Chapter 38: Dining Table Talks
Xu Lin turns completely red from Adam’s compliment.
Adam smiles, seeing this reaction. Girls like Xu Lin are too easy to win over, but he has to be careful not to shatter her heart into a million pieces.
Adam will have to conquer her to such a length that every thought in her mind should be related to him.
"Are you done cleaning my room?" Adam asks, snapping her out of her dazed bliss.
"Yes, master Adam..." she says.
"Good, then you should leave, or Julia is going to get angry. Trust me, you don’t want to anger her," Adam says.
Xu Lin nods her head and leaves while she turns to look at Adam a few more times.
Once Xu Lin leaves, Adam walks up to his computer and surfs the internet. It’s true early to go to work, and the breakfast is still not done.
First, he checks his crypto coil wallet and sees the number continue to rise at an exceptional rate. With a smile on his face, he clicks off.
He then searches Darrel Briccs and finds some recent videos of him inside an MMA ring fighting another heavyweight fighter.
Adam watches with interest as Darrel dominates the first round with great technique and then ends the fight in the second round with a powerful knockout. He also sees Lamai’s father in Darrel’s corner. Adam is confident that the old man is Lamai’s father, as he did see his picture in the gym.
Adam then browses the internet, searching for the names of companies that will go on to become huge successes in the future, to see where they are in their development stage.
Because if they are in their early stage, Adam might buy some of their shares.
An hour passes in an instant under the influence of the internet. Adam turns off his computer and heads down as he smells that breakfast is ready. Yes, his nose managed to smell the food all the way from his room.
His body is almost at that superhuman level, where all his senses are enhanced, but not yet at the super level, enhanced strength, enhanced stamina, and endurance, enhanced senses.
This makes Adam wonder if his memory is also enhanced, as he is having it real easy to recall events of the past that happened twenty years ago for him.
Adam walks into the dining room and finds all his family here, waiting for their breakfast.
As soon as he walks in, his eyes meet Julia’s. Yesterday’s memory was still fresh in his mind. He licks his lips, recalling her taste.
Julia just glares at him. She, too, remembers. How could she not? Her plan failed. She let Adam taste her, and that kiss completely got her, making her touch herself, thinking about Adam.
Last night was Adam’s victory and both of them know it.
Jack puts his tablet down and sees his son walk up to his chair and take a seat. He sees his son dressed up properly, looking smart and handsome. Worthy to be his son.
’Looks like he really is taking this seriously, after all,’ Jack thinks.
"How was work yesterday?" Jack asked.
"It went well. I earned more tips than my hourly payment. I would probably earn more money in a month than most of your entry-level workers," Adam says as he waits for his breakfast.
Xu Lin doesn’t disappoint as she quickly brings him his food. "Thank you, Xu Lin," Adam says, smiling. The girl blushes, nodding her head, and walks away.
Julia notices this. As a woman, how can she not see how Xu Lin looks at Adam? But she doesn’t blame the girl. Julia has to admit, Adam is very handsome, especially recently.
Even a composed and cold woman like her has become a victim of his charm, but unlike Xu Lin, Julia knows how to control herself.
Jack watches his son carefully. He doesn’t recognize Adam anymore. But he feels good about this.
Adam is finally showing how a man should act. Adam is his only heir, so as his heir, he should act like one. Seeing Adam finally take that step, Jack no longer needs to worry about having a bum for a son and can pass his hard-earned wealth to his son without being scrutinized by his peers.
When he looked at his peers’ children, all of them were helping their parents with their business, working hard to prove their worth.
Jack didn’t care if Adam worked for his company or not, he just needed Adam to show some responsibility and hard work so that he wouldn’t have to feel little before his peers.
Growing up as a very poor man, he always wanted to be better than the people who looked down on him, so Jack always compared everything with his peers.
If his peers or rivals got a brand new car, he would buy a better one. If his peers got into a new hobby, Jack would try to gain as much knowledge about that particular hobby to boast about before his peers.
Julia doesn’t know this, but the only reason Jack married her was because one of his peers actually found himself a young wife as well.
Of course, Julia doesn’t need to know that. Jack knew Julia’s intention from the very start, but he didn’t care. It’s not like he would hand over all of his wealth to her, right?
So when Jack heard his peers talk proudly about their sons and daughters, Jack felt a sting in his chest because his son was a loser who was too shy to talk to a girl, was always locked inside his room playing games, and watching animated series.
It pissed Jack off.
But seeing that Adam is fixing his behavior, becoming better, Jack feels great. Now he no longer has to lie about his son. He can boast to his peers about how his son works a normal, low-level job to understand what hard work looks like, and how working such a job builds character and discipline.
"By the way, where is this restaurant you are working in?" Jack asks.
Adam looks at his father and wonders what this old man is thinking. ’Whatever it is, I hope he doesn’t pull something stupid,’ Adam thinks, and gives his father the address of the restaurant.
Done with his breakfast, Jack leaves for work, leaving Adam alone with Julia.
Now that they are alone and Xu Lin is busy working somewhere else, they stare into each other’s eyes.
Adam with his usual smugness, and Julia with her usual cold arrogance.
"Last night was eventful, wasn’t it?" Adam says, taking a bite of his breakfast.
"Hmph, I was drunk, that’s all," Julia says.
"It still doesn’t change what you did. Who would have thought? My hot sexy step mother is so starved for sex that she would beg her step son to fuck her," Adam says with the biggest smug smile on his face.
Julia closes her eyes and takes a deep breath to calm herself down. No matter how attracted she is to Adam physically, his attitude pisses her off. She just wants to walk up to him and claw at his face, but when her eyes fall on his lips, the kiss they had starts to replay in her head again, pissing her off even more.
"Last night, you got lucky. I was drunk enough to entertain you a little and give you a taste of what you want, but no more. I wouldn’t even let you touch me in my dreams," Julia says.
"Whoa, stop right there. Don’t go promising something you cannot keep. I can see it in your eyes. The way you look at me, like a hungry cougar, waiting to seduce your young stepson to fulfill your slutty desires," Adam continues to tease her.
"You think too highly of yourself. Do you think I really need you to fulfil my sexual desires? Just one word from me and a hundred men will line up to just spend five minutes with me," Julia says, full of arrogance.
Adam smirks. He doesn’t doubt Julia. He is sure that many men from her past would leave whatever they are doing right now and rush to her if she said she needed them.
"Oh, are you just admitting to me that you are planning to cheat on my father?" Adam suddenly brings Jack into the mix.
Julia grits her teeth in anger. She slipped a little, and Adam took advantage. If not for them being alone, Julia would be in big trouble right now.
"Shut up, eat your breakfast, and get out of the house. Stop bothering me!" Julia says and gets off the dining table and leaves.
She did the smart thing, getting away from Adam, as he has too much ammo right now. She needs things to calm down a little so that the battlefield gets even again.
But Julia doesn’t know that Adam doesn’t plan to give her even a single advantage. This battle between them will continue to lean in his favor over the course, and once he has victory in his reach. He is going to take her all for himself.
Adam then finishes up his breakfast and takes the plate with him to the kitchen.
Inside, he finds Xu Lin cleaning the counter, looking like the perfect sexy housemaid whom Adam hired her to be.
"Xu Lin," Adam calls her.
Xu Lin stops and turns around, hearing Adam’s voice.
"Master Adam." Xu Lin acknowledges his presence with a light blush on her cheeks, seeing him standing before her handsomely.
