Chapter 873: Chapter 878: The Fifth Trial 21
Day Eleven.
Gaiyin carried Su Tang as usual, weaving through the Maze, with Xi closely following behind.
After they passed through a narrow, cramped corridor, a vast clearing suddenly opened up before their eyes.
Gaiyin unconsciously stopped in his tracks.
This was a huge circular clearing, surrounded on all sides by high stone walls, with three exits just like the corridor they’d come from.
This was the first time they’d encountered such a place after so many days of travel.
Su Tang’s brows knitted together in thought as she patted Gaiyin’s arm.
"Ayin, go to the very center and fly up to see if there is any change. I think we may have come to the heart of the Maze."
Gaiyin nodded in agreement.
Then transforming into his white tiger form, he cautiously moved upwards step by step.
He quickly reached the height where the sparrow had been struck before, but he didn’t feel any obstruction and continued ascending.
As he climbed higher, the appearance of the Maze began to reveal itself.
Looking down, their current position was a perfect circle, with four narrow and cramped corridors radiating out in four different directions, dividing the Maze into four equal parts.
But no matter which direction one looked, the walls were uneven, varying in height and thickness.
Gaiyin’s excitement surged; he could already see the safety hut where they’d spent two nights ago.
The higher he flew, the farther he could see.
The indistinct areas seemed shrouded in a layer of gray mist, which gradually dissipated as the distance increased.
When he saw the safety hut that had sheltered them on the fifth night, a pressure came from above, making it impossible for him to move any higher.
Gaiyin tried to change his position to see if he could fly any higher.
But no matter which direction he flew, he was forced to descend as the upward pressure was so great that he couldn’t lift his wings.
With no choice, Gaiyin had to land.
He roughly described what he had seen from above.
Su Tang then took out a map and spread it out in front of the three of them, "Come over and look."
This map was the one the System had given them as a guide to the Wood Immortal Mansion.
They had thought that once they entered the test of the Wood Immortal Mansion, this map would become useless.
But unexpectedly, Su Tang discovered last night that the images on the map had changed into various lines.
At first, she wasn’t sure if this was the Maze’s terrain, because she saw a big circle on the map.
Recalling the routes they had taken over the past week, the Maze was all straight lines with no curves in its design, so Su Tang didn’t associate the content on the map with the Maze.
However, just now as they stood in this clearing, Su Tang suddenly remembered the circle on the map and hurriedly took it out.
The circle that was in the middle of the map last night had now shifted to the bottom.
"This is... a map?"
Xi’s eyes widened, and she couldn’t help but draw in a sharp breath.
But Su Tang was puzzled; the circle was clearly in the center of the map last night, so how did it move to the bottom?
Soon, however, Su Tang figured it out.
The map was too small to display much content, so it updated in real-time as they moved.
Su Tang breathed a satisfied sigh and mentally gave herself a pat on the back for her quick thinking!
