Chapter 257: The Big Misunderstanding
Just as Su Lin and the others got out of the car, a Porsche entered the hotel from another entrance. The sound of its horn drew their attention.
“Is that Yanyan and the others? They arrived so quickly?”
Lin Xiaowan chuckled, “We shouldn’t have called them; they arrived just as we hung up.” 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘱𝘶𝑏.𝑐𝘰𝑚
As they spoke, Qin Jiuyue drove into the driveway. The women also spotted Su Lin and his group. The car stopped at the entrance, and the two women got out. Zhao Yanyan approached Xia Shiyu and exclaimed, “Xiaoyu, I told you we’d be quick, right? How fast was that?”
Xia Shiyu nodded, “I never said I doubted you.”
After parking the car, Qin Jiuyue looked around and asked, “What’s the occasion today that we needed to celebrate?”
Su Lin smiled, “It’s a big celebration, I’ll tell you about it later.”
Both Zhao Yanyan and Qin Jiuyue were curious. Su Lin had never used the phrase “big celebration” before, making them wonder what could be so special.
“Let’s go up, Ziyu and the others are waiting for us upstairs.”
“Okay~!”
The group entered the Four Seasons Hotel, where the security and staff, who recognized them by now, greeted them warmly. They were particularly memorable, partly because they often visited with Li Ziyu, and partly because of their striking appearances.
Xia Shiyu remarked, “Ziyu really manages things well here, look at the staff’s enthusiasm; our Rainforest company’s employees aren’t this passionate.”
Zhao Yanyan laughed, “Xiaoyu, I’m surprised you still remember your company. I thought you had forgotten about your own people since joining Su Corporation.”
Xia Shiyu blushed slightly, “What are you talking about, Yanyan? I’m still the general manager of Rainforest. How could I forget my own company?”
“Hehe… then you and Xiaowan should visit sometime. The company’s staff think you’ve been overshadowed by us.”
Lin Xiaowan sighed, “With so much going on at Su Corporation and Su Lin dumping everything on us, how do we have time to go back?”
Su Lin coughed awkwardly, “Elevator’s here, let’s go up, go up~!!”
Zhao Yanyan rolled her eyes at him, “All you do is laze around, dumping work on Xiaowan and Xiaoyu, and then you call it making the most of their abilities.”
“Cough, cough, cough… Yanyan, what are you talking about? How is that bullying? I write code too, you know,” Su Lin said, feigning innocence.
“Hmph.”
A few minutes later, they arrived at the private room booked by Li Ziyu. Opening the door, they saw Li Ziyu and Jiang Ruoxi whispering to each other, with Jiang Ruoxi looking particularly ingratiating.
Upon seeing the door open, both stood up.
Li Ziyu spoke, “The dishes are all prepared; should I ask them to start serving?”
Su Lin nodded, “Of course, let’s start. there aren’t many of us who drinks; just eating and chatting will be fine.”
“Right, I think Su Lin’s right. Let’s eat and talk; it’s rare for us all to be together.”
“Then good, I’ll go tell them to start serving.”
Su Lin noticed Jiang Ruoxi looking somewhat out of place and said with a smile, “Ruoxi, why are you standing? Have a seat.”
“Ah! Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt your gathering.”
Lin Xiaowan laughed, “No worries, we’re just eating and talking.”
“That’s right, Ruoxi, don’t overthink it.”
By this point, Jiang Ruoxi was nearly in tears; how could she not overthink? She was aware of the relationships these women had with Su Lin. Unlike them, she wasn’t Su Lin’s girlfriend, which made the situation incredibly awkward.
“He Suxi, why don’t you sit next to me?”
He Su nodded in agreement, “Okay~!!”
It was then that Jiang Ruoxi noticed He Suxi wearing a men’s-style robe, which did not look out of place on her. What drew Jiang Ruoxi’s attention most was the long sword He Su carried on her back. He Suxi’s ethereal quality, along with her air of being untouched by the mundane world, was truly unforgettable.
Jiang Ruoxi thought to herself, “She must be the ‘Human Immortal’ my uncle talked about.”
Sensing something, He Suxi looked up at Jiang Ruoxi, who quickly lowered her head. Just one glance made Jiang Ruoxi feel as if He Suxi could see right through her, that penetrating gaze making her heart skip a beat.
If He Suxi spoke to her now, Jiang Ruoxi felt she might be too nervous to respond.
He Suxi smiled slightly, “Are you the young lady from the Jiang family?”
Jiang Ruoxi, taken aback by the direct address from a Human Immortal, nodded timidly, “Yes, elder…”
He Suxi smiled warmly, “Xiaowan and Su Lin call me Aunt Su, you can call me that too.”
Jiang Ruoxi was thrilled, “Can I really?”
People of He Suxi’s stature typically dislike strangers trying to claim close relations, as it could lead to misuse of their name.
Such grandmasters often had few direct disciples and guarded their reputations carefully, only recognizing true kin. This kind of familiarity was rare. Jiang Ruoxi looked at Su Lin and Lin Xiaowan, her guess seeming more certain.
“Of course,” He Suxi smiled.
After she spoke, she glanced meaningfully at Su Lin, as did Li Ziyu and Lin Xiaowan. Su Lin, puzzled, touched his face, wondering why they looked at him when Aunt Su mentioned family ties.
He mentally chuckled, realizing everyone probably thought Jiang Ruoxi was his next romantic conquest. In truth, Su Lin no longer needed to work on gaining anyone’s favor.
Despite Jiang Ruoxi’s beauty and her protagonist status, Su Lin had become quite indifferent; the women already by his side were enough. He had explained this many times, but it seemed Lin Xiaowan and Li Ziyu never believed him.
Resigned, Su Lin thought, “Let them think what they want; it makes things easier.”
Caught by Lin Xiaowan’s gaze, Su Lin pointed to the dishes on the table, “Why are you looking at me? I’m not the food, eat.”
Lin Xiaowan, with a mischievous glint in her eye, teased, “That’s what you get for flirting around.”
Her voice was soft, but clear enough for everyone, including Jiang Ruoxi, who practiced martial arts, to hear.
Jiang Ruoxi suddenly understood why He Suxi was so friendly; she blushed furiously, realizing He Suxi might consider her Su Lin’s girlfriend, or potentially one. Thinking this, Jiang Ruoxi felt her cheeks burning. This was a big misunderstanding.
