Chapter 3568: Escape*
Lu Yin stared off into the distance. It seemed that this recitation of the Everstone Discourse would claim the lives of a few Ortusers, and possibly even a few Dukkhans.
He was curious to see just how many old monsters awaiting death were still persisting in the Spirit Nidus.
His Champions' Stage Purgatory had already suppressed a number of them.
Lu Yin suddenly realized that neither Old Yu nor the High Seraph had ever mentioned any of the powerhouses that Lu Yin had imprisoned. Were they assumed to be dead, or were the two old men simply convinced that Lu Yin would never agree to release his prisoners?
The latter seemed more likely.
“The Everstone Discourse is sent across all thirty-six domains, so we will also be able to hear it. If an Ortuser participates this time, I might be able to advance a level, which would be amazing,” Old Tao said with clear hope.
Ce Wangtian rolled his eyes. “Give it up. With us here, do you think that they’d be so stupid?”
That question caused Old Tao’s enthusiasm to instantly evaporate. He had to admit; with Boundless among the thirty-six domains, if the Spirit Nidus had any intelligence at all, then they would not sacrifice their own people for the benefit of the experts aboard Boundless. Especially because there was an entire host of sequence powerhouses among them.
“The Everstone of the Everstone Discourse... is there any chance that that refers to the High Seraph’s sequence base, Everstone?” Lu Yin suddenly asked.
Yuan Qi nodded. “That’s correct. Only the Everstone sequence base is capable of transmitting the mental state of the person reciting the Everstone Discourse.”
The Everstone sequence base... Lu Yin would never forget the day he watched the Heavens Sect be slaughtered. The High Seraph had raised the Everstone sequence base up high, and had been completely invincible. That scene was engraved in Lu Yin’s memories.
What would happen if he seized Everstone?
Perhaps seeing through Lu Yin’s thoughts, Yuan Qi quietly said, “Just forget about trying to take Everstone. Unless you can outright destroy it, no one will ever be able to take it from the High Seraph. That sequence base belongs to him alone. Only those who have cultivated their heart to be as firm as Everstone can fully control it.”
“Then just shatter it,” Sovereign Dou Sheng retorted, his aura blazing with a desire to fight again.
Yuan Qi sneered. “Even if all Seven Seraphs worked together, we wouldn’t be able to shatter it. Even the help of a few more Dukkhans wouldn’t be enough.”
Lu Yin glanced at Yuan Qi indifferently. “The spirit treasure formation that protects the Apex Palace was also said to be unbreakable and that even the Seven Seraphs combined couldn’t breach it. And yet, I broke it. Nothing in existence is guaranteed.”
Yuan Qi was left speechless. He had forgotten that Lu Yin frequently accomplished the impossible.
Lu Yin glanced around at the people aboard Boundless. "The Everstone Discourse. When it’s time for them to take place, I hope that everyone here will be able to gain something from it. Our time in the Spirit Nidus cannot be in vain. Even if we fall in battle, we must drag them down with us.
"For the next two years, Boundless will be sealed off. I ask you all to patiently await the day of the Everstone Discourse."
After that, the battleship was completely sealed.
No one outside the ship could see into Boundless, not even Yu Shan, who still hung above the bow of the battleship.
Once Boundless was sealed, Lu Yin went to Yu Shan and continued trying to learn the Nine Heavens Transformation, much to Yu Shan’s agony.
The Origin Progenitor was also studying the battle technique. If anyone succeeded in mastering it, it would be tremendously helpful.
Qing Yun, Qing Xiao, Ru Mu, and many others were also sealed within Boundless.
Many people visited the Hundred Grasses Domain, hoping to join Boundless, but none of them were able to even get close to the battleship.
The situation had changed yet again. By this point in time, the entire Spirit Nidus was aware of Boundless’s origins, as well as where Lu Yin and the others had come from. Plans that had been set into motion needed to change.
However, if someone happened to be capable of causing trouble for the seven major powers of the Spirit Nidus, they would still be welcome to join the Grandverse Manor.
Lu Yin’s goal of disrupting the Spirit Nidus had never changed.
Sealing off Boundless brought a rare period of peace to the Spirit Nidus. Only after it happened did countless cultivators understand just how much their megaverse had changed since Boundless’s arrival. Everyone's attention had been fixated on the battleship and the Third Boss, to the point where they had forgotten about everyone else’s existence.
