Breakfast was a pleasant and suspiciously lovely surprise. There was a lot more food there than usual, and the Grandmaster urged them to eat more, as they needed and should eat a lot. None of them was about to refuse, and those who had already studied under the grandmaster before ate no barrels held back were keenly aware that he was a demon in human skin when it came to training.
Tang Yin felt the trauma of the paper mountains come back when he had taken his task as the main and sole lecturer of the literary department a bit too seriously, and then his hour-long discussions with her brother and Gale when a topic of interest rose.
The meat broth and the others started to eat more and more until their bellies were filled, while the hall slowly filled. Tang San meanwhile dashed away at some point to get Oscar when he still wasn't there. After all, he knew the best that something was about when the Grandmaster was being this forthcoming.
After breakfast, they all lined up. The grandmaster spoke up. "I talked with all of you yesterday and came to an understanding about your spirit abilities. So from now on, I will be giving you tasks." His gaze locked onto Dai Mubai
"Yes."
"From now on, you will knock out the other one by one without causing any injuries."
"Ah." Dai Mubai stared at the grandmaster, who coolly explained the situation.
"You are a rank thirty-seven spirit master. The other, except Tang Yin, barely broke through their thirties. I am sure there is no problem for you."
"Tang San." He said, and Tang San stepped forward in front of Dai Mubai.
"You are not allowed to use your third spirit ability or your weaponry, " the grandmaster said, Dai Mubai looking at him even more surprised.
"Grandmaster, I highly doubt that is fair. Tang San's spirit power is lower than mine, and his restricted powers greatly increase my advantage."
"If he uses his third spirit ability you won't stand a chance. As a control spirit master, he counters your skills and is the most powerful class in a duel. Since you asked for it, Tang san, you can use your third spirit ability." The Grandmaster nodded at his student. Who nodded at him and then glanced at Tang Yin who gave him a thumbs up.
"Go get him." She shouted and cheered her brother on while he and Dai Mubai got ready.
Then Zhu Zhuquing put her hand on Tang Yin's shoulder and all of them took a step backwards. A battle between two Spirit Elders was not a joke, and without perfect control from both fighting parties, it was easy for onlookers to be injured.
"Little San." Dai Mubai said with a grin. "I won't hold back."
A pale white light burst forward from Dai Mubai and his body cracked as he released his spirit.
Blue light flashed from Tang San's body. The river grass, influenced by the demon spider, was more slender than before as it spread out from his feet. Slowly Tang San rose his right Hand towards the growling Dai Mubai.
Everyone's attention was focused on the two of them.
Dai Mubais' growl grew deeper as a purple light emanated from his body. He rushed forward while using his third spirit ability, his body fortifying even more.
On the sidelines Tang Yin winced, yes, that was maybe not his best idea.
Tang Sans river grass shot forward from all directions like a wave, rushing towards Dai Mubai. Dai Mubai, who identified as a strong-power combat spirit Master, didn't even try to dodge. Agility was not his strong point. He met the river grass head-on, the golden light from his body shining brilliantly.
Dai Mubai managed to take three steps forward until he slowed down and, in a few steps further, came to a complete halt. Tang Sans grass coiling around him like a snake, the vines silently trying to pierce his skin. If it wasn't for his transformation and hardened skin, Dai Mubai would have already been poisoned.
But Dai Mubai was not an opponent that went down all too fast. Seeing that he was unable to overpower him. Dai Mumbai decided to switch tactics. Claws sprang forward from his hands as he slashed through the river grass that got ripped into shreds beneath his assault.
Tang San, though, wasn't fazed. His goal had not been to stop Dai Mubai, but merely to slow him down. Tang Yin hissed as she watched, knowing very well why her brother did what he was doing.
Dai Mumbai too spotted the light coming from Tang Sans' hand and spirit ability. He grunted, knowing he would need time now more than anything, he went sidewise.
That very moment a giant Net unfurled over him.
