Chapter 949: Chapter 71: Reunion with Hela
At the Hvagmir Spring.
Luo En and Thor spread their arms and sat by the pool, while Yemengarde lay on his back on the water’s surface, quietly floating. The two and the cat enjoyed the unique Healing service together.
The water from the Active Spring, rich with Vitality, washed over their bodies, cleansing them of external filth and exhaustion, repairing their injured muscles and bones, and bringing a tingling comfort that made their thoughts gradually become sluggish.
"Boom!"
A dull roar came from the spring not far away, splashing water several meters high, startling the drowsy pair and cat awake.
"Father God, Rune, grant me strength!"
Accompanied by the high-pitched chanting of Divine Words, a withered long spear wrapped with sharp arcs of light shot forward, and hissing of serpentine creatures echoed through the misty fog.
Not good, Brynhild!
Luo En’s gaze sharpened, and he immediately activated the Authority of Divine Speed, rushing into the spring nearby.
What he saw was that the originally crystal-clear spring water had turned a bloody red, with hundreds of mutilated snake corpses floating on the surface.
They had inky black scales and crimson eyes, some tens of meters long, and even though they were shattered by the powerful Magic Flow, the fragments of the carcasses were still writhing like earthworms, and unexpectedly, decapitated snake heads shot toward Brynhild in the pool.
Brynhild clearly didn’t expect that these Black Snakes could maintain such powerful Vitality even after being dismembered. The Defense she set up in a hurry unavoidably had flaws.
Seeing several snake heads break through the light net woven by the withered long spear and about to bite Brynhild, Luo En didn’t think twice; he stretched out his hand to make a grabbing motion, created a vacuum cyclone with Divine Power, and pulled her back to shore forcefully.
Instantly, a well-formed and graceful body crashed into his arms, the touch of his palm conveying a sensation that was both soft and firm.
Hearing the whimper by his ear, Luo En quickly let go.
Brynhild also got out of Luo En’s embrace with her face flushed, hurriedly creating some distance between them.
"Wait a moment!"
However, just as the Valkyrie was about to summon the Swan Feather Weave to cover her exposed body, Luo En firmly grabbed her shoulder, staring intently at her chest.
As the silhouettes of a man and a cat became clearer through the mist, Brynhild instinctively crossed her arms over her chest, her pretty face turning red, and seemingly steam rising from her head, she said weakly:
"My Lord..."
Without another word, Luo En drew a Rune under his feet, activating the Authority of Labyrinth, temporarily blocking the approaching Thor and Yemengarde, while frowning as he looked toward Brynhild:
"Remove your hands!"
The Valkyrie trembled but still bit her lip and obediently lowered her arms.
"Don’t move!"
With a stern command, Luo En pressed down on Brynhild’s arm, which had lowered halfway, and with his right hand formed into a claw, he quickly delved into the crevasse between the snowy peaks like lightning.
"Pfft!"
A spray of golden-red blood splattered, and the taken-aback Brynhild let out a groan, suddenly feeling an uncontrollable severe pain spreading through her body, trembling uncontrollably and breaking out in a cold sweat on her forehead.
Simultaneously, Luo En pinched his blood-stained index finger and thumb, eyeing the three-inch long, twisting and hissing Black Snake between them, and couldn’t help but frown.
I distinctly remember I should have blocked all of the snake heads.
Unless, this thing is not a real entity!
Luo En slightly exerted force on his fingertips, and the Black Snake instantly exploded with a hiss, turning into strands of grey-black mist.
Indeed, these Black Snakes seemed to be a condensation of some sort of death energy, and even if they were torn to pieces, the death energy would pass through the water and invade living beings.
No wonder the Hvagmir Spring has such a rich lifeforce; there are also few living creatures that visit.
Luo En thoughtfully looked at the spring, only to see that the snake corpses that had originally floated on the surface were turning into strands of grey-black mist, flowing back into the intertwined roots of the World Tree.
"There’s something strange beneath these roots!"
Hearing the warning, Brynhild immediately understood and arched her waist back, her body curling up like a Longbow drawn to the limit, concentrating Divine Power into her palms, and then hurling the fully charged withered long spear.
Perhaps because she was eager to comply, the Valkyrie seemed to have forgotten that she was completely naked.
And in that significant lean back and twist of the hips, her secrets were almost entirely revealed to Luo En’s eyes.
Luo En smiled wryly to himself and could only slightly turn away, looking at the arc of light that hit the ground.
"Boom!"
Many gnarled roots exploded apart, and countless Black Snakes of various sizes surged out from the hollow deep within the roots, screaming towards the shore.
In front of Luo En, Rune after Rune appeared, then shot forth like meteoric rain, bombarding the surging swarm of Black Snakes into drifting death energy.
The fierce bombardment was met with an equally ferocious counterattack.
"Bang!"
Giant waves rose in the pool, and gnarled roots were smashed and collapsed, with even the World Tree itself shedding leaves and dead branches in response.
Amidst the lingering mist of water vapor, a giant Shadow emerged from beneath the roots’ hollows, and a massive claw covered with black scales struck towards the shore.
Seemingly aware that the combination of Luo En and Brynhild was difficult to handle, the Monster chose another pair of living beings on the shore as its target for attack.
Caught off guard, the man and cat on the shore were swept into the water by the ensuing waves.
As the man and cat looked up, they were met with the sight of a vast head covered in sharp, black scales, its ferocious and enormous maw fixed upon them with haunting crimson eyes.
