Chapter 256: Chapter 257 Charcoal
Beastmen didn’t usually have breakfast, but Su Tang couldn’t do without it. If she didn’t eat something in the morning, she’d have no energy for the rest of the afternoon.
So, while the other Beastmen were off working, Su Tang tossed some chestnuts into the bonfire pile.
After burning all night, the bonfire pile was reduced to a heap of black ashes and some unburnt red charwood.
Then, her eyes lit up.
She slapped her thigh vigorously and exclaimed excitely, "Ah! I remember now!"
Gaiyin: "???"
Turning around, Su Tang grabbed Gaiyin’s hand tightly. "Ayin, didn’t you say yesterday that we need a lot of wood for heating in the winter, and we might not have enough?"
Gaiyin nodded, "Yes, do you have a solution?"
With excitement on her face, Su Tang said, "Of course I do! Yesterday, I was focused on the coal mine, but then I suddenly remembered, we can make charcoal without coal!"

She dug out a piece of red-hot charcoal from the bonfire pile and said, "Look, this is charcoal."
Then, she used the twig to pick up the charcoal, walked to the stream, and submerged the entire piece of charcoal into the water. With a ’hiss’, a wisp of white smoke rose. Su Tang lifted the charcoal out of the water.
At this moment, the surface of the charcoal had turned completely black, and Su Tang said with a satisfied smile, "See, this is charcoal!"
"Charcoal has a wide range of uses. For us now, the most important use is for heating. Once wood is turned into charcoal, its burn time becomes longer, and its temperature increases too – it’s just perfect for us! Furthermore, in the future, if we discover iron ore or copper ore, we can even use it for smelting! Doesn’t that sound great?"
Gaiyin nodded, "Yes, whatever you come up with, it’s always great!"
Su Tang’s cheeks flushed.
She put the charcoal to one side, dug out the chestnuts that she had buried in the fire, and handed them to Gaiyin to peel.

"Are you going gathering?"
With a proud expression, Yuanyuan nodded, "Yes, and today, Uncle Lini has assigned Meng Ze to protect me~"
Su Tang raised her eyebrows, "Look at you, all pleased with yourself. My Ayin follows me around every day, did I boast about that?"
Yuanyuan: Can we continue our happy chat now?
