Chapter 955: Chapter 73 Divine Skills No Match for Heavenly Number
As night fell, the burning firewood crackled, and the orange flames danced with the cold wind.
Thor rubbed his slightly aching back of the head and stood up from the ground.
Seeing the culprit leisurely warming himself by the fire, he couldn’t help but burst into anger, accusing with a sullen face:
"You disloyal traitor! To think I trusted you so much, yet you sneak attacked me from behind!"
"Other than the hit on your head, did you sustain any other injuries?"
Upon hearing Luo En’s question, Thor stunned for a moment, then thoroughly checked himself and scratched his head in surprise:
"It seems not..."
"Nonsense. If it weren’t for me desperately protecting you and Yemengarde, Hela would have minced you into filling long ago."
Luo En replied irritably, casually poking at the fire.
The flickering firelight cast a large shadow of confusion on Thor’s face:
"You knocked me out to help?"
"What else? You were so injured yet insisted on fighting. If something had happened to you, how would I explain to Odin?"
Luo En answered self-righteously, and as his emotions set in, he pointed at the empty spot beside him and let out a deep sigh, 𝑛𝘰𝑣𝑝𝑢𝑏.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"To protect you, I even neglected Brynhild."
"Brynhild is in trouble?"
"Hela took advantage of my unguarded moment and captured her. She said if we want to rescue Brynhild, we have to plead with her in the deepest palace of the Netherworld."
"Then what are we waiting for? Let’s set off immediately!"
Thor, clutching the Thunder God’s Hammer, sharply got to his feet, eager to hurry.
Seeing his great nephew’s reaction, Luo En nodded secretly.
Although a bit of a blockhead, the boy was still quite decent. It would truly be a waste to use such good material just to take one hit for him.
While the unscrupulous uncle was scheming with ill intentions, he grabbed the eager Thor, who was ready to rush off on a rescue mission, and patiently persuaded him:
"Based on my understanding of your sister, Brynhild won’t be in any danger before I arrive. Let’s rest up here first, and it won’t be too late to set off after regaining our strength."
In fact, regaining strength was secondary; what Luo En was most worried about was that Thor, the hot-headed, would confront Hela with his hammer as soon as he saw her, thus destroying any chances of negotiations between himself and Hela.
Therefore, any plans and precautions needed to be agreed upon before heading out to prevent Thor and Yemengarde from acting impulsively and ruining everything.
Just as Luo En was contemplating how to broach the subject, a thunderous buzzing sound came from the side. Yemengarde shook his cat-head and stood up from the ground, gazing eagerly at the two humanoid beings in front of him.
Ever since being taken away from the Frost Giant King’s palace, it had never really had a full meal.
On this journey, it fought against Black Dragon King Nidhogg and then jointly battled Death Goddess Hela with Thor.
After continuous exertion, Yemengarde was already so hungry that even mud seemed like food.
Luckily, it was accompanied by two humanoid beings who, in its experience, often burst something out to feed it. As long as it behaved, lying on the ground and letting them pet it was fine.
"Don’t look at me, I’ve already eaten all I brought on the way. And this is the Netherworld, there are plenty of departed souls but not many living creatures, I have no idea where to get you food."
Luo En spread his hands, genuinely helpless.
Just as Yemengarde was disheartened and lowered its cat-head, contemplating whether to eat some dirt to stave off hunger, a hearty laugh rang out:
"Don’t worry, I’ve got something here!"
As he spoke, Thor slammed the Thunder God’s Hammer to the ground, and silver thunderbolts wove a huge Magic Circle Diagram on the ground. Two goats with spiral horns, as large as a small hill, emerged from the thunderbolts, pulling a bronze chariot.
"What are these?"
"Tangrisniel and Tangrjosniel, though I usually call them Grinder and Biter. These were my coming-of-age presents from my mother."
Thor replied with a smile, the "mother" naturally referring to Goddess Freya.
It must be said that this God Queen was indeed a great helpmeet. Though in a high position, she was not envious; despite not yet bearing children for Odin, she treated Odin’s other children as her own, even raising them herself.
Therefore, Thor, Tyr, Heimdall and the other children of Odin held a great respect for their stepmother.
Meanwhile, Thor lifted the Thunder God’s Hammer in his hand and smashed it down on the heads of the two goats.
Accompanied by a cry of pain, the two goats collapsed with a bang, twitched a few times, and gradually stopped breathing.
Seeing this, Thor immediately put away his hammer, took out a knife and expertly skinned the two goats, removed the organs, and cleaned them before skewering them on a Long Spear to roast.
Sensing the astonished gazes from behind, Thor turned around and voluntarily explained:
"These Divine Beasts come from the Warner Divine Race, blessed with Said Witchcraft, and they symbolize the Fertility of the Earth. They have the power of regeneration, so even if we eat up all their flesh, as long as their bones and hides remain intact, I can use the power of the Thunder God’s Hammer to bring them back to life."
Luo En nodded thoughtfully as if understanding.
He had heard that Thor’s goats were quite special, and he was indeed curious about their taste and how different it was from regular goat meat.
To prevent Thor from carelessly wasting resources, Luo En took on the task of cooking, personally preparing the two Divine Beasts.
Under the care of this God of the Hearth from Greece, notches were cut into the large bodies of the goats to absorb flavor, rubbed with salt and various spices, and the massive bodies were turned continuously over rising Gold Flames.
