Chapter 101: Chapter 103 Library_1

Chapter 101 -103 Library_1

Hidden within a manor in Songjiang city.

A middle-aged man was seated at a dining table. He was donned in a black robe adorned with golde, floral patterns, knife and fork in hand, enjoying a lavish dinner before him.

At the table was a young man, sitting across from him, his gaze lowered and bearing humble.

After some time, the middle-aged man finished his dinner and pushed a white plate to the young man.

“Fisherman, this is your task.”

In the plate was a ball of crimson light, simply staring at this red orb felt like looking at a sun sunk in blood.

The aberrant power of corruption impelled one to gouge out their own eyes!

[‘The fragment of Doomsday Type III – The Profane Blood Sun: This item is unique, and will definitely be dropped after the death of an Apostle. You can take it back to the Library and solidify it into Sacred Objects.]

The so-called ‘Fisherman’ knew that even the most elite apostles in the organization have difficulties obtaining an S-level assessment of the chapter, so the source of doomsday is incredibly precious.

In a typical game chapter, obtaining an S-level assessment was as difficult as ascending to heaven, not to mention the ‘doomsday source fragment’ at hand was from the world of the Blood Sun.

“Lord Bashir, I will do everything possible to complete the task.”

Bashir slightly nodded: “In our New World, it’s hard for apostles to clear the world of Blood Sun, let alone get an S-level evaluation.”

“Only our lord can get an S-level evaluation in the world of the Blood Sun.”

“This fragment from the Doomsday tested Lord with a durability saved for a long time… Now I give it to you, I hope you do not disappoint me.”

Fisherman respectfully took the plate with both hands and placed it in front of him.

“My Lord! Even at the cost of my life, I will not disappoint you!”

His face beamed with emotion, his eyes revealing a fanatic zeal.

With trembling hands, he was about to put the crimson orb from the plate into his pouch…

Just then, things abruptly changed!

The crimson orb suddenly moved, then decomposed by itself, transformed into countless microscopic red dots, floating in the air, and disappeared from sight…

Fisherman watched as the ‘Doomsday Fragment’ vanished into thin air. All he could do was stare in stunned silence.

Bashir abruptly stood up, in disbelief.

“Who… Who in Chapter 323, was given the SS-level Assessment?!”

This was the first time Fisherman saw Lord Bashir lose his composure, he was terrified and didn’t dare make a sound.

The Doomsday Fragment is unique, if an apostle obtains an S-level assessment in a chapter and gets the Fragment.

Then in the same chapter, the apostle who also gets an S-level assessment, will not be awarded the Doomsday Fragment.

Unless an apostle gets a higher assessment.

The Fragment of the Profane Blood Sun vanished which indicated that another apostle in the Blood Sun World got a higher level assessment.

A thought that Fisherman did not dare to entertain surged within his heart: Despite the same level of difficulty, could this apostle be more powerful than our lord?

Lin Xun set his mobile phone down and lit a cigarette.

It took him a while to soothe his feelings.

Even if the Doomsday Fragment has terrifying effects in reality, they have nothing to do with him now.

Furthering his practice in the game, making himself stronger is the real deal.

As long as he brings it back to the library, solidify it into Sacred Objects to strengthen oneself. He wasn’t about to worry about anything else.

A moment later, Lin Xun reached for his phone and resumed his game.

Stepping forward, he once again touched the Rest Page, clicking the third option, to teleport.

[Do you want to teleport to the Resonated Rest Page, or to the Library?] 𝒏𝙤𝙫𝒑𝙪𝙗.𝙘𝒐𝙢

Lin Xun had been looking forward to the Library for a long time. Although there are descriptions of the library in the apostle forum, exploring it personally is more interesting.

[You are being transported to the Library…]

[…]

[…]

[Transport successful!]

[A feeble Wandering Soul awakens in the library…]

[You open your eyes to find yourself in a massive space…]

[This is a vast circular hall, devoid of lights yet extraordinarily bright.]

[Around the wall of the hall, tall bookshelves are neatly arranged in a circle. Strangely, no entrance or exit can be seen among these shelves.]

