Chapter 189 - 189 - Dealing with King Henselt 03.

[Chapter Size: 2300 Words.]

Third Person POV

Ard Carraigh.

...

...

"Who... who are you? I am the king!" The king looked confused.

"You know me more than you believe... but let me help you with that." Henselt remembered nothing about Madara, but he would soon help him recall.

As Madara unleashed his Mangekyō Sharingan, the king looked into his eyes, surprised, and quickly fell into the genjutsu. He began to recover all the memories that Madara had blocked from his mind. He saw, as if in a nightmare, the past weeks unfolding before his eyes.

Every night, when he slept, someone would appear and brutally beat him. The king begged for mercy, but the figure continued, blow after blow, until, in the end, his memory and even the sensation of pain were erased. However, now, with the blocks undone, all that agony returned to him. He felt again every strike received, every broken bone, every bruise.

"No... it can't be..." The king began to murmur, terrified, collapsing to the ground as he crawled away from Madara in desperation. Now he understood that it had not been some creature that had beaten him all those nights, but rather that boy with red eyes.

"Help me!" The king tried to run, standing up to flee, searching for help, but suddenly, a giant hand of blue energy grabbed him, making him moan in surprise and writhe in pain as he saw himself trapped by it.

He was being pulled toward Madara, unable to resist. The hand was a manifestation of Madara's Susanoo, while the king only saw the hand extending from Madara as he became enveloped in a skeletal shield.

Henselt's terror only grew upon seeing this.

"Do you know the problem with thinking you would find information about Madara Uchiha in Kaer Morhen?" Madara questioned, his voice cold and relentless.

The king could barely respond, his mind drowning in fear.

"It's that the information might be true." Henselt's eyes widened in horror.

"And that was your greatest mistake." Madara made the hand gripping him move closer slowly, while the king turned pale.

"I was in Kaer Morhen myself when you sent your men," he said. "I killed them all. The first time... and the second as well. After all, who else could have eliminated fifty knights in less than five minutes?"

The king felt his body tremble.

"But you... blinded by your arrogance, never realized the dangers you faced by challenging me. Isn't that right?" Madara asked.

"What... what do you want?" The king could barely speak. His courage and arrogance had vanished before this monster, along with everything he had suffered. "Are you going to kill me?"

Madara deactivated the manifestation of Susanoo, making the king collapse to the ground, dazed.

"That's a good question..." Madara said, walking slowly toward him.

Henselt crawled backward, trembling.

"You know... I could destroy you and even your entire kingdom." He tilted his head, observing the king as if evaluating a defenseless ant. "The question is: why shouldn't I do it?"

Henselt swallowed hard, feeling the cold sweat drip down his forehead.

"After all, you were the one who came after me. You were the one who threatened my acquaintances. And besides that..." Madara narrowed his eyes. "You are a treacherous king. You would have let Vesemir die even after he saved you from your supposed problem the night before."

The king opened his mouth, but nothing came out.

"Perhaps I should destroy you..." Madara continued, his tone indifferent. "...and your entire family. What do you think?"

"No! Please! Don't do this!" Henselt begged, desperate. "I... I didn't know you were behind everything! I... please, forgive me!"

Now there was no longer a proud and authoritarian king before Madara. Only a terrified man, pleading for his life.

Madara observed him in silence for a moment, his red eyes glowing in the dark.

"What will you guarantee me if I spare you?" He crossed his arms. "After all... I'm just a thread away from killing you right here."

Henselt could barely breathe.

But Madara continued. "And maybe... after taking your life as an example, I might just have a little conversation with your son... I'm sure he would understand a threat..."

"No! I won't mess with the witchers anymore! I won't send any more attacks on Kaer Morhen! Please, I won't do any of that! Don't kill me!"

The king remembered every moment of torture that Madara had inflicted upon him. In his memories of the genjutsu Madara had placed on him, he saw the giant blue Susanoo destroying the entire kingdom. The fear of death had overtaken his reasoning. Who was he, after all, to stand against a monster like this? A being with the power of a god among mortals.

"So, starting tomorrow, I want you to release Vesemir and uphold your agreement. You will not incriminate any witchers, and you will make up an excuse for the deaths of those who perished in Kaer Morhen. Say they were hunted down by a group of monsters... or bandits... whatever you want. But do not publicly compromise the integrity of the witchers anymore."

Madara looked at him without expression, his voice firm and cold.

The king just listened, not daring to interrupt him.

"That's why I put that monster in your palace. To show the entire kingdom that you faced a real problem and that the witchers helped you. This will preserve your public reputation."

Madara stepped forward, his Mangekyō Sharingan eyes glowing dangerously. "But now that this has been done and there's no way to deny that you received help from a witcher... I can deal with you personally."

The king held his breath.

"And I will, if necessary." The threat was clear.

Madara continued, not breaking eye contact.

"If you try anything against the witchers again... or even use someone as a hostage..." He paused briefly. "I will come after you."

A chill ran down the king's spine.

"You can be sure it won't take long for me to get here. Maybe I won't leave your entire family alive, depending on what you do. So you'd better stay silent about this."

"The same goes if you try to expose me. After all... I no longer need to act from the shadows."

The king swallowed hard.

"If I act publicly, you won't want to see what happens. As I have already shown you..."

The king remained silent, unsure of what to say. His hands trembled slightly, but he nodded quickly, afraid of angering the entity before him.

"Alright! I will! I'll do it!" He finally spoke, his voice filled with fear, trembling. "Just... spare me, my family, and my kingdom."

Madara watched the king for a moment and then added, "One more thing... I want you to cancel your plans to destroy the non-humans in the west."

The king's eyes widened.

