Chapter 591: Chapter 591: Immortal Physique_1 Chapter 591: Chapter 591: Immortal Physique_1 Seizing the moment when Shuten-doji was distracted by the dragon’s roar of the Energy Qinglong, Xu Fan flashed forward and in the next instant, he was in front of Shuten-doji.
“Die!”
Just as Shuten-doji regained his clarity, he was taken aback and let out an urgent, cold shout, sweeping his Demon-Slaying Blade out.
But as soon as his right hand was lifted, his mind was pierced by the dragon’s roar again.
Dazed, his movements slowed, and the force behind his blade dissipated.
It was like mustering a big sneeze, and just when about to sneeze, suddenly, there was nothing.
Xu Fan seized this opportunity, his right fist thundering towards Shuten-doji’s head, and mid-strike, turned the punch into a grab.
The Heavenly Fiend Great Demon appeared in his hand.
...
“Hoo…”
Accompanied by a lengthy whooshing sound, the Heavenly Fiend Great Demon struck toward the target.
By the time Shuten-doji regained clarity again, without a chance to look closely, an intense sense of crisis surged in his heart.
He had a bad feeling, but he only managed to twitch his eyelid before “bang”, his left brain was directly smashed, and his entire body, struck by the tremendous force, flew out sideways.
As he flew, a mist of blood sprayed out from the caved-in left side of his head, resembling a terrifying mess.
Soon, with a “boom”, Shuten-doji crashed into a mountain.
His entire body embedded within it, creating a human-shaped cavity.
For a moment, rocks exploded, and dust filled the air.
When the dust settled, the entrance was covered by a pile of broken rocks, but Shuten-doji was nowhere to be seen!
Xu Fan stood in the air, staring intently at the pile of rubble, his calm expression undistracted.
After all, the opponent was a Heavenly Venerable-level ancient demon of a thousand years.
If he died just like that, it wouldn’t seem quite right.
Seconds later, a loud explosion was heard, the pile of rubble burst apart, and a figure soared out of it into the sky.
However, Shuten-doji now was in a sorry state.
The left brain, mutilated and bloody, showed a ghastly scene within, and his once handsome face was covered in blood, with his clothes tattered beyond recognition, stained with a lot of blood and mud.
He probably looked no different than a character from a horror movie.
Yet, Shuten-doji twisted his neck, making a cracking sound.
The disastrous state of his left brain began to rapidly heal.
In a short while, it was mostly repaired.
Seeing this, Xu Fan’s eyes turned cold.
“Pah!”
Shuten-doji spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva and glared ferociously at Xu Fan, no longer caring for his elegant demeanor.
“Yan Country man, you are formidable indeed, having managed to infuriate me,” Shuten-doji said, facing Xu Fan across the void, his rage burning like wild flames.
He had never expected that he, a newly advanced Heavenly Venerable from Yan Country, would be pushed to such an extent by an ancient martial artist and suffer mortal wounds.
“You sure talk too much.”
Xu Fan said coldly and then shot toward Shuten-doji like a meteor, fast as thunder, fast as lightning, his figure almost uncatchable.
Shuten-doji was the strongest enemy he had encountered to date, a great demon of the Island Country about whose abilities he knew next to nothing.
Who knew what techniques the opponent might have, what trump cards they held?
He had to strike while the enemy was weak, giving no chance for reprieve.
“Perfect timing, die,” Shuten-doji roared angrily.
He saw that the Energy Qinglong had disappeared and presumed that the dragon’s roar that bewildered his mind would be difficult for the opponent to unleash again shortly.
With the distraction gone, he felt relieved at heart and was ready to fight Xu Fan head-on.
Clutching the Demon-Slaying Blade, he too charged forward.
For a time, the two of them engaged in close combat.
Tachi clashed with Heavy Sword, emitting a series of clanging sounds of metal striking metal, and the fight suddenly turned extremely fierce and dangerous.
Both parties moved extremely fast; it was impossible to see clearly what was happening before they had already exchanged blows dozens of times.
Overall, however, the situation was at a standstill, with neither side gaining the upper hand.
Yet Xu Fan was peerless in bravery, growing more ferocious as the battle waged on.
As he wielded the Heavy Sword with increasing skill, more and more sophisticated moves were executed, unpredictable and difficult to defend against.
