Chapter 34 - The Calm Before Every Storm
Prince Wei's eyes widened in shock.
There, standing amidst the scorched earth, was Prince Ryu—BlackFire now in his hands, glowing with ominous, raw power.
"Impossible, It was other Ryu not you. A Sevpon can only have one Master," Prince Ryu said in wonder, staring at the weapon as if it had betrayed fate itself.
"Looks like you are shocked as well," Prince Ryu said, looking at BlackFire with a smirk, holding it confidently as energy surged through his body, crackling in black lightning around his arm.
"You made this easier for me now," Prince Wei said, gritting his teeth, and instantly sent a flood of monsters toward Prince Ryu.
With a sharp breath, Prince Ryu dashed into the horde. He slashed through the monsters without hesitation—BlackFire sliced cleanly through their limbs and torsos, leaving trails of dark fire that consumed their remains. His movements were fluid and deadly, ducking under claws, flipping over fangs, and striking with pinpoint precision. The glowing sword extended like a living entity, syncing with each of Prince Ryu's strikes.
Seeing Prince Ryu handle the monsters effortlessly, Prince Wei clenched his fists and moved forward to attack. But just as he stepped in, a sudden kick landed square on his face, knocking him off balance. Prince Wei staggered back, looking around in confusion.
Then, another kick smashed into his back, followed by a third, straight to his chest. He grunted and slid back in the dirt.
It was Jin—teleporting at rapid speed, reappearing and vanishing like a ghost, delivering hit after hit with blinding speed and fierce precision.
"We're not done yet," Jin said, his voice sharp as he appeared mid-air and delivered a spinning kick toward Prince Wei's jaw.
"I don't have time for you," Prince Wei growled and thrust his hand forward. A pack of monsters surged toward Jin, forcing him to teleport back to dodge their attacks.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Prince Wei dashed toward Prince Ryu and delivered a powerful flying kick. It sent Prince Ryu crashing into the ground, dust flying from the impact.
Gritting his teeth, Prince Ryu pushed himself up slowly and hurled a black-colored fireball at Prince Wei. The fireball scorched through the air, but Prince Wei teleported behind him in a flash and kicked him again. Prince Ryu hit the ground hard, and before he could react, Prince Wei snatched BlackFire from his hands.
"Now you are going to die..." he started to say—but before he could finish, Jin teleported behind him and kicked him in the ribs, sending him tumbling across the field.
BlackFire slipped from Prince Wei's grip and clattered onto the ground.
Prince Ryu scrambled forward to reach it, but a swarm of monsters leaped between him and the sword, clawing and biting to keep him back. Prince Wei rose, coughed, and sprinted forward, diving through the chaos and reclaiming BlackFire.
Jin teleported in again, aiming for another surprise attack, but this time Prince Wei spun around and dodged swiftly. At his command, more monsters lunged at Jin, keeping him locked in combat.
Seizing the moment, Prince Wei turned toward Prince Ryu, who was just rising to his feet. He dashed forward with BlackFire in hand, preparing for the final strike. With a snarl, he swung the blade down—but just before it landed, Prince Ryu unleashed a powerful electric shockwave that blasted every nearby monster into the air, crackling lightning ripping through the battlefield.
The force of the blast threw Prince Wei back as well, his body skidding along the earth.
But Prince Ryu's arms were bruised and torn, and blood dripped from a gash on his arm. The droplets splashed onto BlackFire lying on the ground.
Realizing what had just happened, Prince Ryu lunged forward to reclaim it—but just as his fingers touched the hilt, Prince Wei teleported to him and delivered a hard kick that launched him several meters away.
Prince Wei snatched the blade once more. As he gripped it, the drops of Prince Ryu's blood seeped into the weapon. BlackFire glowed fiercely in his hand... and then faded back to a steady, eerie aura. The change was clear—BlackFire had accepted a new Master.
Prince Wei's eyes widened with madness. He raised the blade high. "Finally..."
Then, with a dark grin, he summoned the other Sevpons. A powerful surge erupted from BlackFire, and the other five Sevpons flew toward it—one by one, they were absorbed into the blade. Each fusion caused a small shockwave, and the energy from the Sevpons pulsed into BlackFire, transforming it. The sword became longer, darker, more sinister—BlackFire had ascended.
Meanwhile, in the Dimension of Life...
It had been 30 minutes since Prince Ryu entered the portal. G Tony stood near the console, glancing at the countdown, anxiety brewing inside him. Finally, he couldn't bear the silence.
"I'm going down to the portal," G Tony muttered and headed toward the elevator.
"Don't worry, he'll be safe," Master Feng said calmly, stepping into his path and placing a firm hand on his shoulder.
"But..." G Tony started, but Master Feng interrupted.
"Just don't worry," he repeated with a quiet confidence in his voice.
Just then, an employee from Ex Agency rushed in, holding a laptop.
"Sir, we've got a situation," he said, voice tense.
"What is that?" Master Feng asked, eyes narrowing.
The employee flipped open the laptop, showing a global map filled with pulsing red readings.
"These readings are the same as what we saw during the Ex Agency training portal incident—but there are new readings too."
Master Feng leaned closer, his expression darkening. "These are portal readings. But what are the others?"
"We sent a drone to investigate. It captured footage of strange species emerging from the portal. They're spreading and attacking nearby areas."
Master Feng's gaze hardened. "Call everyone."
"Sir, half of them are already on another mission overseas."
"Then call the other half."
"Every one of them?" the employee asked for confirmation.
"Yes. And where is Master Rei?"
"He has already reached the area," the employee confirmed.
"Alright. I'm going there now. Tell the Agents' team to mobilize and arrive as soon as possible," Master Feng commanded.
"I'm coming too," G Tony added, stepping forward. "All I need is a weapon."
Master Feng gave him a small smirk. "Alright. Here, take this. You might like it." He handed him a sleek-looking sword.
"Whoa, I like the design—but what are these buttons?" G Tony asked, inspecting it.
He pressed one, and the sword shifted—its blade extending, the guard reshaping with a mechanical hiss.
"So, do you like it?" Master Feng asked.
"It's so cool! Can I have it?"
"You'll have to ask its owner. But for now, it's yours. We should go," Master Feng replied.
"Alright, let's get there," G Tony said with a nod.
As they exited the Ex Agency...
"Do you want a lift?" Master Feng asked.
"How are we going to get there? I don't see any horse around," G Tony looked around, confused.
"I don't travel with horses or vehicles," Master Feng said with a smirk, lifting off the ground using aerokinesis. "I travel through the sky."
"I don't want to walk either. Let's go!" G Tony grinned, and Master Feng made him float beside him, both soaring through the air.
They soon reached the area where Master Rei was fighting alone, flames dancing around him. He wielded his pyrokinesis, blasting monsters in rapid waves, his face focused but strained.
He was surrounded—but still standing strong.
Suddenly, a massive burst of wind scattered the monsters away like leaves. Master Feng and G Tony landed beside Master Rei.
"What took you so long?" Master Rei asked, without turning.
"I'm not late, you came here early," Master Feng replied, brushing dirt from his coat.
"Believe it or not, you are late," Master Rei countered.
"Sorry to interrupt, but we should focus on fighting monsters, not each other," G Tony said, gripping his new weapon tightly.
"I'll ask you later," Master Rei replied.
They engaged together—slicing, burning, blasting through waves of monsters.
Just then, a plane flew overhead. It dropped missiles that exploded mid-air, tearing into monster clusters. The plane disappeared and the sky darkened as six parachutes deployed.
The Ex' Agents team had arrived.
