Chapter 1087: Time to Separate

Vicente opened his eyes, finding himself surrounded by opponents, several enemies attacking him with their special abilities, faces molded into expressions of anger and astonishment. Those individuals had lost their chance to get a valuable violet pentagram of natural origin or even to destroy one of the most powerful essences that could emerge in all of Anicane.

Naturally, the group was furious. But to see the enemy of them all, a group of peak experts from Humfail Reef, manage to withstand all their attacks, absorb a pentagram and even grow stronger under their assault, was mind-blowing.

Even the members of the island’s sovereign force couldn’t help but recognize this foreigner’s strength, their eyes a reflection of how worried they were about the presence of such a creature in their domain.

If Vicente could do all that as a mid-level Grand Magus, what would he be capable of as a Sorcerer?

Concern flooded the minds of the members of the island’s sovereign force as Vicente’s powers strengthened a few folds.

Every form of attack that was about to reach closer to Vicente’s body, that was about to finally overcome his defensive powers, was swept away by his even stronger forms of counterattack.

The surrounding space distorted, with several blades of mana and air disappearing from that area, reappearing far from where Vicente was. The robotic forms around him transformed, forming more powerful versions of himself, along with the strengthening of the electromagnetic field around him.

Although Vicente’s evolution today was related to his second magical form, as his level increased, his first-form abilities also became stronger.

Amid all this, the shadows of the 12 enemies who had attacked him solidified into demons of the underworld, who attacked them amid the feeling of paralysis that Vice’s magnetic powers made them feel at that instant.

From his throne of light and darkness, Vicente remained seated, only raising one of his hands in the air, while seven spears of light formed around him, floating in the air, trembling to be propelled forward.

He looked at his enemies and in an instant decided who he would mow down and who he would allow to stay alive. Just seven golden spears of light shot out from his position, crossing space at a speed that was impossible to follow visually.

One moment, the spears of light were floating around Vicente, and the next they had already pierced through the bodies of the seven enemies from the end of the 8th stage that he had chosen to assassinate.

Seven bodies fell to the ground, while five individuals were forced to their knees by the demons of darkness. Their powers were totally blocked now, while each of these representatives of the local royal forces broke out in a cold sweat, looking at the natives killed by Vicente.

Vicente continued with his powers active, but finally said something, "You are members of the sovereign force of Humfail Reef and so I will give you the chance to put down your weapons and leave. I’ve been allowed to hunt in this forest and I’ve made use of that permission now. I will leave a seal on your bodies that will prevent you from talking about what happened for as long as I am on the island. In the meantime, use some excuse to justify your failure on this mission. I have no desire to face your Sorcerers."

The five men felt trapped, obviously fearful, as they valued their lives, but were also angry at being in such a passive position. They didn’t want to help this powerful enemy, but in this situation, they could only remain silent.

As his 16 pentagrams floated around him, Vicente threw the five seals at these individuals using a sealing ritual. He knew what was on these men’s minds and said, "But don’t get me wrong, locals. I’m not afraid of your Sorcerers. I particularly don’t want to fight them, especially considering how open your people have been to me. In a way, I’m grateful to your empire. But don’t mistake that for weakness. If they come to me in any way, I’ll show them what a Real Sorcerer is capable of!"

The men saw the symbols of the ritual in performance connecting their souls to Vicente’s nefarious hands, each of them trembling with horror at that moment.

Vicente was already powerful as a monster for having two magical forms and pentagrams of such good qualities, but being a Real Sorcerer only made it worse.

Supposedly, Real Sorcerers could summon their powers from the Hell or Argardus, existences that were superior to the strongest islands in Anicane!

As strong as the Humfail Reef was, the island was only an intermediary in Anicane. It didn’t even have Real Sorcerers of the Eighth Class, as Vicente clearly was. So when they imagined how he could reach the Ninth Class, if he hadn’t already, those men trembled with fear, aware that not even the Sorcerers of their empire would be able to fight someone like that.

With these men sufficiently terrified, Vicente finished his sealing ritual, ensuring that the truth of that night would not escape the minds of these five individuals. It wouldn’t be 100% efficient, but it was enough to buy him some time.

As soon as he had finished there, Vicente saw where his allies were, as well as the surrounding observers. Some individuals from earlier had fled, while others were still around. He launched his ritual against those left behind, not thinking of doing anything about those who had fled.

In less than a minute, after sealing the minds of the empire’s envoys, most of the creatures there had left, while Rex and Lyra had collected the resources of the 7 dead specialists.

"Let’s go." Vicente said as he finished everything there. "It won’t be long before the truth of today spreads. Hopefully, we’ll have time to get back to our ship and get off the island before we’re chased."

"Won’t your ritual protect us?" Larissa asked, having always been quite confident in his powers and therefore finding Vicente’s words strange.

"This place has Sorcerers. I don’t know how a Sorcerer’s powers can interfere with mine... We’d better leave as soon as possible."

Larissa understood, deeming it appropriate.

With Lyra and Rex ready to leave, they took the opposite route that had brought them there. But not long after they began their journey, Larissa exposed her thoughts from earlier.

"By the way, the time is coming for me to part company with you, Vicente," she said with a green smile. "Humfail Reef isn’t the place for me, but I’ll do my best to stay on the next island we stop at. I’ll go it alone from then on."

Vicente looked at her with a mixture of regret but also recognition. Traveling alongside companions was good. He liked having someone to talk to and give him a different point of view on things.

Prisiche helped a lot, but she was far from being an independent person with her own story. That’s why he liked to have each of his companions. But at the same time, he understood perfectly well that, with each level he improved, being by her side became more dangerous, despite the opportunities.

Having expected Larissa’s position, he accepted her decision well. "All right. The next island we stop at, we’ll be careful not to make enemies and investigate the place thoroughly before we split up. We’ll make sure it’s a good place for you."

She smiled, grateful for Vicente’s position and words.

"For now, let’s focus on leaving this place and surviving another trip across the Sea of Stars!"
