For this special occasion, I decided that for tonight, we were going to go back to the Teppan grill instead of the normal dinner courses I would serve them.
Anyway, there's also a reason for it since cooking on a Teppan grill and doing tricks on it is kind of similar to flair bartending right?
I mean, it's not exactly the same but there's some similarities at least… So I thought why not see if I had improved in this or maybe I could use some things on either disciplines on each other?
Oh, and for the record, I already told the others that we were having Valiea and Ragbar over for dinner so they weren't surprised to see them there when they returned to the ship.
And no, we're not eating the couple for dinner.
Amber clapped her hands excitedly, "Ohhh! You're going to use the grill?! This is going to be a treat!!"
To be fair, it's not like I haven't used the grill for a long while but it's more like I would either use it when I felt like it or when there's some special event.
But yeah, like Amber had said, the girls treat me using the grill as a special event by itself.
Ok, let's see… I'm making enough to feed seven people… Hmm… Maybe since Ragbar is here, he'll eat more so I guess eight servings would be better? Eh… Just to be safe let's go with nine.
"Is there anything you two don't eat?" I asked while taking out several ingredients to prepare.
Valiea and Ragbar didn't answer me straight away and were just staring at me for some reason.
Before I could ask what's wrong though, Valieaa slowly lifted a finger to point at the stuff I just laid out, "Are those… Organic stuff?"
"Hmm? Yes? I did tell you I can cook right?"
"Wait… All of them?"
"Err… Not the sauces I guess? I made them by mixing together some synthfood to make them."
"You made the sauces… Right of course you did…"
Ragbar also mirrored his wife to point at the ingredients I brought out, "Those… Are really organic ingredients?"
I raised an eyebrow at him, "Yes? Why are you looking at it like that?"
"Well… This is the first time I've seen so many organic ingredients in one place… How much does all of that even cost?"
"Umm… Well… I think it was like… At least upwards of twenty or thirty thousand Credits?"
"More than that… Mistress…" Lea interjected.
Mara gave me a lazy smile, "Try upwards of fifty thousand Credits, Captain."
I paused before looking down at all the ingredients I had brought out.
There's beef, lamb, chicken, fish, rice, handmade noodles and a combination of vegetables which included potatoes and some greens.
Ok, yeah… There's a lot here… I can see this being worth at least fifty thousand Credits at the very least… Maybe even up to a hundred thousand to be honest…
I would say that since a number of the vegetables were grown on our own ship like the potatoes, it brought down the cost of this by a little bit.
Ragbar quickly waved his hands in front of him, "Wait, wait… Umm… We're good with just a really simple meal, Miss Tera! You don't need to use any of this! This is way too much! Also, we can eat anything so you don't need to worry!"
Valiea nodded, "We… We can't accept something like this… We didn't do anything to be worthy of this."
I was just about to assure them that this was something that I wanted to do and they didn't need to hold back, Amber beat me to it.
She laughed out loud, "Ahahaha! Come on now, you two. You're giving yourselves too much credit! Tera isn't doing this for you guys, she's doing this for us and all of you just so happen to be here! So at this stage, you're supposed to just say 'thank you' and accept it!"
Well, obviously that wasn't the truth since I was certainly doing this for them but Amber was obviously just saying that to get rid of their guilt of being treated to something like this.
A little too forceful in my opinion but hey, if it works…
Sure enough, the couple seemed relieved slightly and settled back down without any more protests.
Alright, time to see what I can do!
I've already established that there's most likely some kind of perk that I have that helps me with the flair mixing when I'm tossing bottles and twirling them like I don't care, so I'm going to try and see if I can push that here as well.
First thing first, turn on the grill and oil up the surface with the oil bottle, using it to draw a picture of a heart with an arrow shooting through it.
I then took out the lighter and lit the oil on fire, letting it burst into flames.
The girls were letting out sounds of 'oohs' before they were interrupted by Valiea and Ragbar screaming out in surprise.
Ah… I forgot about that… The girls also reacted almost the same way when I lit the grill on fire the first time.
Thankfully, the girls helped me out by grabbing on to them before they could fall out of their chairs as they had already expected something like that to happen, apparently.
"It's part of the performance, guys," Amber assured them.
I nodded, "Don't you have drinks that you sometimes set on fire as well? This is the same."
Yeah, my comment managed to calm them down as they settled back down into their seats.
I continued my routine by trying out if I could just start juggling and flipping my tools around while placing the food I had prepared on the grill.
And… What do you know? I managed to do it.
Like the first thing I did was to place the vegetables down on the grill while juggling two spatulas with one hand and I didn't even fumble or anything.
It's honestly kind of scary if you ask me.
I flipped the sauce bottles like I was handling cocktail shakers and spun them around my hands before drizzling them over the meats that I placed on the grill, almost like I was pouring out a cocktail.
I also had the idea of trying the onion volcano again but this time with a little twist.
Instead of layering them carefully, I lined them up in a row with the widest piece on the left and getting progressively smaller towards the right.
So under normal circumstances, I would be picking each one up and placing them one by one on top of each other with my spatulas but this time, I slid the spatula under the second largest onion ring and tossed it into the air instead.
I stood back and watched as the piece of onion flew up into the air and flipped several times before finally landing… Back on the grill… And then bouncing it off and rolling to the edge…
Huh… I thought for sure it might actually somehow land on the largest one…
I chuckled at the small failure and reached over to pick it up before trying it another way.
Instead of just tossing it up randomly, I rested the onion piece on the edge of my spatula and brought it up to hover right above the smaller one.
I then flicked my wrist and the onion did a spin before landing on top of the bigger one perfectly.
Hmm… So this one worked… Although it could just be a fluke… So I went ahead to try it on all the rest of the pieces and they all landed perfectly to create a small onion mountain.
To be honest, this could simply just be a skill thing since I have been cooking for a while now and that might not mean anything… But I guess if I try them out more and it ends up being a hundred percent success rate then I'll know it has something to do with the perk, whatever it may be.
I went ahead to pour oil into the onion mountain and lit it up to create the fire which the girls cheered enthusiastically over, even though we have someone who could literally control fire sitting right over there.
Wait… Amber isn't helping me cheat by using her Psionics to make the onion fall perfectly, is she?
No, by the transfixed look on her face, I think she's too busy ogling at how my boobs were jiggling in front of me rather than the onions themselves.
For the rest of the cooking, I decided to just make the food normally since I didn't really want to go too overboard and I feel it's a little disrespectful to be tossing food randomly anyway.
I separated all the portions into seven equal parts before serving them to everyone.
I would be eating them directly as I made the food so I simply pushed my share to the side of the grill where I could munch on it even while I'm cooking the rest.
Right then, the couple picked up the first bite of food and placed it into their mouths as all of us watched their reactions.
Both Valiea and Ragbar froze up… And then their eyes rolled to the back of their heads and they fainted.
What the fuck?
