Chapter 993: Extra - Wen Ye Couple 9

She clenched her fist in the dark.

This superpower seemed quite handy, she didn’t know if she could use it, but she certainly wanted to find an opportunity to try.

Approaching the "water basin", she squatted down with some difficulty due to her bulging belly.

Seeing this, Wen Jue wanted to step forward and help, but Ye Qiao raised her hand to stop him, "It’s okay, I can do it on my own."

Wen Jue nodded and, retracting his hand, did not speak further.

Ye Qiao let out a quiet breath, but when she turned her gaze to the "water basin", she was stunned!

The reflection in the water showed a woman with greasy hair sticking together and even tied in knots in several places—was that her??

She didn’t know if it was psychological, but the sour smell in the air seemed to be getting worse.

Just now, she had been disgusted by how dirty the Tribe Beastmen were, so, it was actually herself who was truly filthy, right?

Ye Qiao couldn’t help but turn her head and spit a few times in disgust.

Wen Jue stepped forward two paces, frowning slightly, "Are you feeling unwell? I’ll take you to the Doctor."

Ye Qiao lifted her hand in alarm, "Don’t come any closer!"

Wen Jue obediently halted in his tracks, but the furrow between his brows deepened.

Ye Qiao really felt like crying but had no tears.

Imagine, when you are disdainful of others, and suddenly you find out that you are actually worse than them—that feeling....

Right now, Ye Qiao just wanted to desperately bang her head against a wall.

According to the original inhabitant’s memories, it was the beginning of the rainy season, and the temperature felt cool like early autumn.

The water in the river was actually somewhat chilly, and with Ye Qiao’s injuries and pregnancy,

it was impossible for her to wash her hair with cold water, unless she were mad.

With a somewhat feeble wave of her hand, she looked at Wen Jue with resignation, "Can you help me heat some water? I’m not feeling well, and I might get sick if I use cold water."

"Heat water?" Wen Jue’s golden eyes took on a hint of confusion.

In his understanding, there was no such thing as hot water.

Ye Qiao took a deep breath and explained, "I mean, you use stones to build a stand, and then place this... this pot on top of it, fill the bottom with fire, and the water will slowly become hot."

Wen Jue nodded thoughtfully, and then with a snap of his fingers, created a metal tripod on which the pot could rest, fitting just right.

"Like this?"

Ye Qiao: ....

With a wooden expression, she nodded, "Yes, then you place the pot full of water on the tripod, and build a fire underneath it."

"Alright, wait here for me." Wen Jue quickly set up the pot and then left the Cave to look for some kindling.

It didn’t take long for him to return, bringing both the flame and a large bundle of firewood.

The flames continuously licked the bottom of the metal pot, and whatever the metal of their superpower was, it conducted heat rather quickly. After just a couple of minutes, small bubbles started to form at the bottom of the pot.

Wen Jue adjusted the flames under the pot, glancing at Ye Qiao, "How did you know about hot water?"

Ye Qiao decided not to pretend anymore. She was very different from the people here; it was inevitable that someone would discover the truth sooner or later.

It might be better to be honest and come up with a plausible explanation rather than cause suspicion by being evasive.

You might not believe it if I tell you, but before I regained my senses, my consciousness was always on another ’Continent’. That was a place far superior to the Tribe, where people could eat their fill and dress warmly, and very few fell ill. On that continent, they drink hot water."

Wen Jue’s expression remained unchanged, and he appeared calm, but internally he was immensely shocked.
