Chapter 855: Chapter 860: The Fifth Trial 3

Although the butler had said that Godzilla wouldn’t appear during the daytime, it was still best to be cautious and vigilant in an unfamiliar and unknown environment.

Gaiyin and his party remained on guard, their faces stern as they shuttled between the different stone walls.

Though the blazing sun shone overhead, inside the maze, they couldn’t feel a hint of the heat. Instead, the constant anxiety and a faint sensation of coolness even brought a layer of cold sweat to their foreheads.

There were numerous forked passages and countless dead ends here; if not for the compass built into Su Tang’s wristwatch, they would have long lost their sense of direction.

When they had entered, the direction facing the entrance was due north, so Su Tang guessed that the exit should be in the exact south.

Without any clues, they could only proceed in the direction of their guess.

This round of testing had no set time limit, meaning you could stay inside as long as you wanted.

However, the amount of Satiety Pills they had exchanged was limited, averaging only enough for thirty days per person. Therefore, they had to find a way out of the maze within thirty days.

Not to mention that here, there lurked a guardian beast of the maze—Godzilla, who appeared at night and was, the butler had said, an invincible presence within the maze.

From the moment they had entered the maze, except for stopping once to rest and have a drink of water, Su Tang and her companions had been constantly exploring and navigating.

Even so, after journeying for one and a half hours, they had not found anything of note, but the upside was that they had encountered no danger during that period.

"Where exactly is this safe house? We’ve been walking for such a long time, and haven’t seen any building that looks like a cabin."

Su Tang’s heart couldn’t help but grow restless.

After all, they had been walking non-stop for three hours!

And they still hadn’t seen the edge of the maze.

No!

To be precise, they couldn’t even see the edge wall that they had seen when they first entered.

The compass is always accurate, so they should be moving in the right direction, theoretically.

But their current situation seemed as if they were lost.

Gaiyin gently patted Su Tang’s head in a soothing manner, "Don’t worry, this is only the first day; we still have plenty of time, let’s take it slow."

Su Tang hung her head somewhat powerlessly and responded listlessly.

Qiu Mo considerately conjured two small Water Balls and handed them to Su Tang’s lips, "Tangtang, have some water and take a rest."

After walking non-stop for three hours, concentrating intensely the whole time, Su Tang now felt her calves were both sore and weak as she finally relaxed.

Seeing this, Gaiyin frowned slightly.

He looked up and instructed Yadang, "Stay here with them; I’ll go scout ahead."

With that, Gaiyin transformed into a white tiger, flapped his wings, and flew to the top of the stone walls.

A little higher up was an invisible and intangible Barrier, seemingly designed to curtail the flying abilities of the Beastmen. However, as long as one didn’t fly too high, it was not a problem.

Yet not being able to reach a certain height meant that one couldn’t see the entire layout of the maze.

But there were advantages too; at least one wouldn’t be obstructed by the stone walls on the ground and wouldn’t need to go back and forth navigating detours.

Gaiyin only flew a short distance forward before he spotted a structure similar to a safe house, upon which he immediately returned.

The maze was full of uncertainties, and if he flew too far, he couldn’t guarantee he would be able to find his way back to the original position, especially since the maze was truly vast.
