Especially after that hand started speaking, Aqi was so excited she felt like she could fly!
The moments she looked forward to every day were when Hai Qin and Wen Jue went hunting, and then her Axi would come to find her, chat with her and bring her fruit.
"Axi, where are you? Can I come find you? I want to see you."
"Aqi, I..."
His voice sounded a bit bitter, as if he was struggling with some unspoken words.
Aqi lowered her head disappointingly, "Can’t I? But I really want to see Axi..."
Axi didn’t directly answer Aqi’s question. Instead, he grabbed her little hand and said, "Isn’t this pretty good, too?"
Aqi pouted in grievance. She wanted to pull away from Axi’s grasp, but she didn’t have the strength.
Xi Ye could feel Aqi’s emotional shift, so he held onto Aqi’s hand tightly, "I...I don’t not want to see you, it’s just that I..."
Aqi stubbornly asked, "Just what? Are you ugly? No matter if you are ugly, I won’t dislike you. Or are you afraid that I’m ugly?"
The force with which Axi was holding Aqi’s hand increased. He sounded a bit desperate "No, no, Aqi is not ugly at all. You are the most beautiful female I have ever seen!"
His unconscious sweet talk made Aqi feel delighted, though she still asked, "Then what is the real reason?"
A sigh of helplessness, "I, ah..."

Outside the cave, Hai Qin saw his sister holding a mysterious hand while tenderly exchanging intimate words.
His eyes went wide with incredulity.
This was simply intolerable! She had never spoken like this to him!
Remembering when he had been hardest on her, when they had just arrived above ground, because he was upset at her for secretly following him, he had not shown her a good face. Yet she hadn’t been upset with him, even insisting she was protecting him. What a joke!
This hand that mystifyingly appeared must have ill intentions towards his sister otherwise why would it only seek her out when they were away?
Based on their interactions, this was definitely not a recent development! His sister’s recent reluctance to leave the cave must be because of this hand!
Thinking of this made Hai Qin extremely angry.
He dropped his head and prepared to charge into the cave.
Wen Jue, somewhat exasperated, stopped him saying quietly, "You won’t solve anything going in like this."
Hai Qin looked at his sister, then at Wen Jue, and finally clenched his teeth and asked fiercely, "Then what do I do?"
Wen Jue’s mouth turned up in a faint smile, "Do you want the owner of that hand to reveal himself?"
Hai Qin swung his fist, "Of course, I’ll bash him up good for daring to deceive my sister!"
There was a cunning look in Wen Jue’s eyes. He leaned closer to Hai Qin’s ear and whispered something.
Hai Qin’s eyes widened even more, and he nodded in a daze, "That could work?"
Wen Jue calmly suggested, "Why not try and find out?"
Hai Qin nodded, "Alright! Let us try. As long as I’m careful, I won’t hurt my sister!"
After which, he prepared himself, face serious, and began gathering his strength.
Aqi, unbeknownst to her, had her back to the entrance of the cave. She hadn’t even thought that Hai Qin and the others would return so suddenly and was caught completely off guard.
One moment, she was holding Axi’s hand, in her own little world, when suddenly, an immense force slammed into her. Completely perplexed, she let go of Axi’s hand and was flung to the ground.
However, it seemed like someone cushioned her fall, she didn’t feel any pain. Just as she let out a shriek, someone quickly covered her mouth.
