Chapter 76: 76:Time to Go Haywire
The room fell into dead silence.
Baron Altross’s throat bobbed as he swallowed hard. His mind raced, but no answer came. Across from him, the shadow figure was just as stunned, its dark form flickering slightly in disbelief.
Altross’s instincts screamed at him of possible danger. He pushed back his chair and stood abruptly.
"You... How did you get in here?" His voice was strained, his hands twitching. "No—more than that, how did you find the secret passage?"
Kael grinned, his fingers tapping the hilt of his sword. "Do I really need to explain?" He tilted his head, his tone playful. Then his gaze flicked to the shadow, and his grin widened.
"You... You reek of something rotten." Kael stepped closer, his eyes gleaming with madness. "Which Lord do you worship, huh? Some filthy thing hiding in the dark?"
The shadow chuckled, standing tall. "You are not worthy enough to know the name of the God we praise."
Then, turning to Baron Altross, it spoke coldly. "There is an emergency. I must act now."
Before Altross could react, the shadow vanished into thin air.
The Baron’s face twisted in anger as he turned to Kael. His fingers clenched around the hilt of his sword. His patience had run out.
"You just had to poke your nose where it doesn’t belong, didn’t you?" Altross growled. His lips curled into a sneer. "But this... this is good."
"Yes, this is also good."
"You managed to survive before but now..."His grip tightened and a maddening smile formed across his lips.
"So you accept that you sent a mercenary to kill after me,"Kael aske.
"Kekek...You are wrong..I didn’t sent rather I just helped them to know your location. The one who wants you dead is none other than your finance.."
Kael almost faltered hearing this.He had been brainstorming his mind to think of a way to make Baron confess however...
This mottherfucker just spoke on it’s own.
’FUCKKK!’
’This isn’t in the script.’
"If you want to blame someone, blame your fiancee and yourself for coming back here."
"With this, I can finally finish my unfinished work... and kill you."
In a blink, Baron Altross lunged ahead drawing his sword.
CLANG!
Steel met steel, sending a sharp, metallic ring through the office. Sparks flared as Kael stood his ground, his sword effortlessly blocking the strike.
Altross’s eyes widened. He had put everything into that attack and Kael should have been thrown off balance, should have staggered. But he didn’t. He just stood there.
"How?" Altross muttered in shock.
Kael tilted his head, his grin never fading. "Wrong question."
His grip on the sword tightened.
With a sharp push, he shoved Altross back, his feet dragging against the floor.
"You should be asking how strong I am."
Altross gritted his teeth and swung again.
Kael ducked, the blade slicing through the air just inches above his head. He twisted his body, his movements fluid like a snake. With a snap, he slashed forward, forcing Altross to jump back.
The Baron retaliated with rapid, heavy strikes, aiming to overpower Kael with brute force. Each blow sent tremors through the room, cracking the wooden floor beneath their feet.
Kael laughed, his sword dancing through the air. "Oh, come on! That’s all you’ve got?"
Altross’s patience snapped. With a roar, he brought his sword down in a powerful overhead swing.
Kael sidestepped at the last second.
CRASH!
The table behind him split in half, sending papers and ink flying.
Kael whistled. "Tsk tsk, you need to aim better, Baron. I almost felt that one."
Altross didn’t reply. He spun, slashing wildly, forcing Kael toward the door.
Kael grinned, his movements like a blur, dodging each attack with minimal effort. He parried a blow, then another, forcing Altross backward.
Then..
BANG!
With a forceful kick, Kael slammed Altross against the door. The wood cracked under the impact.
"Tell me, Baron," Kael whispered, his blade pressing against Altross’s neck. "Why did you accept it without thinking ahead?"
Altross spat, his eyes burning with fury. "Go to hell!"
He lunged forward, swinging with all his might.
CRASH!
The door exploded open as both men crashed into the hallway, their swords still locked in battle as they burst out into the long corridor emitting loud noises.
.......
Servants gasped as the fight burst into the open. Maids dropped their trays, the sound of breaking plates echoing through the halls. Guards reached for their weapons, their eyes wide in confusion.
"What in the—?!" one of them stammered.
The butler, Ron, nearly tripped as he rushed forward. "My Lord! What is—?!"
Kael just cackled, pushing Altross back with a flourish of his sword. "Didn’t expect a morning exercise like this, huh?"
Altross snarled, his breath ragged. "You... You insane bastard!"
Kael licked his lips, his eyes gleaming. "Thank you! I do take pride in my work."
He twirled his sword. "Now come on, Baron. Sing for me!"
Soon, the chaos was unleashed.
The loud crash of splintering wood echoed through the hallway.
Baroness Hela and Albert, who had been in the middle of a discussion with a few servant, turned sharply at the noise. Their eyes widened in shock as they saw Baron Altross and Kael locked in a vicious duel, swords clashing violently.
The sight was nothing short of madness—furniture lay in ruins, shattered glass littered the floor, and the walls bore deep scars from wild swings. Servants stood frozen in terror, some hiding behind pillars, others peeking cautiously from doorways.
Baroness Hela gasped, her face paling. "Lord Kael! What in the name of the gods are you doing?!"
Albert, already drawing his own sword, shouted. "You lunatic! Stop this at once!"
Kael didn’t even bother looking at them. With a wide grin, he blocked another heavy strike from Baron Altross, the force shaking the ground beneath them.
"Ah, finally!" Kael laughed, his voice dripping with amusement. "The audience arrives! Took you long enough."
Albert took a step forward, his eyes burning with rage. "You bastard! This is our home, and you dare—"
"Oh, shut up," Kael cut him off, rolling his eyes. "Can’t you see I’m busy?"
With a sharp push, he sent Altross stumbling backward. Then, flashing Albert a wicked grin, he continued, "Your dear father and I are having a heart-to-heart. You know, some honest conversations. No lies, no games. Just swords."
Baroness Hela’s hands trembled as she pointed at Kael. "You—you monster! How dare you raise your blade against my husband?!"
Kael tilted his head mockingly. "Monster? Oh, sweetheart, you flatter me." His grin widened. "But tell me, why does your precious husband get so jumpy when I ask a few innocent questions? Hm?"
Albert’s grip on his sword tightened. "You bastard—"
Kael took a slow step toward him, his expression turning almost playful. "Oh? Are you planning to join in?" He licked his lips, eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Now that would make things interesting."
Baroness Hela screamed, stepping between them. "Stop this madness!"
Kael let out a dramatic sigh and threw up his hands. "Fine, fine! I’ll stop—"
Then, in an instant, he lunged.
Albert barely had time to react before Kael’s blade stopped an inch from his throat. The young noble froze, his breath catching.
Kael’s grin turned razor-sharp. "But tell me, boy, how well do you think you’d last against me?" His voice was a whisper, but it sent shivers down Albert’s spine. "Hmm? A minute? Maybe two?"
Baron Altross roared and charged again, but Kael spun away, laughing while kicking away Albert "Ah, ah, ah! We still haven’t finished our chat, Baron!"
With a flick of his wrist, he deflected Altross’s sword once more.
Then he leaned in, whispering, "Now, where were we?"