[Upon closer inspection, the shelves are filled with identical books. Each book, crafted from pure gold, exudes a dazzling glow, inlaid with brilliant gemstones of various colors, bearing inscriptions of bizarre glyphs you recognize.]

[You comprehend that each book on the shelf is a ‘Book of Salvation,’ only differentiated by their individual contents and chapters.]

[In the center of the wide hall, a giant ‘Book of Salvation’ quietly floats, its height nearly reaching the vaulted ceiling of the hall.]

[Surrounding the ‘Book of Salvation’ are a few smaller books that float around it. Unlike the ‘Book of Salvation’, these books have silver covers adorned single-colored gemstones, each book featuring a different colored gem.]

[Below the giant ‘Book of Salvation’ sits an old man in a black robe, wearing a monocle, flipping through the book in his hands.]

[Would you like to approach and converse with the ‘Librarian’?]

“Oh, old acquaintance.”

Lin Xun still remembered not long after entering the game, he had been tricked by the Librarian on the second floor of the tower.

The first time the Apostles invaded was thanks to this Librarian right in front of him.

[You approach and converse with the ‘Librarian’…]

[He rises from his rocking chair, gazes at you with a serene look, his eyes full of kindness and peace.]

[The ‘Librarian’ congratulates you on successfully navigating through the initiation chapters.]

[He informs you that the Library is a resting place for the Apostles to read various chapters.]

[Here, you can trade, communicate, and spar with other Apostles… as well as purchase items, craft equipment, and strengthen weapons by spending Spirit Energy…]

[The several gargantuan books floating at the center of the hall each have different functions… He suggests that you touch these books first before engaging him in a more detailed conversation.]

Lin Xun blinks, finding the Librarian’s demeanor quite odd. The old man’s previous cunning demeanor was still fresh in his memory.

In his inventory lay the ‘Librarian’s Monocle’, which the Librarian had lost when an earlier scheme of his had backfired.

[You nod and move ahead to touch a book inlaid with a yellow gem.]

[‘Book of Trade’: You can use the Book of Trade to trade with other Apostles.]

[You then reach out and touch another book inlaid with a green gem.]

[‘Book of Letters’: You can use the Book of Letters to add other Apostles as Pen Pals.]

There are others such as the Book of Craftsmanship, Book of Covenants, Book of Competition, and so on in the library.

After studying them, he had a basic understanding of the functions of these books.

Take the Book of Trade for example, it serves as a marketplace, allowing Apostles to buy and sell from each other.

Trading has two modes. One is consignment, where you can set a Spirit Energy price and list it for sale.

Once sold, the Book of Trade commissions five percent of the total value of the item sold.

The other mode is auction, where you must set a starting price and incremental bid price, allowing other Apostles to join the bidding.

After the auction, the Book of Trade commissions ten percent of the total value.

The Book of Letters is a social system that allows you to add pen pals, chat privately, and even block others.

The Book of Craftsmanship functions similarly to a blacksmith, allowing you to forge, enhance, repair, and dismantle equipment, all of which require a fee in Spirit Energy.

The Book of Covenants is a book to check the covenant factions and their functions.

The final Book of Competition is more interesting.

In the Book of Competition, you can consume invasion bookmarks to compete and fight against other Apostles.

PK comes in two forms, invasion, and dueling.

Invasion is just the usual PK function.

Dueling is a public PK, equivalent to live broadcasting.

Apostles can use Spirit Energy to place bets on the competing Apostles. If their favored Apostle wins, they receive a mystery box. The more Spirit Energy wagered, the better the quality of the mystery box, making it a favorite among gamblers.

The winner of the public duel also receives a mystery box. The more Apostles that place bets on the losing side than the winning one, the better the rewards from the mystery box.

He heard that as the difficulty of the chapters increased, there would be chances to unlock new books.

Lin Xun now had a large amount of money, totaling more than twenty-seven thousand Spirit Energy points.

However, he didn’t rush to the Book of Trade to buy stuff, instead he first went to the Book of Craftsmanship…

After all, a pile of materials was still waiting in his inventory to be crafted into equipment.