"After all, that ideology is a problem... and, for now, I am residing in Kaedwen. I wouldn't like to hear news of exterminations just because people aren't human."

Madara narrowed his eyes. "Do we have an understanding?"

The king hesitated. He seemed hesitant to respond. "I... I can't stop those plans now... They're already being put into motion..."

Madara raised an eyebrow slightly. "Well... I expected as much, don't worry about it... After all, I can deal with them for you."

The king only nodded slowly, still cautious.

"Anyway... goodbye, Henselt."

Before the king could react, Madara activated another genjutsu with the Mangekyō Sharingan. Henselt's vision began to darken. He tried to resist, but his body gave in without any resistance before the power of those eyes.

With a final breath, he collapsed into unconsciousness.

When the king woke up, he was back in his bed. Dazed, he blinked a few times, feeling his body heavy. His wife looked at him with concern, quickly examining him for any injuries.

"Are you alright?" she asked, distressed.

He didn't respond immediately. He still remembered everything.

Every word.

Every threat.

Madara Uchiha.

He now knew exactly who had been beating him all those nights. And he also knew that the red-eyed man could take his life at any moment... even surrounded by guards.

His gaze shifted to his wife. Even some nobles and the court sorceress had entered the room upon hearing the king's commotion.

"My king, are you well? It seems the problem has been resolved," the sorceress said, observing him closely.

However, Henselt was still trapped in his own thoughts. The fear he had felt and the memory of all the nights he had been beaten, combined with the vision of Kaedwen's destruction, left him speechless.

Everyone around him noticed the king's strange behavior, but he quickly tried to hide his nervousness. After all, he didn't want to raise suspicions and, most importantly, he didn't want that monster to return.

"Let's... begin my day." He spoke, trying to appear calmer.

Some of his advisors raised their eyebrows, finding his attitude strange. Even so, they assumed the king was merely nervous, still traumatized by the past few days.

Regardless, Henselt returned to his audience chamber. His first action was to order Vesemir's release. The witcher appeared moments later, somewhat surprised by the king's sudden decision.

The change in Henselt's behavior did not go unnoticed. Some courtiers exchanged confused glances. Others noted that Vesemir was bandaged, indicating he had received treatment—something the king would not normally allow.

Henselt, however, seemed to ignore these details.

"You are here, witcher." He said, trying to keep his voice steady. His eyes, however, still scanned the corners of the room, searching for any sign of those red eyes that haunted him.

"Yes." Vesemir replied, crossing his arms. He knew Madara had said he would resolve the situation, and it seemed the plan had worked, as he could sense the king's fear while searching for something else in the audience chamber.

"You are pardoned of all charges. As are all witchers associated with you. Your fortress will be spared from any retaliation."

The witcher raised an eyebrow, surprised. He had expected resistance, but the king showed no intention of going back on his decision.

"As for the knights and soldiers who died..." Henselt continued. "We had an incident. After all, there was a rather large group of bandits in the middle of the road, wasn't there, witcher?" he suggested.

Vesemir understood the message. The king was following Madara's orders exactly.

"Yes." He responded, having no other choice.

"I hope you deal with the matter of these bandits on your roads, since many well-known soldiers of the kingdom were killed there, which is a shame," the king said, avoiding direct eye contact. "Anyway, you are free. Furthermore, I will arrange for an escort to accompany you near Kaer Morhen."

Vesemir immediately refused. "There's no need to worry about that, Your Majesty. I prefer to travel alone."

The witcher did not trust any of the knights present. He would rather take his chances alone than travel with an escort that could very well stab him in the back along the way.

"Well... suit yourself," the king replied, not insisting on the matter.

He took a deep breath, and for a moment, his gaze turned toward the large window of the hall.

"Either way, you may stay in the castle for one more night. You will leave tomorrow morning."

The decision seemed more like a way to ease his conscience than a favor to the witcher. Perhaps it was Henselt's way of trying to make amends... or just a means of ensuring that Madara would not return to demand payment.

"I also prefer to leave today." Vesemir said, not wanting to stay there any longer.

The king nodded.

"Very well. Give the witcher a thousand gold coins for his services and an official declaration stating that I no longer consider them enemies, but rather friends of the kingdom."

Upon hearing this, the scribe quickly began drafting the document. As soon as he finished, the king signed it and handed it to Vesemir, along with a sack containing a thousand gold coins taken from the royal treasury.

Vesemir looked at it, visibly surprised, but did not question it. He simply nodded and left the castle.

As he crossed the gates, one of the guards handed him a horse. He mounted it and departed without looking back.

In the city, people watched him with curiosity. Rumors had spread quickly—the witcher had defeated the monster that had terrorized the king. Even so, suspicion still lingered in the air, as previous rumors suggested that the king despised witchers, making this sudden change all the more surprising.

He ignored the stares and continued on his journey. As soon as he passed through the city gates, he quickened his pace northward, alone.

Meanwhile, Madara stood above the castle, watching everything. When he was sure Vesemir was safe, he leaped and landed silently on a balcony. The king was there, alone, isolated in a corner of the room.

"You did well."

Madara spoke, his Sharingan eyes glowing in the dark. The king turned to him immediately, fear once again overtaking his face.

"Now I will leave to take care of the matter in the West." Madara continued, his voice cold. "But remember: if any witcher is harmed, I will return here."

He leaned slightly forward, his red eyes locking onto the king.

"And you won't like the outcome one bit."

The next moment, he vanished, moving swiftly away from the castle.

As he advanced, Madara sealed the king's mind, ensuring that no mage could access his memories or uncover what had truly happened. Thus, he would continue operating in the shadows... and Henselt would never forget who he was dealing with.
