Chapter 70: 70:Ariana’s Resolve
Kael Veydrin.
He was infamous, known as the embarrassment of the Veydrin family. A failure. A disgrace. He had never awakened any power and was denied entry to the Academy, where noble children trained to become leaders and warriors. If not for being the Grand Duke’s son, no one would have even remembered his name.
In her past life, by this time, Kael had ruined himself. At a noble gathering, he had been accused of molesting her fiancé. Because of this, he was beaten mercilessly by Vale Ryder, the soon-to-be Hero, and was stripped of his noble title. Cast out with barely any wealth, he had vanished from high society.
A year later, his name resurfaced—only as a tragic headline. Kael Veydrin, found dead in a swamp, killed by lowly gutter rats.
Ariana clenched her fists. "What changed? Why is he still here? Is it because of my rebirth?"
The possibility of things going out of hand or the possibility of her being in a different world worried her a bit.
The idea seemed impossible, yet here he was alive, powerful, and nothing like the weak fool from before.
Ariana then shook her head and slammed her cheek.
"So what if nothing goes as planned in future.I still have the experience and my knowledge after I became a Master swordsmanship."
"I won’t run away from hardship this time.*
Her thoughts drifted to what was coming.
Tonight was the day when the disaster struck.
Undead attacks followed by the beast tide.A monstrous rampage that would tear through the town, leaving nothing but blood and destruction.
In her past life, she had been just a naïve girl trying to please everyone in the family. 𝖓𝔬𝔳𝔭𝖚𝖇.𝔠𝔬𝖒
When her stepmother arranged her marriage, she had thrown a tantrum, refusing to accept it. In response, she had been whipped and locked in the basement.
It was that punishment that had saved her life.
While she remained trapped, the undead tide had swept through the town, killing nearly everyone. And worse their lives had been sacrificed to evil God.
Only the Veydrin Knight Squad had arrived in time to rescue her.
The horrors she had witnessed that night had changed her forever. The fear, the desperation—it had awakened something inside her. She had trained relentlessly, becoming a swordswoman, pushing herself to survive. Eventually, she became a Sword Master.
And yet... it had all been for nothing.
Ariana’s hands trembled as she remembered her final moments. In her past life, she had sworn loyalty to Adele Veydrin, serving her as a knight. But Adele... that woman was a monster in disguise.
Behind her innocent smile hid the heart of a demon. She was prepared to do anything for power and together with Prince she went mad.
She had committed countless atrocities, summoning an evil god and becoming its vessel.
And she who tried to stop her thinking that it was Evil god influence had been betrayed. Left to die like nothing.
She bit her lip until she tasted blood. "I won’t let it happen again."
This time, she would change everything. And she knew exactly where to start.
Kael Veydrin.
She hadn’t sought him out before because, in her past life, he had been worthless. But now... something was different. He wasn’t just some weak noble anymore.
There was power in him.A dark mystifying and terrifying power. She could feel it.
And the old man...
How can she not know him?
He was the Lone Wolf of Veydrin.
A legend.
A madman whose rampage carves terror in the neighboring territories.
But now, he was treated like trash, ignored, and forgotten because of his sudden aging for an unknown reason.
"If I can gain his favor, I can survive. I can escape this house. And... I can warn them about the potential danger."
She shuddered, remembering the screams, the smell of blood, the countless innocent people who had died. She didn’t care about these monsters who had tormented her, but she couldn’t let the innocent suffer again.
"But the question was how to meet them?"
She looked around, desperate for a way out. Her eyes landed on the window.
Her heart pounded in fright. It was a risky. A stupid, reckless risk. But she had no choice.
She grabbed the bedsheets and curtains, knotting them together as tightly as she could. Wrapping the makeshift rope around her waist, she secured the other end to the heavy wooden table.
Taking a deep breath, she stepped onto the windowsill. The cold night air bit at her skin. Below, she could see a room, one floor down, slightly to the left.
"If I’m right... he’ll be there."
She closed her eyes, whispered a silent prayer, before jumping in.
...
Inside the guest room, Kael sat calmly, chewing on a piece of bread, while Ramos stood in front of him, huffing and puffing with rage. His fists slammed against the table, making the entire room tremble.
"You... bastard!" Ramos snarled, his face red with fury. "How dare you treat me like this?! How dare you?!"
Kael barely spared him a glance, stuffing more bread into his mouth as he spoke lazily. "Old man, don’t fuck with me."
Ramos’ eye twitched.
Kael leaned back, stretching his arms. "What are you? A small weak kid? If you actually showed your strength, no one could mess with you."
"But—"
"But what?" Kael cut him off, raising an eyebrow. "It’s not my fault that no one remembers you old geezer. You also seem to have masochistic tendencies, don’t you?"
His sharp gaze flickered toward the three knights standing behind Ramos as if asking for their opinion.
They all immediately turned their heads away, pretending they had heard nothing. Their expressions practically screamed.
Don’t look at us. We don’t know anything.
Just then, Chris hesitantly spoke up. "Is Grandpa really that famous? I mean, I’ve never seen anyone treat him with respect outside the teri—"
Before he could finish, Baret slapped a hand over Chris’ mouth, his face drenched in sweat. His eyes darted nervously toward Ramos, who stood frozen in place. His face twisted as if he had been struck with deep emotional damage.
A vein bulged on Ramos’ forehead. His expression turned into pure dogshit, and he looked ready to explode when a large sound tore the air.
"AAAHHHHHH!"
A high-pitched scream rang through the air.
Kael frowned and shouted," Don’t scream like bitch old man?"
"When the fuck did I scream?"Ramos snorted.
"Then,who the hell is screaming?"
"Screa—"
BAAAANG!
