Chapter 585: Chapter 586: Anything to Say
Keli cast a sideways glance at Luo Bu. He didn’t say anything, shifting his gaze onto the shivering Yali who was cowering in the corner.
Keli’s gaze filled with mixed emotions, with an indescribable feeling lingering in his heart.
From the time he had cubs until now, it was a strange sort of cruel joke that the two cubs he loved most were not his own. What sins had he committed to deserve this?
Luo Bu ducked his head, feeling extremely anxious. He had no idea when the town master had arrived, or how much of what he was talking about had been heard.
The town master seemed to be acting normally. Could it be that he hadn’t heard anything?
At this thought, Luo Bu lifted his head slightly, pointing to the red marks on Yali’s neck that came from being strangled by Ru Hua. "Lord, I don’t know what kind of frenzy has overtaken Ru Hua. She came dashing in here and began to strangle young master. I had no choice but to knock Ru Hua out. Please punish your subordinate!"
Having said this, Luo Bu held his breath.
He could feel Keli’s gaze on him, and he froze, not daring to move an inch.
Who knows how long it took, but Keli finally responded, "Is that so?"
His tone was extremely indifferent, not letting on his emotions.
But the calmer he was, the more nervous Luo Bu became.
Then Keli spoke again, "Priest, do you have anything else you wish to tell me?"
A bead of sweat the size of a soybean rolled down Luo Bu’s forehead. His body was shaking, but he stubbornly refused to give in, trying to make a last-ditch effort to save himself.
So he forced a response. "No."
"Tsk..." Yadang, stretching lazily, walked from behind Keli. He sneered, "Why aren’t you being honest, Priest? You clearly stated that Yali was your cub. I and the town master heard that loud and clear."
Yadang stood next to Keli, his face spread into a malicious smile as he looked at Luo Bu.
Luo Bu’s legs gave way, and he fell to his knees.
All that was running through his head was: it’s over! Completely over!
The truth he had tried so hard to hide was revealed, and to think, it was all because of Yadang!
If he hadn’t been so soft-hearted back then, and if he had added more Heart Devouring Grass, maybe he could have killed Yadang and none of this would’ve happened.
The glance Luo Bu gave Yadang was fiercely vicious and treacherous, as if his gaze itself was poisoned.
Yadang slapped his chest for emphasis and yelled, "Oh, you scared me, Priest! The way you’re glaring at me, one might think I stole your mate... Oh, no wait—it was you who stole the town master’s mate and even bore a cub! Tsk, tsk, tsk. I am deeply ashamed and in awe of you!"
Luo Bu was left gasping for breath, lips trembling, unable to utter a word.
As for Keli, he was surprisingly calm, as if he was not the one being betrayed.
"Luo Bu, do you have anything else to say?" Keli stared at Luo Bu, showing no sadness or joy.
Luo Bu froze in place, he lowered his head in silence.
Keli continued, "I think I’ve been very good to you. Among our brothers, only we share a father. Even when you failed to awaken your superpower, I brought you to Upper Beast City and made you a priest, and you rank only below me. Why would you do this to me?"
Luo Bu’s fingers dug into the ground out of anxiety. His fingertips were white from exertion. He looked up, his eyes rimmed red, and roared softly.
"What do you know! Our father always favoured you since childhood, everything good was reserved for you. Why were you the one to awaken superpower? It was because you consumed an extremely precious Herbal Medicine! But that Herbal Medicine was obtained by me at the risk of my life!"
