The more powerful nations, of course, had the most connectivity with the continent and the rest of the world, with mega-corridors emerging directly between them and each other. Whether they explicitly said it or not, it was a known truth that the Sage-level powerhouses were the very foundation of the resistance to an invasion.
They needed the most immediate connection with each other.
The World Bridge, for the moment, was still reserved for the most urgent emergencies, for the energy expenditure bled even the Kandrian Empire, although joint technological ventures to lower the energy expenditure and the material requirements were already underway.
While the remaining nations didn’t have as many economic corridors emerging from them as the Sage-level nations did, it was still the case that the more powerful and relevant a polity, the greater its connection to the rest of human civilization.
These corridors weren’t merely roads but were also comprised of the simple paths but also energy and information infrastucture as well as defense systems that were meant to make travel through a beast domain covered world safe and secure.
What truly stunned the leaders of human civilization was the sheer size of the average mega-corridor.
It amounted to hundreds and hundreds of meter in thickness on average while the largest mega-corridors were almost a kilometer wide. It was as though the plan banded together all the roads and paths that used to exist across the continent and create a single corridor with all of them in tow.
It was a tremendously spacious path that could not only allow for massive industry-scale supply chains to proliferate across human civilization, but also allowed for private, military, and even Martial travel without compromising each other or the systems themselves.
"In human civilization’s first expansion across the Panama Continent, the paths and roads that we developed were organically created across a span of a thousand years," the Emperor of Harmony began. "However, we do not have the time and energy to comfortably begin an organic expansion project. No, our resources should be developed to strengthen human civilization in one way or another, not simply adding more land that will simply serve as a liability. We need to ensure that we exceptionally and aggressively pursue restoring the web of human civilization. Then and only then…"
His eyes sharpened.
"…can we protect ourselves from what is to come."
The Emperor of Harmony’s solutions clearly tackled parameters of human civilization that were deeply lacking. Human civilization’s inefficient and redundant intelligence sector. An entirely absent flow of resources, capital, and labor, through human civilization that was the foundation of efficient allocation of resources across the entire continent.
If human civilization had any chance of winning, it needed to centralize some of its most important and key parameters of performance in the event of an all-out war, just to ensure that it’s lagging inefficiencies and sub-optimal structure didn’t destroy any chance that it has to make a living from the gods of destruction.
A wave of terse approval washed over the leaders of human civilization as they beheld the proposals that the Emperor of Harmony laid before all of them with careful consideration of the disadvantages and benefits.
Centralizing much of public, private, and Martial intelligence around the world was a painful concession for many leaders, but it was worth it when they considered the fate of human civilization.
The Beast Incursion had already introduced collectivist thinking in the leaders of human civilization. From the Dawnbringer traveling across human civilization, collaborating and exchanging with nations that would have otherwise hated him and would have tried to kill him in the past.
The cheap distribution of food from the Britannian Empire’s Cornucopia, despite the opportunity to squeeze as much profit as possible. Prime Minister Edward was too far-sighted and intelligent to understand the consequences of such actions in the long run.
Prior to the Age of Darkness, the concept of sacrficing for the survival of human civilization was a foreign concept, after all, human civilization was the dominant force on the continent prior to the Beast Incursion.
However, even in the Age of Darkness, international cooperation hadn’t reached the levels that were possible now due to the Beast Incursion making land across all of human civilization very difficult to travel.
With the Beast Incursion gone and even more horrifying unfathomable existential threat to human civilization, human leaders understood that it was worth it to bleed a little to ensure that they didn’t die.
The Panamic Corridor Network Initiative was a much more amenable arrangement to all of them.
There wasn’t a single leader among them who didn’t miss the day of internation trade and commerce and the free flow of goods, services, capital, and people across human civilization. Any political qualms they may have had with it in the past was entirely irrelevant when the Beast Incursion had entirely destroyed all of it.
And yet, before they could even voice their support for these initiative, the Emperor of Harmony blasted them with more.
"Leaders of human civilization, this is not the extent of the international collectivist reforms that I propose." His tone was intense. "In fact, I would go as far as to say that it is the least important part of the collectivist reforms that I have in mind for the future of human civilization."
The air grew heavy as his eyes sharpened with severity.
"We cannot survive if we do not fight together."
His narrowed gaze swept across his audience with great intensity. "It doesn’t matter how much information and resources we share with each other if we don’t fight for each other when we need it."
Leaders of human civilization understood where he was going with this.
And they weren’t sure that they liked it.
"I propose the Panamic Martial Defense Treaty," the Emperor of Harmony solemnly declared. "A treaty that mandates all its constituents to deploy as much Martial power as is needed to protect any constituent that is attacked by a foreign or domestic entity."
His voice grew more intense.
"Even if it means leaving your nation devoid of Martial Artists in the process."
His words evoked a maelstrom of shock from the leaders of human civilization.
