Chapter 21 - Step 21 - Telling Lady Vera About Zale's Flirtings
[Sariah's POV]
I walked toward Lady Vera's room, angry, clenching my fists as I couldn't wait to tell her what I had just witnessed.
The reason why I was so excited deep
down was that this was a chance to get rid of Zale, that useless servant who had managed to seduce Lady Vera.
If she were to know that he had been snooping around with another girl, there was no doubt she would confront him. She might even go as far as to tell him off and banish him from ever setting foot in their estate!
Arriving before her door, I lightly knocked. After all, it was around afternoon, and the long trip had tired her greatly. I didn't want to wake her up abruptly.
Though, to my surprise, she hadn't been sleeping as she gracefully opened the door, revealing her beautiful body to me, only wearing a few pieces of clothing.
I inwardly blushed looking at her for a small second, quickly turning away.
"I..."
I was too stunned to speak.
Lady Vera also put her clothes back on, blushing. "S-Sorry... I thought you would be somebody else."
I frowned hearing those words. My anger from earlier came back like an unending wildfire. Lady Vera had to know that her new lover was only playing with her. After all, he was a commoner; all commoners are like that—manipulative freaks who will do everything to reach their goals.
"Let me put on some clothes!" she said as she walked away and covered her body decently this time around. "So, why are you visiting me?"
I took a deep breath. I knew this would hurt her.
"I've seen something that I thought needed to be reported back to you."
She looked surprised. We had just arrived at the Elowen Estate, and there was already something troubling?
"What is it?"
"It's nothing related to the estate. It's about your servant... or," I hesitated with disgust, "your... lover."
She became even more intrigued, and I continued without the slightest delay.
"I've seen him outside, trying to charm the daughter of the Elowen Estate. Talking to her about some book related to the Theory of Mana. He said that he read it from our library. Do you know anything about this?"
Lady Vera was confused. "He was flirting with another girl?"
I smirked inwardly. She hadn't even replied to the latter part of my questions.
I could already see from the look on her face that she was furious from within. There was no doubt that she would punish Zale if this continued.
"Yes. He was charming her in the garden. I know that you're in a new relationship, but..."
She clenched her fists right away and frowned deeply.
And while I thought those emotions were aimed at Zale, I quickly realized that they were aimed at me.
"Are you lying to me?!" she asked, annoyed. "I know that you don't like him. But you could at least try to understand him and where he is from. He's not a bad person, and I doubt that he would go after another woman besides me! He loves me!"
My eyes widened. "Y-You love him?"
I gulped. 'She barely uttered those words with her previous husband. Just what did that slave do to my master...'
I couldn't believe it. I had been thinking that there might have been a spell at play. But this was much bigger than I could have thought.
"I do. I love him! I would do anything for him."
My eyes widened even more. 'Yeah... she's completely head over heels for him. I need to make her realize just how bad of a person Zale is.'
This couldn't go on any longer. I needed to do something, and if she wouldn't believe me, then I would show her that I hadn't lied. That Zale was really snooping around trying to charm the daughter of Nickolas Elowen.
"I'm telling the truth. If you want, I can show you."
I hadn't told her about it just yet. But from the bushes earlier, I hadn't been idling around, fuming with rage.
I had taken a video with the help of my Mana Recorder. I had Zale flirting with another girl on there.
With proof, there was no reason for her to doubt me ever again, and I would have finally managed to get rid of him.
Then, I would get Lady Vera all to myself once more, just like old times...
I pulled out my Mana Recorder from my pocket and began showing her the video. We could see them talking. However, as I continued to watch the video, I realized that I might have been too haughty about all this...
This looked like a normal conversation.
I should have waited and gathered more evidence about him. Before Lady Vera even spoke, I knew that I had fumbled this situation.
But then... hope.
She was frowning, looking clearly angry.
"Where is his room? I need to talk to him."
I clenched my fists with joy.
"How dare he talk to another girl without me around!"
"Please follow me, Lady Vera. I will show you the way."
Within a minute or so, we arrived at his door, and Lady Vera immediately knocked on it, frowning.
Zale opened the door right away and flashed a smile toward Lady Vera without wasting another moment. But then that smile vanished as he saw me in the corner of his eye.
"If it isn't my beautiful noble princess coming to see me," he said as he pulled her into his embrace, staring dead into my eyes.
I had expected Lady Vera to resist his touch and push him away. But she immediately succumbed to his charm, her anger disappearing instantly.
"Were you talking to Nickolas' daughter?" she finally asked.
However, looking at her expression, I knew that hope was already lost.
"Yes, we talked a bit. She's nice. You can come with me next time if you want."
Lady Vera only blushed as I watched her body getting touched right before me.
I rubbed my forehead.
Getting rid of that slave was going to be much harder than I thought.
