Chapter 554: Chapter 555: What Are You Feeling Guilty About?
In the faint, Keli could hear someone speaking in her room, but the voice was so low that he couldn’t make out what was being said clearly.
Keli frowned.
He walked briskly towards the room, eager to find out who was inside!
...
Inside, Ru Hua was inconsolably crying on the bed, with one side of her face swollen like a pig’s head. Hence, her crying, far from being a pleasant sight, was downright repulsive.
Luo Bu’s brow furrowed discretely. He said indifferently, "Enough, stop crying. It’s just us here. Who are you crying to?"
Ru Hua sobbed angrily, "You heartless man! He hit me and you didn’t even try to stop it..."
Luo Bu responded coldly, "How could I have stopped him? I’m not a Divine Brave Warrior. Besides, do you think I don’t know what you’re after? You were trying to catch the eyes of the White Tiger Clan leader in front of others, weren’t you?"
Ru Hua, feeling embarrassed and angry at Luo Bu hitting the nail on the head, was lost for words.
"Stop talking nonsense! The leader of the White Tiger Clan could even be my cub! Why on earth would I be interested in him?! I just wanted to get to know him, in the hopes that he could help Ali in the future. Don’t assume and mislead!"
Luo Bu was indifferent — he stared coldly at Ru Hua and said, "You know whether I’m making things up or not. Also, you’re being too loud. Be careful not to let others hear!"
Just as Luo Bu was finishing his sentence, Keli walked in, looking in proportion to the light, "What’s going on? What shouldn’t others hear?"
His sudden appearance took them both by surprise!
Luo Bu was the first to recover. He lowered his head and asked Keli, "Lord, what brings you here?"
Meanwhile, he was full of unease inside.
He was unsure what Keli had overheard of their conversation. Yet, they didn’t seem to have said anything incriminating.
Keli cast Luo Bu a sidelong glance and said, coldly, "Why are you here?"
Luo Bu made respectful gestures as he replied with caution, "My lord, after I brought Ru Hua here, she wouldn’t stop crying. I was worried that you might be annoyed when you came, so I gave her some advice."
Keli’s face was expressionless — impossible to read. His aloof demeanor unsettled Luo Bu even more.
Could Keli be suspicious of something?
No, that’s unlikely. After all, he hasn’t noticed anything for such a long time. He shouldn’t have discovered anything now.
Luo Bu’s heart pounded in apprehension and the hands he held up was faintly trembling.
After what seemed an eternity, Keli responded with a non-committal hum.
"In the future, if there’s nothing essential, avoid coming to her room. Someone might see you and get the wrong idea. And besides, I don’t want to kill my priest."
Keli’s insouciant remark fell like a knife on Luo Bu’s heart.
He realized it was a warning from Keli!
It was also his own fault for letting his guard down, getting distracted by Ru Hua’s crying and not noticing when Keli had come.
Luo Bu bowed respectfully, "I got it, lord. If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave now."
As he exited, a cold sweat broke on Luo Bu’s forehead under Keli’s penetrating gaze.
Even after leaving, he could feel his heart pounding non-stop, his legs kept trembling in fear!
He had to cope!
If Keli found out about him and Ru Hua, he would undoubtedly punish them!
Nonetheless, they had hidden it for so many years. He just had to endure a little longer. Then, they would succeed!
Inside the tree house—
Ru Hua had stopped crying, and her face was as pale as a sheet.
Keli looked at her indifferently, "What is making you so uneasy?"