Boundless may have only been in the Spirit Nidus for a short time, but for many people, it felt as if an eternity had passed.
The ship had marked the beginning of a new era.
Old Yu arrived at the Ascendant Hall’s Apex Palace.
Lan remained respectful as she led Old Yu into the Apex Palace, where they met the High Seraph.
"You’ve arrived early," the High Seraph commented in a casual tone.
Old Yu replied, "I’m not here for Everstone. I simply have a question that I need answered."
The High Seraph looked at the man. "If it’s about that person, I have nothing to say. You won’t get an answer from me."
Old Yu sighed. "After so many years, where should the path of the Spirit Nidus lead?"
The High Seraph just shrugged. "Isn’t it already on the right path? Do you want to change its path?"
"Don’t you want to change it?" Old Yu countered. 𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒑𝒖𝒃.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The High Seraph chuckled. "Whether things change or not is not up to us."
Old Yu stared at the High Seraph. "Not taking action against Lu Yin... Is that something that you decided, or him?"
"He already gave you this answer," the High Seraph replied.
"Is that true?" Old Yu frowned.
The High Seraph neither confirmed nor denied anything, and Old Yu soon left again.
The High Seraph peered into the distance. He did not know what Lu Yin had told Old Yu, but the fact that Old Yu had asked such a question meant that Lu Yin must have mentioned something.
The path of karma... how far will he go down that path? How long will it take?
As Old Yu left the Ascendant Hall, he turned to look back. Lord Lu. Is he actually the invincible being’s disciple? What are the invincible being’s intentions? Has resetting the Tianyuan Megaverse never been a part of the Immortal’s plans? Or is there something else in the Tianyuan Megaverse that’s important to him?
The Spirit Nidus, the Consciousness Megaverse, and the Tianyuan Megaverse. All along, the Tianyuan Megaverse had been the one with the greatest potential, far surpassing the other two megaverses. Fortunately, humanity had appeared late in their development cycle, which had given the Spirit Nidus an opportunity. If not for that, the megaverse threatened with a reset would not be the Tianyuan Megaverse, but rather the Spirit Nidus.
Lord Lu had managed to overcome unspeakable despair, and he had destroyed the Aeternals in the Tianyuan Megaverse, restoring humanity as the rulers of the megaverse. As expected, he had only succeeded because of the invincible being. Only an Immortal could possess such power.
In that case, what should the High Seraph do? Who would rule over the three megaverses in the future?
This was not something that the High Seraph could simply let go of.
Two years passed in the blink of an eye, and it was nearly time for the Everstone Discourse to be recited.
Finally, Boundless was unsealed, and the first to visit the battleship was Shi Lin.
He requested an audience with Lu Yin and then asked if there was any news regarding Sage Qian. Shi Lin hoped to gain Lu Yin’s help in dealing with the affairs of the Consciousness Megaverse.
However, it was all to test Lu Yin.
During the time that Boundless had been sealed, the Consciousness Domain had faced immense pressure. The disappearance of the conscients meant that the domain was facing intense scrutiny from the Ascendant Hall. The Consciousness Domain had been ordered to recover the conscients as soon as possible.
Shi Lin felt utterly helpless. It was clear that the conscients had been taken by Lu Yin and then handed over to whoever was behind Sage Qian. Shi Lin had shared this information with Lan in hopes of having the High Seraph personally intervene, but the High Seraph had ignored the matter, leaving it for Shi Lin to handle on his own.
For two years, Shi Lin had devised many plans, racking his brain to find a way to persuade Lu Yin to help. Ultimately, he had decided to first meet with Lu Yin. If that failed, Shi Lin would have no choice but to seek an audience with the Wisdom Domain and ask for Old Yu’s assistance.
"Sage Qian? You still haven’t found him?" Lu Yin’s expression was strange. While he already knew that the seven major powers did not share information with each other, the extent of their lack of communication was too extreme.
Old Yu had already guessed that Boundless was cooperating with the Consciousness Megaverse, and Lu Yin had essentially confirmed the man’s suspicions. Despite that, the Consciousness Domain still knew nothing. On top of that, were they really trying to find Sage Qian through Lu Yin?
Was it possible that Shi Lin had been sent by Old Yu to test Lu Yin and discover his true intentions?
Was Lu Yin planning to work with the Spirit Nidus to reset the Consciousness Megaverse, or was he allying with the Consciousness Megaverse to fight back against the Spirit Nidus?