His opponent, Shuten-doji, however, was growing increasingly alarmed.
He had never anticipated that his adversary would be so formidable; the idea of defeating or even killing Xu Fan at the onset was now forced to change.
Because of this exchange, Shuten-doji not only failed to gain any advantage but also became increasingly agitated, finding it more and more difficult to counter Xu Fan’s attacks.
For a moment, he grew anxious, and his mindset revealed flaws, which then impacted his moves.
Xu Fan, being extraordinarily perceptive, immediately noticed the change in Shuten-doji’s moves, which lacked the earlier focus and ruthlessness, and were less tricky and cunning.
Feeling elated, he immediately had his Divine Sense search for flaws in his opponent’s technique.
In the next instant, Xu Fan found an opening and immediately swept the Heavenly Fiend Great Demon sword blade horizontally at his rival’s armpit, while his left hand executed the Sword Control Finger, with golden energy surging around his fingertip.
Shuten-doji dared not withstand the attack of the Heavenly Fiend Great Demon, still haunted by the lesson learned when his left temple had been previously struck; he instantly invigorated his spirit and put all his strength into blocking the thunderous sweep of the Heavenly Fiend Great Demon.
“Hmph, just as I expected,” Xu Fan said when he saw his opponent take the bait.
Immediately, Xu Fan flipped his left wrist and released a golden mini-sword from his fingertip, shooting it toward Shuten-doji.
Half a breath later, the golden mini-sword was embedded in the opponent’s temple, and with a slight sound of flesh tearing, a blood hole appeared.
Seeing this, Xu Fan’s expression brightened—after all, the temple was a fatal spot.
But in the next instant, his joy turned to disbelief as he watched the blood hole quickly heal, and in just a few moments, it was as if nothing had happened, save for some remaining bloodstains.
Xu Fan couldn’t help but be shocked at the self-healing ability of this creature from Island Country—it was far too formidable.
For a moment, he felt at a loss, uncertain how to kill this damned creature.
Xu Fan’s mind raced, speculating—could it be this fellow was born with an extraordinary physique that endowed him with a strong ability to heal?
In the Cultivation World, although he had never seen such a physique, he had heard rumors of similar ones.
The master of that physique had a very prominent reputation, known as the Immortal Sovereign of Immortality.
Perhaps the Immortal Sovereign of Immortality’s power was not enough to rank among the top Immortal Venerables, but he was extremely difficult to kill because he had the Immortal Body, a very robust healing ability that allowed him to regenerate from even a drop of blood after being blown to smithereens, truly indestructible and immortal.
Although Shuten-doji did not have a power quite as monstrous as that of the Immortal Sovereign of Immortality, it was still remarkable.
He could easily recover from fatal wounds, which must mean he possessed a similar physique; such rapid healing suggested that within the same category of physiques, his self-healing ability could be ranked quite high.
“I didn’t expect to encounter someone with such an abnormal physique, tsk tsk!” Xu Fan said with a look of astonishment.
Such a physique seemed to be on par with Cui Dong’s Tai Xuan Jiuxiao Body, each with its own strengths.
“Since you know that, why continue to struggle?
You cannot kill me, whereas I only need one strike to end your life,” Shuten-doji looked at Xu Fan and confidently stated, “You probably don’t know, but a thousand years ago, I was decapitated and still didn’t die completely but revived instead.
I have the ability to be immortal; your attempts to kill me are doomed to become a joke.
Humph, I have lived for a millennium, eternally youthful and immortal.
I am the darling of this world, destined to live until the end of time, witnessing the changes of the world.
Whereas you, no matter how exceptionally talented, will eventually turn into a mound of yellow earth.”
His words carried an intense, mysterious self-confidence.
Despite Xu Fan being an unparalleled warrior, even more valiant than himself, this didn’t cause Shuten-doji much concern.
After all, he was one who cannot be killed, with a self-healing capacity rarely seen in all of history.
From the very beginning, this battle had him standing undefeated.
“Heh heh…
you are really full of confidence,” Xu Fan responded with a chuckle but was undaunted, instead, he mocked: “They say a cat has nine lives and loses one with each death.
I’m curious to see how many times you can survive my killing attempts.”
