Chapter 1187. The Demon King of Sunset’s Castle (7)

It had been a while since I last heard good news.

The number of items reminded me of the Rift Museum, and if these items belonged to the vanquished demon lord, then I was sure they were better than the items at the Rift Museum.

The former Commander of the 21st Legion, who was taken down by Hyun-Sung, seemed to have an obsession with collecting rare items. Belial’s warehouse was impressive as well, but it was slightly different from this.

‘Belial looked like he was just collecting useless things like random pieces of art...’

He had unidentifiable tribal flags, totem-like objects, and even artworks from Earth. I wasn’t saying they were bad, but obviously, they couldn’t be compared to the items the 21st Legion had collected up until now.

Based on our continent’s standards, the items were mostly Legendary and Semi-Mythic, and collections numbered in the 10s looked like Mythic items.

Obviously, I thought the allied forces would be able to power up significantly if we managed to overcome this trial. Of course, I could only think of five people capable of using those items, but the fact that we could strengthen the named adventurers, like Woo Hyo-Yeol and William, was good enough/

‘The rest will be mine.’

The items obviously belonged to Kim Hyun-Sung, but what was mine was mine.

The fact that Kim Hyun-Sung was also mine was the secret to keeping our bond strong.

‘No matter how much I think about it, it’s the best gift ever.’

It was enough for me to overlook the mistake he had made when he was drunk.

‘Actually, that’s not all. Wasn’t there an Armory Manager? It was Yoo Ah-Young, right?’

Aside from these strange and fascinating items, there was also a separate armory. We already had plenty of valuable items, but the more, the merrier. I did my best to keep a straight face, but the corner of my lips was going up.

‘We should hurry up and go.’

“Miss Chae-Ryeong,” I said.

"M-Mr. Ki-Young! Hyo-Yeol oppa..."

“I-I’m watching as well,” I interrupted her.

When I made myself sound like I was holding back my tears, I heard Lim Chae-Ryeong's sobs.

"Heuk... heuuuk... What should we do? I think Hyo-Yeol oppa is going to die. Heuk... He’s not moving... heuk... heuk... Goong-Seon and Dam-Hye unni have been by his side... but he’s not moving. Heuk..."

“...’

"Heuk... I don’t... like this anymore..."

“It’ll be fine, Miss Chae-Ryeong. Mr. Woo Hyo-Yeol... I-I’m sure he’ll make it,” I reassured her.

- ...

“I-I’ll head there right now,” I told her.

"Ah!" Lim Chae-Ryeong’s face brightened up. I was a saint-level priest, so this was obviously good news for her. Of course, it didn’t take long for her face to become gloomy again.

Woo Hyo-Yeol was dying, so time was running out, but she couldn’t really figure out her role in this massive Demon King’s Castle.

Every second was important at the moment, and it was actually impossible for me to go over there, but as always, there was a way.

However, it could be a slightly difficult task for her.

“We need the Magnetic Field Position Shifter. It’s the same artifact that moved Party Three...” I said.

"Excuse me?"

“Think you can get it?” I asked.

"..."

“...”

"I can..."

“I’ll provide backup for the operation from here. Miss No Dam-Hye and Miss Nam Goong-Seon... will also provide support from behind,” I added.

"Yes, sir."

“You really think... you can do it?” I asked.

"Yes, I can do it. No, I have to do it. I must do it."

‘I wonder if it’s even possible.’

From Lim Chae-Ryeong’s point of view, she had to succeed. She probably felt like Woo Hyo-Yeol’s life depended on her, so I was sure that gave her enough motivation to succeed.

‘Letting Grandpa Bolt go was a good choice.’

The traumatic event made them feel desperate in situations like this.

Lim Chae-Ryeong jumped up and looked ahead. After tying her hair tightly, she placed her armor on the floor. Excluding items that had bonus Agility stats, which helped her run fast, it seemed like she was trying to unequip all of her equipment.

Obviously, her eyes were filled with determination to save Woo Hyo-Yeol.

“The only thing I can do is help you reach the Collection Manager, Miss Chae-Ryeong. Besides that, everything depends on you,” I informed her.

"Okay."

“Good luck,” I said.

"Thank you, sir."

“...”

"..."

“Let’s go,” I ordered.

"Melody of Agility!"

A Movement Speed buff was cast, and Lim Chae-Ryeong immediately started running.

"Roooooooooar!"

Item 213: Infernal Magic Golem was standing in front of her. Overwhelming and huge wasn’t enough to describe the size and overwhelming presence of the golem burning with green flames.

Some of the members of Party Three were scared and were holding their breath, afraid of getting discovered, so I sent a message to others who were motivated to carry out the raid.

Their job was to open up a path.

"Stay as far back as possible! Don’t let it get too close, damn it!"

"Rooooooar!"

Rumble! Ruuuuuuumble!

The golem swung its large arms, unleashing infernal flames imbued with magic. Mages cast barrier spells, but the transparent barriers were too weak. Dozens of barriers were stacked, but they lasted only a few minutes.

Fortunately, they managed to buy enough time for a certain individual.