However, judging from Shi Lin’s troubled expression, he did not seem to be visiting Lu Yin in order to test him.
Shi Lin let out a helpless sight. "My Consciousness Domain has searched the entire Spirit Nidus, yet we are still unable to find Sage Qian. I ask you for some guidance, Lord Lu."
Lu Yin chuckled. "How could he possibly be in the Spirit Nidus?"
Shi Lin was stunned. "Then where is he?"
Lu Yin did not reply.
Shi Lin’s eyes flickered as he ground his teeth. "Two years ago, you sent people to my Consciousness Domain to gather resources, Lord Lu. At that time, the Consciousness Domain truly had nothing to offer you, and we could only disappoint you. For the last two years, the Consciousness Domain has done everything possible to gather resources. If this does not offend you, I hope that you will accept them."
The man then handed over a cosmic ring, which caused Lu Yin’s eyes to light up. Right, there are still the spirit seeds.
They had not done anything with the spirit seeds that they had collected two years ago. They might have been left in some random corner of Boundless.
It was not possible to destroy them, as doing so would simply cause the seeds to reappear elsewhere in the Spirit Nidus. The only choice was to store them away. However, someone was taking the initiative to deliver more spirit seeds to Lu Yin.
Reluctantly, he accepted them. "Now that’s more like it."
Shi Lin looked at Lu Yin with great anticipation as he waited for the man to speak.
Lu Yin just pointed upward, much to Shi Lin’s confusion. "Lord Lu, what do you mean?"
Lu Yin said, "Given the severity of Sage Qian’s crime, of course he wouldn’t stay in the Spirit Nidus. He must be in some parallel universe. Think about it—the megaverse consists of endless parallel universes. No matter how strong you might be, you’d never find him if he hid in a random universe, would you?"
Shi Lin stared blankly at Lu Yin, not showing any hint of his rising fury. If not for being the weaker party, Shi Lin would have already attacked. How was this anything more than pure nonsense?
He had expected some kind of clue from Lord Lu, yet the man was just toying with the Consciousness Domain.
"What’s wrong? You still haven’t figured it out?" Lu Yin arched a brow while showing obvious contempt. "You should be careful. Training your consciousness too much might leave you all idiots. Search for the clues yourself. Check the Vast Qian Domain and see if any traces were left behind. Do I really need to hold your hand in this?"
Shi Lin suppressed his anger, doing his best not to reveal anything to Lu Yin. "May I ask, Lord Lu, do you have any clues?"
"Of course not," Lu Yin answered bluntly.
Shi Lin was absolutely furious, yet he had no choice but to suppress his rage. "In that case, I’ll take my leave."
Lu Yin gave a small nod. "Go ahead. If there’s something you don’t understand, feel free to come back and ask me again."
Shi Lin turned around and left, his face absolutely livid.
After he left, many people aboard Boundless burst out laughing. They held absolutely no goodwill towards the cultivators of the Spirit Nidus.
Astral Anura was cackling especially loudly, only to quickly fly into a rage because of some news that they received: Emperor Slayer had escaped.
That old bastard had stolen a battleship and had left the Spirit Nidus entirely. Judging by what had happened, the old lizard was currently on his way to the Consciousness Megaverse. He had even claimed that he would accomplish great things for the Spirit Nidus.
Because of this, the Phantom Reach had immediately removed Emperor Slayer from the Black Spirit List, as any who chose to fight on behalf of the Spirit Nidus were considered worthy.
Astral Anura was furious, and the toad stomped his feet while cursing. "Shameless! That shameless old bastard! He ran away just to avoid me! So shameless!"
Ce Wangtian gloated, "I told you that that old bastard was unreliable. Not only did he escape, but he even managed to avoid you entirely and got himself taken off of the Black Spirit List. It’s quite impressive. When I think back, his smile at that time was really dazzling."
Astral Anura could only continue cursing, powerless to do anything about the situation.
Who could blame the toad? Boundless had been sealed off without any forewarning, and Emperor Slayer had fled without hesitation. Clearly, he had planned out an escape path long ago.
Two years had passed in the blink of an eye, and the Spirit Nidus still had not recovered from the sudden peace brought about by Boundless’s sealing when Everstone was suddenly struck.
The Everstone Discourse had begun. Cultivators across the thirty-six domains found a comfortable place where they could listen in silence. Many felt incredible anticipation and excitement, especially those who were about to undergo their Spirit Rebirth. This was the moment that they had been waiting for.
