Chapter 132: Chapter 132:Camping [3]

Considering the considerable gap between Fenrir and my ranks, I doubted my sword would be able to infiltrate its body with a single stab.

Feeling my exhaustion slowly wear away, not at the cost of my time particles, I slowly turned to my right, seeing Sage pointing her wand at me.

"Bring me back some fur, will you? I heard fur jackets are pretty expensive at stores."

As I slowly stood back, slowly gripping my blood-red blade, a sudden voice echoed from above once again.

"WATCH OUT!" 𝓷ℴ𝓿𝓅𝓊𝒷.𝓬𝓸𝓂

A couple of feet in front of me, the wolf’s head suddenly jerked forward at Levi’s approaching figure, aiming at his two legs.

Just before the wolf could close its mouth and chomp on Levi’s legs, he suddenly...flew forward?

Two grappling hooks lay on each side of Levi’s hips, and with the simple tap of a button, they surged forward, embedding themselves atop the wolf’s head.

The wires instantly pulled Levi forward into the air as he flew over Fenrir’s approaching head, and landed on the wolf’s stomach, retratcing his wires.

Without any hesitation, Levi plunged both of his light-blue swords into the ground, attempting to pierce through the wolf’s skin.

But...nothing happened.

Levi’s two sharp iron swords simply bounced off the wolf’s outer layer, like a bouncy ball hitting the ground.

Confused, he looked down at the Fenrir’s skin, and there, right at the point his swords had met Fenrir, there was a layer of some grey substance.

Hardening.

The ability to harden any part of your body at will, making it essentially immune to any attack.

Looking at Coal, who was had shifted directions and was charging at Fenir’s right front leg, Levi yelled.

"It can harden its skin!"

Ignoring Levi’s words, Coal raised his sword and slashed at the ankle bone, aiming to immobilize the wolf further.

As his sword rushed forward, a layer of grey appeared right above the wolf’s ankle, separating Fenrir’s body from the sword.

Seeing this, I picked up my pace to a sprint and passed by Charlotte, who was continually making the wolf drowsier, Melissa, and Chae.

However, only one of them noticed me.

Of course, it was the sharpshooter.

As Chae nocked an arrow with a light-blue tip, I activated elemental sight, seeing countless ice-blue particles surrounding the arrow’s head.

Her short orange hair swinging to the right, Chae suddenly paused, her jade-green pupils locked onto my figure.

"w-what!?"

Turning to the left to face the location where my previous clone had met Fenrir, Chae muttered.

"W-weren’t you over the-"

Placing a single finger over my sealed lips like a librarian, I whispered.

"Shhh."

Even though the wolf was currently focused on Levi and Coal, if any noise was made, its sound element could allow it to notice me.

Finally, as Coal’s sword met the grey layer protecting Fenrir’s ankle, the whole cliffside shook.

Sharpness was an interesting element.

If honed enough, would it allow the user to cut through the world itself?

Some scientists considered classifying it as a Force of Nature due the possibility that it could defy laws by cutting through reality itself.

But, ultimately, due to the fact that more than two people in history had wielded it, the element was ranked below.

Sharpness wasn’t the ability to cut through anything.

It was the ability to ignore any and all defense.

Only your physical body’s defenses, like skin and bone, could protect you from sharpness; nothing else.

Passing right through the grey layer, Coal’s sword sliced through Fenrir’s skin, ultimately losing its momentum upon hitting the hard ankle bone.

As the wolf’s eyes widened in pain, Coal attempted to push his sword further in, managing to fracture the ankle bone.

Yet, at that moment, Fenrir’s mouth widened, and with elemental sight, I could see tens... no hundreds of sound elemental particles leaving the wolf’s sound care.

They flooded upward through the throat, arriving at Fenrir’s mouth and coming together to form a massive grey sphere.

A loud voice immediately echoed from above me.

"LEVI AND COAL; COVER YOUR EARS AND RUN!"

"EVERYONE, RUN!"

Unfortunately, that didn’t fix the real problem.

The sound sphere was big, much bigger than the last, and much more powerful.

So, if someone were to face it head-on without any ear-covering, they would, without a doubt, suffer harsh consequences.

The person holding up the cliffside right now, preventing it from falling and destroying the base camp, was most likely already using both their hands.

How would they protect their ears from this sound attack?

They couldn’t.

If this attack got out, the cliffside would fall.

Extending my right arm, with the sword, as far to the right as possible, I steeled my mind.

If this attack got out, tens of students would be injured by the cliffside’s descent, and Fenrir would survive the fall, continuing to wreak havoc on the town of Reinhard and killing hundreds of innocents.

It was weird; I didn’t have to completely force myself to feel hopeless.

The old me wouldn’t have cared less...but now, it seemed like a sliver of me cared.

Although that sliver quickly vanished.

I was the demon prince.

No matter how many humans I saved or helped, I would always be their enemy.

My time in the human realm was simply a ticking time bomb, ready to be detonated as soon as my identity was discovered.

Thus, I redirected my goal from saving innocent humans to claiming the reward for killing Fenrir and clearing the dungeons.

With that, it was much easier for me to feel helpless.

I wanted the reward, but it would be impossible to claim it if Fenrir descended the mountain and ran around in the town.

Here, he was trapped, but at the base of the mountain, he had plenty of room to dodge and avoid attacks.

As time particles leaked out of my figure, disappearing into the air, the sphere within Fenrir’s mouth ceased expanding, allowing me to catch my breath for a moment.
