Chapter 318: She’s Here, and Floating City On The Move
Neraxis’s figure darted through the forest, his sword slashing through multiple trees in an attempt to find the one behind the attack.
However, no matter how far he followed the sound, or how blatant he made his presence, no one showed themselves.
But I know they’re here... let’s—
Neraxis’s eyes widened as he turned to the left, where a distinct smell lingered in the air.
It was blood, but not a lot of it. Likely only a drop. But that was more than enough for Neraxis’s vampiric senses to catch a whiff of it.
And it just so happened that the blood was moving very rapidly, so without hesitation, Neraxis quickened his pace and began running straight toward it.
Despite its speed, Neraxis was still much faster, so after what seemed like 15 seconds, he finally caught up.
The moment he did, he saw the faint silhouette of someone he recognized very well.
"Delta...?" Neraxis muttered. "I guess even you were affected."
She flinched before slowly turning around and pulling down her hood.
"It is in your best interest to back away," Delta said matter-of-factly. "I can kill you where you stand, and you should know that by now."
"I’m sure you can. That’s why you attacked with a shabby dagger, right?" Neraxis remarked with a chuckle. "Look, I don’t mean for this to end badly, but can we just talk? I know where Amara is. Eris too."
Before she could speak up, Neraxis interjected. "I need your help with killing the Eternal Sin. He should be in this world somewhere."
Delta stared at him for a few moments in silence before shaking her head. "He’s dead. I made sure of that."
"You made sure wrong then. He’s very much alive. I’d know since I saw him earlier," Neraxis replied with a shrug. "I also know a lot about you and Amara, your inner relationships and stuff... what I’m trying to say is—"
"You’re not the Neraxis from our world, I know," Delta cut him off. "However, you’re a bit stronger than the one of our world, and obviously more dangerous... After all, the mana of Lagus is dormant within you."
"Sure, but I’m not the Eternal Sin, and I’m on track to getting rid of him," Neraxis said plainly. "So can we just team up? You know... kill the Eternal Sin together?"
"I don’t team up with people like you," Delta replied with a snort as she turned around. "I’m going to go toward the nearest obelisk and wait for Lagus to approach. That’s the best shot I have at killing him then, if what you say is the truth."
"And where exactly is this obelisk?" Neraxis asked. "Me and the others are planning on taking the floating city to another location. Are you sure you don’t want to come along?"
"I’m sure." Delta nodded. "I feel like he’s here... and if he were to come back to the normal world, he’d once again be unkillable."
She’s pretty accepting of my words, Neraxis thought with a sigh. "I just want you to know that I’ve not seen a single person in these worlds aside from Amara, Eris, and one other chick. You too now, but I highly doubt the Eternal Sin is roaming in this part of the world."
His words seemed as though they fell on deaf ears as Delta began slowly walking away.
"You’re not acting very smart today, Delta," Neraxis said, causing her to halt. "But I suppose that’s how you deal with everything, right? Wait for the opportunity to strike even when you know he’s probably not here. Do you think he’s hiding? Do you really think someone who was unleashed from their shackles would seriously quietly wait for you to leave?"
It was simply ridiculous to even think about. The Eternal Sin was dangerous, and he was also strong. It was basically impossible for him to remain quiet, especially since his powers should’ve been restored.
But it seemed like she didn’t want to listen as she once again resumed walking.
He stared at her departing figure for a few moments before letting out a sigh.
Here I thought we’d have a powerful ally. I guess not.
With that, Neraxis swiftly made his way back to the floating city.
Yet just as he was about to arrive near the cliff, he heard a loud thundering in the distance, and it just so happened to come from the same direction he was heading in.
Neraxis furrowed his brows and sped up his pace even further.
Soon, he arrived by the cliff. However, he noticed the floating city was already high in the sky.
Just as he thought he was fucked, he saw a giant rope drop down from the city, and for just a moment, he thought he was imagining things.
But as the rope dangled right in front of him, Neraxis couldn’t help but reach out and hold on tight.
Then, to his utter surprise, the surroundings warped as it felt like his body was twisting
However, since his HP was not going down, he thought he was fine—at least, for the most part.
Despite the warping of the surroundings and his blurry vision, he brought his body up the rope slowly.
Yet the resistance felt like a giant workout. Thankfully, some time down the line, he felt as though someone had begun to pull him up from the top, so Neraxis simply relaxed his muscles and let the person drag him up.
After several minutes, Neraxis reached the top and was immediately greeted with an interesting sight.
Eris was there, clutching onto the rope as Amara was off to the side, sipping a smoothie.
As for Elena? She was petting a dog with seemingly no care in the world.
Hah... Neraxis let out a laugh of disbelief as he climbed up and fell on his back, exhausted.
"Thanks..." Neraxis said. "I was almost left back there."
"Don’t thank us yet, I heard there’s a recoil when we finally arrive at our next destination," Elena said, turning to Neraxis with a grin. "But you’ll be fine. Probably. It’s just a little bit of violent vomiting. Nothing too special."
His brows twitched.
Well shit...
