It wasn't that I didn't understand a single word that they were saying, it was just that it was hard for me to keep up with how fast they were moving.
What surprised me even more was how the kids around me were all keeping up with the lecture that the teacher was giving.
It didn't seem like they had a problem following her as they jotted down notes in a relaxed manner. It even seemed like they were bored by the lecture that the teacher was giving.
As expected of the genius kids of the Sorcery Empire.
They had grown up in an environment where they would be surrounded by magic knowledge since they were born. It was only natural that they would have access to all kinds of magic knowledge before this.
At the same time, the fact that they were attending the magic academy just showed that they were genius kids as well.
These kind of geniuses naturally wouldn't struggle when it came to a lecture about the basics of magic.
It was only me who was struggling to keep up with the lecture.
With the way that I acted, it wasn't long before I was looked at with disdain. It was hard to miss that I was struggling as I was doing my best to keep up with the teacher while she gave her lecture.
Since these kids were geniuses, they would naturally be filled with pride as well as befitting of geniuses.
As such, they felt good about knowing more than an adult like me.
When the lecture was finally over, the teacher asked, "Is there anything that you want me review?"
I raised my hand and asked a few questions, but that was what caused the kids to look at me with even more disdain.
The way that they looked at me was as if they couldn't believe that I was asking such simple questions. It was as if they were amazed that I didn't know these things that they considered fundamentals.
It didn't take long for them to completely look down on me.
But at least the teacher didn't act the same way as the rest of the class.
The teacher actually slowly went through each of the questions that I asked, making sure that I understood the explanation that she gave.
I couldn't help giving an appreciative nod at the end of this.
This was the kind of teacher that took care of their students and I was happy to be in this class.
Though I could do without the way that the kids were looking at me.
Once she was done answering all my questions, the teacher asked the other kids if there was anything that they wanted her to explain. Though it seemed like they disdained this as well as they felt that they knew everything that she was talking about.
Seeing this, the teacher gave a nod before saying, "Since we still have some time, let's get some practice in."
A staff appeared in her hand and she waved it.
The moment that she waved this staff, it was as if the room suddenly started to expand. Only it seemed like it was only the inside of the room that was expanding, it didn't seem like the outside was expanding at all.
"Spatial magic?" I couldn't help muttering under my breath before looking at the teacher with a strange look.
However, I could also tell that it wasn't the teacher that was using the spatial magic that made this room expand.
Rather, it was the room itself that was releasing the spatial magic.
It seemed that this room had been specially designed for this and the teacher was just using the magic that was in this room to make it expand like this. However, it was still amazing that a room like this had been equipped with spatial magic.
My guess was that it wasn't just this one room alone, but the rest of the classrooms were also equipped with similar spatial magic.
As expected of the magic academy of the Sorcery Empire.
Once the room was stretched out enough, the teacher brought her staff down and looked at the kids to say, "Everyone, get ready for practical training."
The kids seemed excited when they heard this, but then they turned to look at me with eyes that didn't seem as kind. It was clear that they were planning something with the way that they were looking at me.
The teacher didn't seem to care about this as she continued by asking, "Who wants to be first?"
As soon as her voice fell, one of the kids suddenly raised his hand and said, "Me! Let me go first!"
She didn't really care about who wanted to go first, so the teacher just gave a nod.
However, the one that the kid chose to fight was…
"You! Come down and face me!"
The one that the kid pointed his finger at when he said this was me.
I was surprised to see this, but I could guess what was going through his mind when he did this. It was actually quite easy to figure out what this kid was thinking since he couldn't hide the thoughts on his face at all.
He was just a kid after all, so it wasn't as if he was good enough to hide his emotions.
It was clear that he wanted to use me to show off.
If he beat me, then he would be able to say that he beat an adult in a magic duel in the future.
This was without a doubt a very proud thing to brag about among kids.
I couldn't help shaking my head with a bitter smile when I saw this, but when the teacher looked at me as if she was asking if I needed help…
"Alright, I'll play with you for a bit." I said with a more confident smile.
Even if they were geniuses, they were still kids.
It wasn't as if I was weak enough now that I would lose against kids.