Lim Chae-Ryeong broke through the scorching heat with gnashed teeth. The fire had died down, but the heat was still there, as she looked like she was in pain. Fire burned beneath her feet, but Lim Chae-Ryeong didn’t seem to care as she ran even faster.

"Chae-Ryeong!"

Nam Goong-Seon cast recovery spells on her, but her spells weren't strong enough to restore Lim Chae-Ryeon's health to full.

‘She’s on the brink of dying.’

Raymond Bolt’s legacy was the reason she managed to endure the pain and keep running.

"This time... I won’t let him die."

‘Chae-Ryeong...’

" Never... never!"

I thought it was time to show something, and I could probably do it sooner than I expected.

"So there's a struggling pest... I think it’ll be fun to crush them, but..."

Hwang Jung-Yeon noticed her.

"I really wanted to use Item 412—Random Magic Box, and I think this is the right time to use it."

A small box adorned with geometric patterns appeared above Hwang Jung-Yeon’s head.

When the box opened, a massive tsunami poured out of it.

"That spell was pretty disappointing. Wheeew... looks like this was a mistake."

"Ahh..." Lim Chae-Ryeong cast a despair-filled gaze at the massive waves, which were several times larger than herself. Her face looked as if she was saying, “Is it over?” but she bit her lips and stepped toward the waves with her dagger in hand.

Boom!

I saw Nam Goong-Seon hugging Lim Chae-Ryeong, becoming her shield.

"Un... ni!!!"

"Go! Chae-Ryeong!"

Nam Goong-Seon spoke as the waves swept her away. Lim Chae-Ryeong used her dagger to charge through the small opening Nam Goong-Seon had made for her, allowing her to come out on the other side.

Although she was soaking wet, she didn’t stop running.

"Item 11—Ice Dust Clock."

"Yaaaaaaaaaaah!!!"

A giant hourglass appeared behind Hwang Jung-Yeon, but it was filled with snowflakes, not sand. As the snowflakes fell, a sudden chill swept across the surroundings, and it looked as if time had frozen in place.

‘I think she took out the random-whatever item just for fun... That... That’s the real deal.’

I wanted to focus on Lim Chae-Ryeong as well, but I couldn’t snap out of it because it felt like I was watching a showcase for Lee Ki-Young.

‘I’m so happy.’

Each time a gift was presented, my heart would race.

"Item 56—Chanelia Hermes’s Battle Backpack."

‘Get that out of my face, damn it.’

Naturally, I immediately came back to reality.

"Yaaaaaaaah!

"Struggling is futile."

While I was focused on the showcase, Lim Chae-Ryeong made a mad dash for her target while withstanding the biting cold that had engulfed her.

There wasn’t a lot of time until the snowflakes in the hourglass fell to the bottom. I had no idea what kind of item that was, but unless one were stupid, one could see that it would have a negative effect on the allied forces once the countdown was over.

Obviously, Lim Chae-Ryeong clenched her fist and gritted her teeth. With the help of her wounded comrades, she continued running toward her target.

And that was when I saw hesitation on Hwang Jung-Yeon’s face.

‘She’s too soft-hearted...’

Before she realized it, she fixed her glasses and focused on her acting, but I was sure she pitied Lim Chae-Ryeong, who was struggling desperately.

It was highly likely that she believed that pitying someone wasn't wrong. At this moment, she was clearly in a position to take pity on someone. That was probably why—even though Lim Chae-Ryeong was already right in front of her—she really didn't do anything.

"Item 9—Aegis’ Shield Fragment."

For a moment, it seemed like they made contact, but Lim Chae-Ryeong’s dagger was easily blocked by the shield that appeared in the sky. To make things worse, the impact was so strong that she crashed into a wall.

"Attacks don’t work on me. That was a sad attempt."

"He... hehe. I already knew that from the start..."

"You...

"I’m a thief." Lim Chae-Ryeong raised a small bracelet.

"Mr. Lee Ki-Young! How do you activate this thing?! Hurry! Hurry!"

It was easy to figure out how to operate it, so I immediately started talking.

Then, Lim Chae-Ryeong appeared before me with a flash of white light.

“Mr. Lee Ki-Young?” Lim Chae-Ryeong said.

“You did well, Miss Chae-Ryeong,” I said.

Lim Chae-Ryeong staggered forward when she saw me. Of course, I immediately caught her.

‘I should send the bear somewhere else first.’

The bear was disrupting the balance between Party One, who was still carrying out the raid, and Beast Tamer Alps. I activated the Magnetic Field Position Shifter and saw the bear being enveloped in light.

All three of them needed to be together for their mechanic to be effective, so if one of them was missing, the allied forces should be able to take care of them even without the named adventurers.

Ah! The bear! I mean... hohohoho!

‘Having only Emilia there should be enough.’

It was our turn to make a move...

“Mr. Lee Ki-Young?”

“Mr. William, Miss Ha-Yan,” I said.

I grabbed their hands tightly and activated the device.

I felt like I got sucked into a jewelry box.

‘All of this... All of this is mine, damn it.’

I noticed myself desperately hoping that I was the real Lee Ki-Young.

‘I’m really happy right now.’
