Chapter 832: Chapter 838: The Void

"Ah!"

A heavy sigh emanated from within the Purification Spirit Realm, and Li Zhirui, wearing a look of disappointment, muttered to himself, "After enjoying the benefits of the Purifying Primordial Qi, my cultivation speed has plummeted like falling off a cliff. It’s gotten to the point where I’m not even used to it anymore."

The already scarce Purifying Primordial Qi was completely consumed in just a matter of months, bringing Li Zhirui’s cultivation speed back to its original pace.

The disparity was too great, leaving him disoriented and restless, unable to calm his mind for cultivation.

"Perhaps, I should take a look at The Void," a thought suddenly sprang into Li Zhirui’s mind.

It had been decades since the Ascension Void Array was set up on the peak of Mount Wanxian, yet it had never been activated.

This thought wasn’t exactly an impulsive one, since Da Qing had evolved into a fifth-rank Spirit Beast and was only a step away from breaking through to the Fifth Order. That was likely to happen within these few decades, and by then, they would certainly explore The Void.

Now was a good time to take the first step, to preliminarily scout the Void above Wanxian Island and prepare for future expeditions.

Come to think of it, although Li Zhirui had spent decades in The Void, he had never truly entered the part permeated with Chaotic Qi. Instead, he had stayed on a large Magical Treasure platform.

That seemed not quite accurate either. During the destruction of Cloud Palace, Li Zhirui did come into direct contact with The Void, but it was extremely brief and lacked any real sense of experience.

Without the need to notify anyone, Li Zhirui silently left the Spirit Realm, flew up to the mountaintop, and then activated the Formation.

Buzz—

A faint silver light, which wasn’t very conspicuous in daylight, shot up from Mount Wanxian, carrying Li Zhirui into The Void.

As soon as he set foot in The Void, the omnipresent Chaotic Spiritual Energy rushed over, enveloping Li Zhirui, aggressively attempting to infiltrate his body.

When Li Zhirui mobilized the Purification Principle around his body, the Chaotic Spiritual Energy gradually dissipated.

"I should set up a Magical Treasure on the Ascension Void Array, so I won’t have to continuously mobilize the Laws, avoiding the infiltration of Chaotic Spiritual Energy and also saving some energy and Mana," Li Zhirui murmured to himself, his voice dissipating into nothingness the moment he spoke.

Now that the Li family had Li Chenghuo, a fourth-order Master Artifact Refiner, it should be possible to forge a Magical Treasure that could stand in The Void.

Within sight of Li Zhirui, apart from the faint glow emanating from the Profound Origin Realm behind him, everywhere else was shrouded in greyness, as if in this gray world, there was no sense of direction.

Had it not been for the connection he could still sense with the Profound Origin Realm, like a thin line drawing him back, Li Zhirui did not doubt that if he ventured too far into exploration, he might become lost in the dense Chaotic Qi.

"Hmm."

Li Zhirui pondered for a moment, randomly chose a direction, and slowly moved away from the Profound Origin Realm. Since the purpose was to lay the groundwork for subsequent exploration, he couldn’t possibly just take a glance and return, could he?

One day... two days...

Time passed at an incredibly slow pace.

Li Zhirui was constantly sensing the ’shackle’ tied around him, that thin thread, fearing that it might suddenly snap at any time, severing his connection with the Profound Origin Realm and leaving him to wander The Void.

At the same time, he was silently calculating the distance in his heart.

Worth mentioning is that, a few days after moving forward in The Void, when Li Zhirui turned to look back, he actually couldn’t see the faint light from the Profound Origin Realm anymore.

And at that point, he estimated that he was less than a hundred miles from the Profound Origin Realm!

However, this situation was not difficult to understand—it simply reflected protections in place for the various worlds, to prevent higher worlds from invading the Minor Thousand World at will.

Walking in The Void required extreme caution, for one might encounter Chaotic Storms and Chaotic Waves at any moment.

With Li Zhirui’s current strength, if caught in one, he would either die or be severely injured.

Of course, he had a space for his own refuge from disasters, making the chances of injury quite slim.

Nevertheless, Li Zhirui dared not let his guard down in the slightest.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh—

A gust of wild wind roared in, followed closely by a violent Chaotic Storm. Without a moment’s hesitation, Li Zhirui knew there was no time to spare as the storm materialized a mere hundred miles in front of him, and he immediately retreated into the space.

That Chaotic Storm had been the strongest and most terrifying one Li Zhirui had encountered since entering The Void. He had no doubt that had he been caught in it, there would have been no chance of survival!

Even just being grazed by the outer edges might leave him critically injured.

Silently counting the time in the space, around a quarter of an hour later, Li Zhirui reemerged into The Void.

Yet before he could relax, he saw several more massive Chaotic Waves, roaring toward him from afar.

"This isn’t normal!" Li Zhirui felt something was amiss the moment he entered the space.

To his knowledge, although Chaotic Storms were abrupt in their eruption, it was rare for them to occur in quick succession!

"It’s actually quite similar to the fluctuations of Spiritual Energy during battle within the Profound Origin Realm."

Having said that, Li Zhirui immediately realized that this was, in fact, the result of someone battling within The Void!

"I wonder what kind of powerful entity could stir up such a terrifying Chaotic Storm."

Yet without thinking, he knew that this was not something he could meddle with, as their Realm might well surpass even the Void Refinement Realm!

This sudden development caused Li Zhirui to abandon any thoughts of further exploration and to prepare to return to the Profound Origin Realm.

To avoid being affected by the battle, Li Zhirui hid in the space for several days, helping Shen manage Spiritual Objects, which was also a way to relax his mind.

"Have you not cultivated any of your own kind over these years?" Li Zhirui curiously asked.

In the space, Shen had planted a vast number of Spirit Ginseng and Lingzhi, spiritual objects that were prone to producing Devil Spirits. Yet, despite so many years passing, not a single spiritual object had developed Spiritual Intelligence!

This had been a heavy blow to Shen, to the point where its cultivation was no longer a priority.

Perhaps it wanted companionship of its own kind? Either way, Shen placed great importance on cultivating Devil Spirits.

"No, I’ve specifically cleared out a large mountain and planted it full of Spiritual Medicine, even regularly expounded the Way to them, but to no avail," said Shen, downcast.

Li Zhirui did not have much understanding of Devil Spirits, so he couldn’t offer much help but suggested, "Doesn’t the family have a fourth-order Devil Spirit named Jade Drew? Have you not sought advice from him? Maybe you’ll find unexpected results."

Li Zhirui remembered that there had been several Devil Spirits in the Secret Realm they had once found; perhaps it knew something helpful.

"Really?" Shen was, of course, aware of this Devil Spirit but had little contact with Jade Drew due to its status.

How could Li Zhirui be sure? He had just thought of the idea on the spot seeing Shen’s cultivation being delayed due to this issue.

He smiled and then left the space.

After several days had passed, the battle between the powerful entities should have concluded.
