Chapter 33: Goth

Adam smirks as he watches Cassie rush to the back to change into something else.

He knows how to rile up chaotic feelings inside people, and that is what he just did to Cassie.

First, he showed interest in her love life by asking her if this friend was a boy or a girl, and when she gave him a panicked answer, he moved on from the topic as if he didn’t even talk about it in the very first place.

Why would anyone do that? No follow-up question, no teasing, nothing. Adam didn’t react to it at all.

This caused Cassie some panic, and she began blaming herself for slipping, even though Adam hadn’t said a word regarding this matter.

It’s always better to let people create their own mess and watch it from the outside to have better control over it.

Adam is just having fun right now. He will decide how to progress with Cassie in the future once he has a full understanding of the type of girl she is.

The ringing of the doorbell chimes again as a girl walks in with a phone in her hand and her eyes glued to it.

Five feet seven inches, slender figure, pale skin, perky breasts, black shoulder-length hair, black top, black pants, but the thing that stands out about her the most is her style. A Goth girl.

She fits the description to the tee with her piercings, choker around the neck, and black makeup on her eyelashes and lips.

Adam checks her out. The girl is as sexy as a goth can get.

This makes Adam wonder if all the goth girls have daddy issues.

Adam walks up to the girl to ask her what she wants.

"Excuse me, how can I help you?" Adam asks. The girl finally lifts her head to look at Adam.

"Who are you?" she asks, completely unbothered by his handsomeness, or she is just too good at hiding her feelings and expressions.

"My name’s Adam, and I work here," Adam says.

"So you are the new hire, Ellie was talking about," the girl says.

"That’s me, and I assume you must be Leila," Adam assumes, seeing that the girl knows his name, and from all the information he gathered about there being another server who comes to work during the evening hours.

He just didn’t expect her to be a goth.

"Well, aren’t you a smart one," Leila says. "Just above average," Adam answers back, keeping eye contact and a small smile on his face.

Leila stares at him for a few seconds without saying a word, and Adam doesn’t break eye contact. "Well, whatever, I need to go and change," Leila says and walks past him.

Adam watches her walk to the back as her hips sway left and right. ’Damn, am I lucky,’ Adam thinks as all three women working in this restaurant is sexy as well.

Ellie, the beautiful, elegant woman.

Cassie, the cute, bright, innocent action girl.

And now Leila, beautiful, mysterious, and a goth.

Adam never expected he would be working with a goth. He always says them over the internet or walks past a few in his past life. Now he gets to interact with one and figure out what really goes into a goth girl’s mind.

Do they really have daddy issues? Are they all into weird shit? Do they only listen to goth rock and hardcore metal? Adam finally has a chance to figure it out..

After a while, both Cassie and Leila join him as the evening service begins.

Unlike Cassie, Leila is very competent in her work, plus she doesn’t come off as distant or cold, even with the goth makeup still on.

Though she is wearing the restaurant uniform, Ellie has designed it so that it actually fits Leila’s gothic style, with a long-sleeved top and long pants, while showing off her midsection, which has her navel piercing on display.

Ellie really knows how to sell looks, and from what Adam can see, Leila is quite popular among some of the restaurant’s patrons, especially men.

Adam, too, is getting a lot of attention from the women as he continues to serve them with a charismatic smile and mature behavior, garnering a lot of praise and massive tips from these satisfied customers.

A woman even slipped her number into his pocket.

The evening service was very hectic, but Adam was in complete control, not making a single mistake, even though it was his first day at the job. He even helped out Cassie with some of her orders, which impressed Ellie a lot.

Even Leila, who has been completely indifferent to him, couldn’t help but acknowledge how good Adam was at handling people. Of course, they don’t know that he has over 20 years of experience when it comes to such things.

It’s late at night, and the service finally comes to an end as the last customer exits the restaurant.

Adam closes the door and turns the sign to shut the restaurant for the night before joining his coworkers.

"You did better than I expected, rookie," Leila says, leaning against a table with her arms folded, making her pale breasts pop up a little.

"Well, thank you for the praise," Adam says.

"Don’t get used to it," Leila says, smirking.

"Um, thank you for helping me around as well. It should be me who should be helping you as you are new here, not the other way around," Cassie says while acting embarrassed.

Leila gives her the side eye but doesn’t say anything. Adam notices this and assumes that Leila doesn’t like Cassie very much. But it doesn’t surprise him as these two girls live completely different lives.

"No worries, you will get the hang of it soon enough. You did say that you started just a month ago, right?" Adam says, comforting her.

"I am done for the day, so I am leaving," Leila says and leaves, not bothering with more chit chat.

"I should leave, too," Adam says, looking at Cassie. He could tell that Cassie would have stuck around if he had too, but he doesn’t have it in him to entertain Cassie all night.

"Yes! Me too, have a good night~" Cassie says.

Adam nods and heads to the changing room. He puts on his regular clothes and walks out of the restaurant after bidding farewell to Ellie, who is still in the kitchen managing the cleaning staff.

Adam gets in his car and drives, taking the next turn to go home, when he sees Leila walking by the sidewalk in her casual goth clothes.

"Leila," Adam calls her out as he slows down his car.

Leila turns her head, hearing Adam’s voice, and is surprised to see him driving a sports car.

"Is this your car?" she asks, confused, because why would someone who drives such a nice car work in a restaurant?

"Ya. Get in, I will drop you off," Adam says.

"No need, I can walk home," Leila says.

"It’s late at night. And even though I don’t doubt your self-defense skills, I wouldn’t take that chance," Adam says.

He doesn’t know if Leila practices any self-defense; he just threw that out to sound a little absurd.

Leila stops, looks at Adam, seeing his charismatic smile, and decides to go with it.

Adam doesn’t look like someone who would take advantage of her, and he is right. It’s getting late, and even though she has never had any trouble walking back home this late at night, she has had some creepy encounters before. She would never want to take such a chance if she has a better option available.

And Adam, is that a better option right now.

You can never trust fate.

"Fine," she says and gets inside the car.

Adam smiles and begins driving again.

"So Leila, tell me something about yourself," Adam asks while his attention is on the road up front.

"Why?" Leila asks.

"Just cause. We are coworkers, after all," Adam says.

"You know my name. I am 22 years old, an arts major, and I like guys with big dicks," Leila says. She is not blind. She knows when a guy is interested in her.

She saw the way Adam checked her out when they first met, and also while they were working.

So she decides to throw Adam out for a spiral by mentioning she likes big dicks, because the probability of Adam having a big dick is small, in fact most guys you see or encounter have an averaged size dick. Why? Because it’s in the description, average.

But instead of catching him off guard, it amuses Adam. He chuckles.

"Ah, too back, I don’t have a big dick. I guess I am not lucky enough," Adam says, chuckling.

A rare smile appeared on Leila’s lips as she licked Adam’s response. It showed her that Adam doesn’t mind self-deprecating humor.

Most guys in Adam’s place would have been caught off guard or discouraged. Or they would feel a massive ego boost, as they might be one of those few with a big dick, which would lead them to reveal their true intentions based on what Leila said.

But Adam didn’t do any of those things. Instead, he made a joke out of that, which showed his maturity to her.

"What about you? Why is a rich kid like you working in a restaurant?" Leila asks as she starts getting curious about Adam as well.

Adam smiles, hearing her question. ’She is finally showing some interest,’ Adam thinks.

"Well, my dad is one of those rags-to-riches type of guys, so he wants me to experience the same thing he did growing up," Adam says.

"So you are doing this just to please your dad?" Leila asks.

"That’s one way to put it, but I also kinda like it. It’s different from my usual life. I like interacting with people," Adam says.
