Chapter 72: 72:Future Warning[II]
Kael frowned, eyeing Ariana with suspicion. "By the way, why did you come this way?"
"It’s because she was locked, you idiot?"Ramos grunted.
"Ohh!Sorry, I missed it. So why we’re you locked?"Kael asked.
Ariana hesitated. Should she cry and act pitiful? Or stay strong? She didn’t know how to answer.
Kael ran a hand through his messy hair, noticing how she fidgeted with her fingers. "Forget it. No need to explain. From your dress and bare feet, I already know."
Ariana glanced down at herself. She looked like a mess.
"You can leave now?"
Ariana froze a bit.’But how will I get down?’ 𝑛𝘰𝑣𝑝𝑢𝑏.𝘤𝑜𝘮
She hadn’t thought about that.
Kael clicked his tongue. "Of course you didn’t."
He then bent down on one knee. "Come on, hop on.I will give you a ride."
’WHAT?’
Chris, Baret, and Gare looked like they’d just seen a ghost.
Their jaws nearly hit the floor.
Chris opened his mouth to say something but Baret slapped a hand over it, glaring at him to shut up.
Ariana hesitated. "Are you sure?"
Kael’s eyes twitched. "Are you doubting me? If you don’t want my help, you can walk out through the door."
Ariana bit her lip. "No... Can you carry me?"
"Do you want to go or not?Do you want me to throw you out?"Kael asked coldly.
Without another word, Ariana jumped onto Kael’s back. He stood up, holding her like she weighed nothing, and walked toward the window.
"Hold on tight," he warned.
Then, with a swift movement, he leaped out and started climbing up the mansion.
Ramos rubbed his chin, watching them disappear into the night.
"The girl..." he muttered to himself. "She’s worth something."
Then, he turned to Kael’s knights, who still looked like they’d been struck by lightning.
"What’s wrong with you a lot? You look like you’ve seen a damn ghost."
"Haven’t you seen a man carrying a woman?"
"Sir, it’s different,"Baret spoke.
Gare, still staring at the window, finally spoke. "It’s just... The Lord hates being touched by women."
Ramos almost choked. "What? Is he gay?!"
Baret and Gare quickly shook their heads. "Of course not!"
"But he never lets maids near him," Baret added. "Won’t even let them help him change his clothes. He kicks them out."
Ramos’ face twisted in shock. "And you’re telling me this now?! That’s a huge problem!"
He groaned, rubbing his temples. "Forget it. We’ll deal with it later. For now, Baret, go inform the knight squad about what Ariana said. Better safe than sorry."
"Yes, Sir."
.......
Kael reached Ariana’s window and glanced inside. His eyes swept over the room.
It was awful.
The wooden furniture was broken, the bed frame cracked, and the sheets looked like they hadn’t been washed in ages. The air smelled of damp wood and dust.
Then, his gaze fell on the ragged clothes tied together to form a makeshift rope.
His expression darkened for a brief moment.
This girl... She really had it bad.
He turned to her. "My Lady, what are you planning to do next?"
"Pardon?"Ariana blinked at her wondering if she had heard something wrong.
Did this guy just call her respectfully?
Kael, noticing her expression, laughed off a bit.
"I was just teasing you a bit.I didn’t mean anything by calling you a duck. You are as beautiful as a maiden can be. Your hair is soft and silky and your eyes carry a mesmerizing sister."
"So be confident. This man doesn’t just like any woman he met."
Ariana, who had just squeezed through the window, looked at him.
For a second, her mind went blank with shock followed by a reddish tint painting her face as she blushed a bit but she managed to hide her face.
Getting complimented even though she was a fat chubby girl sweetened her heart unlike the past lives when she was hated for being ugly but after awakening as she lost her fate, people lined up to propose to her.
"Hey, don’t get lost in thought and tell me what you are planning to do next."
She snapped out of her thoughts and raised her head a but then she paused as the sight of Kael figure leaning against the window reflected in her eyes.
Handsome.
It was such a handsome figure.
Kael raised an eyebrow. "Well?"
Snapping out of it, she answered, "I... If possible, I want to run away."
Kael nodded. "Got it."
He turned to leave, but Ariana grabbed his sleeve. "Aren’t you going to ask me why?"
Kael didn’t even look back. "I already have a rough idea. No need to explain. I just hope you have a pleasant life ahead. It really sucks to get trampled by others especially when they belong to your own family."
A hint of sadness flashed in his eyes that didn’t go unnoticed in Ariana’s eyes. She was about to say something but Kael turned around.
With that, he jumped off the building leaving some parting words.
"Take care!"
Ariana stood there, staring after him with a dazed expression.
"What did he mean by that?"Ariana muttered a bit but then remembering about the Grand Duke’s house she completely understood.
"I already felt like dying when I was suppressed by such a weak group but in your case, you were suppressed by the entire Empire."
"Disregarded, and thrown out without a care."
She wondered how Kael in the past might have felt.
Did he cry?
Did he ask for help?
Did he beg for change?
Or did he try till the bitter end only to fail and die? And even after that, all he became was the source of entertainment and ridicule for others.
Ariana then shook her head and walked around picking a long stick the size of a sword.
"If I want to change I need to act right now?"
"I can’t waste time cause time waits for no one."
"Come on, Ariana, it’s time for the world to witness the fright of Red Plum Swordmistress.
