Chapter 1319: Wind Starts_1 Chapter 1319: Wind Starts_1 Emerging from the building, Dallyn playfully ruffled Jayden Moore’s hair, earning herself a disgusted look.
“I’m in a good mood today.
I heard the wine duck from Coral Island is famous, how about I treat you to it?
Eat as much as you want,” suggested Dallyn.
Upon hearing about the food, Jayden’s eyes lit up, nodding excitedly like a puppy.
Suddenly, Jayden squinted into the distance.
Even under the intense sunlight, Dallyn felt a chill.
...
Jayden gripped the stick he had behind him, “We are being followed.”
Dallyn raised an eyebrow, “These people are way too greedy.”
“Let’s go Jayden, your sister will treat you to some good food.”
The pair immersed themselves in the busy marketplace, strolling along the famous Snack Street the entire day.
They only returned home when Jayden couldn’t possibly eat anymore.
“They entered the Drake residence?
You’re sure?”
“I saw them enter the Drake’s mansion with my own eyes, the Drake’s servants treated them with great respect.”
Ms.
Grant listened to the report relayed by phone, massaging her temple thoughtfully, “Keep an eye on them.
Any little movement needs to be reported immediately.”
After hanging up the phone, Ms.
Grant deliberated for a moment, then knocked on the office door.
After a pause, a deep voice emerged from within, “Come in.”
Suddenly, her heart pounded – it felt as if it was the calm before a storm.
Ms.
Grant pushed open the heavy office door, revealing a middle-aged man in a suit sat behind the desk.
His face was obscured by shadows, making it hard to see clearly.
“Sir, our men witnessed them stepping into the Drake estate.
We are in a crucial period now, this could be a trap set by the Drake’s.
You must not trust them.” 𝑛𝘰𝑣𝘱𝑢𝑏.𝘤𝑜𝘮
She had not heard what the girl said to their boss as she was outside the room.
But if the two individuals were indeed from the Drake family, then their intentions were highly suspicious.
“Those who play smart are only digging their own graves.”
The man’s cold comment sent a chill down Ms.
Grant’s spine.
She stuttered, “Sir…”.
“I’ve been at war with the Callums for so many years, it’s time to determine the victor.
This time, it’s either him or me.”
The man’s words were calm, but they incited rampant waves in Ms.
Grant’s heart.
The day had finally come.
——
Arwin Philbert was woken up by a phone call from an acquaintance.
He grumbled impatiently, “Interrupting my sleep, you better have something important…”.
Before he could finish speaking, Arwin suddenly sat upright on his bed, sleepiness disappearing instantly, “What the fuck!
What did you just say?”
The individual on the phone repeated his words.
Arwin pinched his thigh, inhaling sharply, “Is this not a dream?
The Callums have really! been taken down?
It feels so surreal!”
They were a force that had dominated Coral Island for years.
Over these years, anyone who dared to oppose them was basically signing their death warrant.
Arwin opened up Twitter, everything seemed peaceful, local news showcased a tranquil atmosphere.
Arwin felt a wave of pure terror, every hair on his body standing on end.
The more peaceful it was, the bigger the issue.
“Young master, young master, we have a problem…,” the Philbert’s housekeeper called out anxiously from outside the door.
Arwin, startled, ran outside barefoot, “What happened now?”
“The company has been doing business with Taran Callum! Now investigators from the prosecutor’s office are here.
You should go see for yourself.”
Arwin, bewildered, asked, “When did we start doing business with Taran?”
The housekeeper glanced around, lowered his voice and relayed surreptitiously, “Two years ago during the Southland Land Development project, they refused to sign off on it, so Mr.
Philbert…”.
The housekeeper mimed a gesture, “Otherwise, your first project after joining the company would’ve failed, which would’ve ruined your reputation among the shareholders.
Mr.
Philbert was merely trying to look out for you.
Who would’ve known that the Callums would suddenly collapse?
When a radish is pulled out, the earth comes with it, we’re done for now…
Should we try going through Mr.
Iver?
After all, he and Ms.
Fiorella were once…”.
Arwin shot the housekeeper a frosty look.
Realizing he’d said the wrong thing, the housekeeper hurriedly closed his mouth.
The situation was severe.
Arwin was brought away.
Meanwhile, news spread across Coral Island.
There were visibly fewer pedestrians on the street, all fearful they might be implicated in this.
As a pampered and privileged rich second-generation, Arwin couldn’t bear it after less than a day.
However, no matter what he said, those people wouldn’t believe him and continued to ask the same stupid questions relentlessly.
Finally, just as he felt like he was on the verge of a mental breakdown, he heard someone taking off his handcuffs.
A cold voice said, “The matter concerning the Philbert family has been thoroughly investigated.
You can go now.”
Arwin, dragging his heavy feet, walked out of the interrogation room.
The housekeeper immediately approached him, “Young master, you’ve suffered.
We can return home now.
You cannot imagine how worried the Madam and Miss were.”
Arwin rubbed his throbbing temple, “What actually happened?”
If he was really involved with the Callums, there was no way they would let him off easily.
The housekeeper leaned in and whispered, “It was Ms.
Grant who informed me to come and get you.
It was Mr.
Iver who, out of sentiment, bailed out the Philbert family this time.”
Arwin pulled a wry smile, “Who needs his favor.”
Just as he was about to leave, a woman’s breakdown could be heard from a room.
Arwin realized that the voice sounded familiar.
“Isn’t that Jobelle Callum’s voice?”
The housekeeper quickly grabbed his arm, nervously saying, “Young master, let’s leave quickly.
You should never have to return to this place.”
With Taran Callum in trouble, Jobelle couldn’t be faring any better.
Arwin had no affinity towards this woman.
The housekeeper had specially prepared a fire basin, “Young master, step over this to ward off the bad luck.”
Arwin stared at the burning flames and suddenly thought of something important.
If the Callums collapsed, Dustin Drake lost his support.
Given his past deeds, people would push the fallen wall.
Then, naturally, the succession right to the Drake family would fall into Nicholas Drake’s hands.
The timing of his return to Coral Island and the downfall of the Callums, could that really just be a coincidence?
Arwin suddenly felt his skin crawl.
He stepped over the fire basin, hurriedly getting into the car.
——
“I lost again?” Nicholas Drake shook his head with a smile of admiration on his face.
“Even if I practiced for ten more years, I wouldn’t be able to beat you.”
Aubree Groove’s style was like a gentle blade, slowly slicing the flesh.
By the time one feels the pain, it would be too late to make a comeback.
Just when he thought he’d figured out her style and was preparing to change strategies, she switched hers.
A swift blade, offering the opponent no chance to recover.
Just like her, appearing as clear as a serene stream, but in reality, she had unfathomable depths.
“With your skills in Go, it’s such a waste for you to go unnoticed.
You could participate in the World Go Tournament, with your skills, you could easily take win.”
Aubree Groove looked up at the willow catkins under the eaves.
They fluttered about, an enchanting sight like falling snowflakes.
“The wind is picking up.”
