Chapter 233: Chapters 217-223 Who Moved My Chicken_4
Wang Biao glanced at Shen Yunfang and then at the man with glasses, and whispered, "This woman seems to have some backing, don’t mess around."
"Don’t worry, I’m just going to say a few words," the man with glasses nodded.
Wang Biao looked at the two uneasily, but thinking that the man with glasses was after all his comrade-in-arms, he pretended not to see Shen Yunfang’s gaze and strode out.
Seeing the man leave, Shen Yunfang understood she had to be alone with this mentally twisted man, so she stopped worrying and relaxed, sitting down again.
She didn’t know what Director Zhao had heard just now, but it seemed that, in any case, it was a good thing for her, perhaps there was some news from Li Hongjun or Xing Zhonghua.
While she was contemplating with her head down, the door was forcefully kicked open. A burly figure strode in.
Because of the backlight, the two inside the room couldn’t see who had come in, but Shen Yunfang recognized the newcomer by his voice.
"You’ve got some nerve," said Xing Zhonghua as he walked in and saw the two people in the room, misunderstanding that the man with glasses was giving Shen Yunfang a hard time, and immediately kicked out in anger.
The man with glasses, still not having reacted, was kicked by Xing Zhonghua into the corner of the wall.
"Come, follow me. I want to see today who’s so audacious," he bellowed.
Shen Yunfang didn’t speak and stood up to follow him out. Before she left the room, she turned back to look at the man with glasses and saw him nod at her with difficulty from the corner; only then did she turn and walk out of the interrogation room. 𝔫𝖔𝔳𝔭𝔲𝔟.𝖈𝔬𝔪
"Ah, Xing Team Leader, what wind brings you here today? Please, come up to my office and have a seat," Director Zhao rushed over, nodding and bowing to Xing Zhonghua.
"Hmph, no need. I dare not. I came here today to ask Deputy Director Zhao, if I hadn’t come to watch over the situation, I’m afraid you might resort to forced confessions," Xing Zhonghua shouted loudly.
Deputy Director Zhao glanced at Shen Yunfang, who was behind Xing Zhonghua, and internally groaned. He thought she was just an ordinary woman, at most married to some guy from backwoods, not realizing she had such influence. Of course, Deputy Director Zhao understood this.
Just then, someone had put down the phone on the other side, sighing that the morning wasn’t chaotic enough already.
"Misunderstanding, definitely a misunderstanding. We just invited Comrade Shen Yunfang to ask a few questions. I was about to have someone send Comrade Shen Yunfang back safely when you arrived. It’s a misunderstanding; there must be some misunderstanding," Deputy Director Zhao said with a smile plastered across his face as he explained to Xing Zhonghua.
Xing Zhonghua looked skeptically at the man in front of him and then turned to look at Shen Yunfang.
Shen Yunfang knew at a glance that Xing Zhonghua didn’t want to completely offend Deputy Director Zhao and that his purpose was probably just to get her out. He didn’t want to delve into other matters, or he wouldn’t be looking at her.
Shen Yunfang understood Xing Zhonghua well; the man had gone to the trouble of coming here for her, and she was extremely grateful. She nodded at Xing Zhonghua, going along with the situation.
Xing Zhonghua’s expression finally relaxed, and upon seeing an opportunity, Deputy Director Zhao eagerly invited Xing Team Leader to his office once again.
This time, Xing Zhonghua reluctantly gave him face and went to the office with him. As for Shen Yunfang, she had other business to attend to; she needed to collect the chickens that were caught with her yesterday.
An employee led her there, taking her directly to the canteen. Since the chickens had been brought back yesterday, they were ordered to be kept in the back of the canteen.
However, when Shen Yunfang arrived, she only saw a pile of chickens that were already dead, piled up waiting to be plucked.
"Hey, what are you doing here? This is the kitchen. If you have something, go to the front. This area is off-limits," a chubby-faced man carrying a steaming pot of hot water approached, seeing Shen Yunfang standing in front of the pile of dead chickens.
Shen Yunfang glanced up at him, then turned to look at the staff member, and without saying a word, lowered her head to look at her dead chickens.
The employee was quite embarrassed, guessing that no one had expected the chickens captured yesterday to be slaughtered early this morning by the canteen staff.
"What are you doing? Who allowed you to slaughter these chickens? Don’t you know these chickens belong to this lady? Now you slaughtered them without asking, how are we supposed to return them to her?" the employee asked indignantly.
The chubby-faced man shrugged his head, "That’s not my business; I just listen to our leader. If our leader tells me to slaughter them, then I slaughter them. If you have issues, talk to our leader," he looked at Shen Yunfang.
"What’s going on here? Why the commotion?" a woman’s voice arose from behind the group.
Everyone turned to look; it was a pretty young woman dressed in a Lenin suit, only her belly was protruding, which looked somewhat awkward.
"Group Leader, you finally arrived. They’re saying these chickens were meant to be taken away. Didn’t you tell me to slaughter them all? What do we do now?"
"Yunfang, you... what are you doing here?" The newcomer looked completely shocked upon seeing Shen Yunfang.
"Shen Yingxue, I didn’t expect to see you working here," Shen Yunfang said, equally surprised, but then she quickly realized that Deputy Director Zhao must be her father-in-law.
"Hehe, yes, I work here now," Shen Yingxue forced a bit of a smile.
"Deputy Director Zhao is your father-in-law, right?" Shen Yunfang asked.
"Ah? Oh, yes, Deputy Director Zhao is my father-in-law. I’ve only been working here for a few days," Shen Yingxue eased up, a smile forming on her face.
Shen Yunfang nodded and then pointed at the pile of dead chickens, "These chickens are mine."
"Ah?" Shen Yingxue gasped in surprise, covering her mouth.
That was too fake, Shen Yunfang internally gave her a failing grade.
She was now certain that Shen Yingxue knew she was coming and most likely even encouraged it.
Shen Yingxue’s facial expression stiffened; she struggled to keep smiling, but it wasn’t very successful. "Yunfang, look at this mess. This morning, I heard someone had been arrested and these chickens were all evidence of crime. The canteen staff reported to me that there was no place to keep the chickens, nothing to feed them, which is why they were all slaughtered. I didn’t expect them to be yours. If I had known earlier, I definitely wouldn’t have let them do this."
