Liu Haozhe read a lot and was modest. As long as he was willing to, he was capable of making Han Jinyu giggle like a little child.
That day, they walked along the grove to the river again.
Han Jinyu found that when she saw Liu Haozhe for the first time, she thought that he was average-looking and not handsome. But after getting along more often, she found that this man was becoming progressively good-looking. Inadvertently, he could make her heart flutter and palpitate wildly with just a glance.
For example, he was standing side by side with her by the river with his hands in his pockets. Smiling slightly, his eyes were gentle and focused as he looked at her sideways, making her feel that she was his favourite person.
When she thought about what happened when he was 14, she couldn’t help but feel a little knot form in her heart. Of course, she already tended to think that Liu Haozhe was wrongly accused. After all, that was what her Third Brother’s investigation data said.
She thought she was clever enough to bring this matter into their conversation without showing any trace of suspicions, so she asked him, “I heard that you were framed when you were a child, playing gangster towards a neighbouring girl.”
Liu Haozhe originally smiled slightly whenever he was talking to her. After hearing these words, the muscles around his eyes twitched and his smile became colder. His gaze became chillingly darker and there was no longer the hint of a smile in his tone of voice.
“Han Qingshan, you had your Director brother investigate me.”
Han Jinyu immediately put the blame away, “No, I…it’s not me, it’s my Third Brother who did it. He just wanted to be at ease.”
Liu Haozhe looked at her sideways and raised his eyebrows slightly. She had no idea how shallow and stupid she was— she wasn’t smart enough to lie on the spot, and yet she was doing it anyway.
“Are you relieved now?” Liu Haozhe had a sarcastic smile on his lips. If she truly was relieved, she wouldn’t even bring it up.
Han Jinyu wrung his fingers, “I believed all this time that you were framed and you never did any of that…did you?”
“Then do you think I actually did it?” Liu Haozhe turned around and faced her, his hands still in his trouser pockets.
Seeing him like this, Han Jinyu actually felt that he had the temperament of a Young Master of a wealthy family.
“Hmm?” Liu Haozhe looked at her, prompting an answer.
“I…” Han Jinyu listened to his slightly cold voice and her heartbeat started to beat faster. She was the one who looked down at him at first, but she didn’t know why, with every consequent meeting, she became more infatuated with him. In the end, subconsciously, she was starting to fear that she was going to lose him.
Why was this happening?
“Do you like someone else?” Han Jinyu expressed her intuition all along, thinking that he was always looking at someone else through her.
Who was to look at?
Liu Haozhe smiled and said, “You’re so suspicious— If I didn’t like you, do you think I would go on dates with you? You would have every right to say that I’m being prideful, after all. All I want is to get married to the right person, but with my conditions, there was no way I was going to be qualified enough to marry the younger sister of the County Revolutionary Committee’s Director.”
“But, d-do you…do you love me?” Han Jinyu mustered up the courage to ask.
“Haha!” Liu Haozhe laughed, “Comrade Han Qingshan, you are absolutely adorable. I am most definitely going to fall in love with you.”
