Chapter 363: Chapter 353 Are You Going Blind?

"Shen Yunfang?"

Shen Yunfang had just paid and settled at the table when she heard someone calling her from behind. She turned around in surprise and seemed to recognize the person.

Looking at the man approaching her, Shen Yunfang racked her brain. What was the name of that literary club president again? Dai, Dai something Fei?

"What a coincidence, you’re out eating by yourself," said the casually approaching Dai something Fei, as if he hadn’t noticed the two kids beside her.

Oh right, his name was Dai Zhifei.

"Heh, I’m actually here with my son and daughter. If you’re shortsighted, you should get glasses soon. If you don’t take it seriously, you might go blind later," Shen Yunfang kindly suggested. In fact, she wanted to say he was already blind.

Only then did Dai Zhifei lower his head to see the two little rascals staring at him, "Heh, these are your kids? They’re quite beautiful."

"Thank you," Shen Yunfang politely expressed her gratitude.

"Ahem, we came out to eat today to celebrate a bit," Dai Zhifei paused there, waiting for Shen Yunfang to ask him so he could reply, but after a while, she showed no reaction. Dai Zhifei consoled himself in his heart, ’She’s from the countryside, unworldly, understandable.’ "I won first place in the speech competition at our school. It’s not really something to show off, but they insisted on treating me, really."

Shen Yunfang rolled her eyes secretly, as if to say, ’You’re already flaunting yourself quite a bit there.’

"Shen Yunfang, what a coincidence today. Why don’t you join us as well?" Dai Zhifei invited her, hope glinting in his eyes.

Since the start of the school term, Dai Zhifei had set his sights on Shen Yunfang. After all, when a tender sprout pops up among a bunch of potatoes, everyone takes a look, right?

However, Shen Yunfang’s impression of him wasn’t too favorable. Plus, concerning his intentions, which he hadn’t articulated but she vaguely understood through a woman’s intuition, she was even less willing to get involved with someone like him. At school, she had been avoiding these people, always in a hurry. How could she possibly dine with him outside of school?

"No need, I have already ordered, and the food is coming soon. Also, my children aren’t very comfortable eating with strangers. I hope you enjoy your meal," Shen Yunfang declined politely.

Dai Zhifei, not giving up, persuaded her a few more times, but Shen Yunfang was resolutely against going. In the end, Dai Zhifei had to leave, turning back three steps at a time, to return to his table.

Shen Yunfang caught a glimpse out of the corner of her eye: after Dai Zhifei returned to his table, a girl seemed to coquettishly say something to him, and within moments all his attention was drawn to her. Then the girl cast a defiant glance in her direction.

Shen Yunfang turned her face away at an angle, humming in her heart, ’Truly ridiculous.’

After waiting for more than ten minutes, the waiter brought the braised pork with vermicelli noodles.

The girl who had been glaring at Shen Yunfang sneaked a peek at the dishes on her side, then continued to chat and laugh with the people at her table as if nothing had happened. She had wanted to ridicule that woman, but given the stir-fried potato shreds on her own table, she thought, ’Next time.’

"Come on, Pangpang, here’s your meat." Shen Yunfang used chopsticks to serve her son a small bowl of meat and vermicelli, then picked a few strands of vermicelli for her daughter. She took out Manman’s special spoon from her bag, cut the long vermicelli into small segments, and let Manman scoop them up to eat by herself.

After that, the cold dishes and egg custard were served, followed by two large plates of dumplings.

The people at Dai Zhifei’s table watched Shen Yunfang order so many dishes by herself, and a small-statured man said with a hint of sourness, "This is really wasteful, one person ordering an entire table..."

An adjacent man quickly nudged him with his elbow, "Don’t talk nonsense, we don’t do that anymore."

The woman, sensing the atmosphere turning a bit somber, quickly said with a smile, "Oh, let’s focus on our meal, we needn’t bother with those we don’t know. Some people have outdated mindsets, and those can’t be changed in an instant."

"Right, Xiaofeng’s right. Come on, where were we just now?"

Shen Yunfang was busy attending to the children’s meal and didn’t pay attention to the other table; thus, she was unaware they were discussing her alleged wastefulness.

When Shen Yunfang had finished seeing to the kids and had just eaten two dumplings, she saw Li Hongjun returning with several people following him, including William’s family and two police officers wearing Dagaimao hats.

Shen Yunfang quickly stood up and asked, "What’s the matter?"

"It’s nothing." Li Hongjun signaled with his eyes for Shen Yunfang to stay calm and then explained, "After I took Mr. William to the nearest police station, there was no one there who could communicate with Mr. William, making it difficult to find the proper person to take care of him as quickly as possible. I saw that William was hungry, so I brought them all here. We are the hosts here, after all; we can’t let our guests go hungry. These two officers are here to ensure the safety of our international friends."

Shen Yunfang politely nodded to the group, then asked everyone to be seated. Although the police officers had come for the international guests’ protection, it certainly wouldn’t be right for them to just watch us eat, so it was decided that everyone would sit together and have a simple meal.

After exchanging pleasantries, the two officers also took their seats. Shen Yunfang used English to communicate with William’s family; after all, as foreigners, it was important to inquire about any dietary restrictions or preferences they might have.

The two police officers were secretly impressed to hear Shen Yunfang speaking English so fluently, and their view of Li Hongjun and his spouse changed.

Since Li Hongjun’s group had entered, the people at Dai Zhifei’s table had been paying close attention to them, watching them approach Shen Yunfang, some secretly pleased, thinking to themselves, "Serve you right for showing off; now the police have come for you."

But instead of what they expected, these people sat down to eat with Shen Yunfang. What surprised them even more was that Shen Yunfang now seemed to be speaking "bird language." How could she speak? How could she speak it so fluently? As they watched Dai Zhifei’s heart being stolen away once again, someone almost crushed their teeth in envy.

After confirming that William’s family had no restrictions and could eat anything, Shen Yunfang had Li Hongjun go and order. 𝚗o𝚟pub.𝚌𝚘𝚖

Li Hongjun also ordered a half jin of baijiu, and once the dishes arrived, he began toasting with the two officers.

As for William’s family, with the language barrier, Shen Yunfang had to entertain them herself.

"What’s your name?" Pangpang, having finished eating, watched his father clinking glasses for a while and turned to see the quiet young man next to him just eating his meal, so the hospitable Pangpang took the initiative to strike up a conversation.

Adam was surprised to hear the child next to him asking his name in English. He had been in China for nearly half a month and had never met a child who could speak English. The translators only spoke to his father and had never paid him any attention.

"You speak English?" After asking, Adam realized how impolite his question was and quickly added, "No, no, no, my name is Adam. May I ask what your name is?"

Pangpang didn’t reply but tilted his head to look at the young man and then quietly leaned back towards his mother’s side, whispering, "Mom, was that young man just asking for my name?"

"Yes, darling."
