Chapter 468: Chapter 458 Someone Reported
"How did those two end up, were they released?" Shen Yunfang was most concerned about this.
"No, they both pulled out knives, getting out isn’t that easy," Mu Huazhen said. Although it wasn’t a period of harsh crackdown, once a weapon was involved, it became a criminal case. Even though no one was injured, a detention of ten days to half a month was definitely expected, and as for whether they would end up in jail, that was hard to say.
"That’s good, we can run our business in peace now," Shen Yunfang nodded with relief. She had really feared that those two would be released so quickly and then come looking for trouble again.
You know, when it comes to business, it’s all about creating wealth in harmony. If you provoke such people, who come to stir up trouble every day, you might as well not continue the business, because you won’t make any money, just finding yourself in fights. Besides, if customers see there’s danger on your side, they won’t come closer, so who are you going to sell to?
So, no matter when, businesspeople without any significant backing, when facing such individuals, most of them will choose to keep the peace and fork out money to avoid disaster.
Shen Yunfang felt she could only deal with those two hooligans because she had a backer in this area. She did not plan on doing business here long-term; just get through this year, and she wouldn’t have to worry about the two seeking retaliation.
"What are you laughing at, silly goose?" Mu Huazhen turned her head and saw her husband sitting there, holding a wine glass and grinning foolishly, an infuriating sight.
"Hehehe, you don’t know, someone from our street came to report you all today," Ma Liguo said mysteriously.
"I think you really are a fool, aren’t you? Someone reported us and you still laugh about it. How stupid can you be?" Mu Huazhen cursed him without any good humor.
"Hehe, wife, that’s what you don’t understand. Someone reporting us means our business is doing well, making money, and making others jealous. Don’t you think?" Ma Liguo analyzed for his wife.
Upon hearing this, Mu Huazhen thought about it carefully; he was right. But somehow, his reasoning seemed twisted to her. She had never heard of anyone being happy about getting reported before.
"Guess who went to report us?" Ma Liguo continued cheerfully.
"More than one person?" Mu Huazhen exclaimed in surprise.
"Yep, two," Ma Liguo answered promptly this time.
"Men or women?" Shen Yunfang asked.
"Women, both of them were women," Ma Liguo didn’t keep them in suspense.
"Women? We haven’t offended anyone. Who could be so malicious?" Mu Huazhen wondered, puzzled.
Shen Yunfang thought for a moment, went over her own network of relationships, and then said, "One is Shen Yunxiu, and the other is that Aunt Sun from across my door, right?"
Ma Liguo gave Shen Yunfang a thumbs up, admiring her guess; she had got it right.
"Did Yunfang really guess it right?" Mu Huazhen was somewhat incredulous. She was even better than their police at solving cases. Turning to Shen Yunfang, she asked, "How did you know it was them?"
Shen Yunfang chuckled, "I’ve lived here for quite a long time without falling out with anyone. The only small conflicts I can think of are with Shen Yunxiu and the family across from ours. Just now, Brother Ma said it was two women, so I guess it must be them."
Shen Yunfang also gave an overview of her grudge with Shen Yunxiu, and even talked about how last year her uncle and his wife came over trying to borrow her house.
After listening, Mu Huazhen commented, "Your cousin really has no shame at all. From what I’ve seen of her husband’s character, she won’t end up with anything good in the future."
Shen Yunfang nodded in agreement. Yunxiu’s eyes were currently blinded by dog shit, and the day she came to her senses would be the day she regretted everything. Shen Yunfang didn’t even need to take revenge; just waiting to see the outcome would be very satisfying.
"So what’s the issue with the family across from you? Why did they go and report you?" Ma Liguo was genuinely curious. He knew this Aunt Sun; he was the one who had shown Shen Yunfang the house when she was buying it.
So he really couldn’t understand what Aunt Sun was thinking. She knew perfectly well about his relationship with Shen Yunfang, and yet she still went to the neighborhood committee and reported her. If you are really that fearless, then be straightforward about it. Go there, say your piece, and leave. But that old lady was really something else. She walked into the office, saw Ma Liguo, turned around, and tried to run off, leaving everyone in the office baffled, not knowing what had gotten into the old lady. After a while, she came back, not giving up, found a young person, and started to report that Shen Yunfang was doing business outside, engaging in capitalism, and was a speculator. While saying this, she kept looking at Ma Liguo, leaving him not knowing whether to cry or to laugh.
"Well, there was a bit of a conflict." Shen Yunfang recounted the events that occurred when her elder brother-in-law’s family visited, with particular emphasis on the pile of shit in front of Aunt Sun’s door. That enmity had started from that pile of shit.
Well, it seemed inappropriate to talk about such things at the dinner table, and Shen Yunfang only realized this after she finished speaking.
Nobody present minded, however, and they all burst into laughter at Sandan’s heroic deed.
Pangpang couldn’t understand what the adults were laughing at, so he leaned in close to his mother and quietly asked, "Mom, did Sandan do the right thing? Isn’t that dirty?" He was quite conflicted, wanting to be like Sandan in the future, driving away the bullies who wanted to mess with their family, but wasn’t dealing with poop unhygienic? Didn’t Mom dislike kids who weren’t clean?
Hearing her son’s question, Shen Yunfang quickly pulled him onto her lap and instructed, "Son, Sandan’s intentions were good, but such an approach can only be used by Sandan. In the future, we must not do this, okay? We can completely think of other solutions." She was genuinely worried about her son getting led astray. If he were to drop his trousers and poop every time someone acted up in front of him, she would be utterly dismayed as a mother.
"Mm, I also think that pooping is too filthy." Pangpang frowned disdainfully and wrinkled his little nose.
"Right, we are civilized people and must resolve problems in a civilized way. If we can use our words, we don’t use our hands, and if we must use our hands, we don’t use tools. Understand?" Shen Yunfang affectionately stroked her son’s little head.
Pangpang nodded, taking the lesson to heart, "Mmm, Mom, I got it." To him, his mother meant that if someone dared to provoke him, he should insult them first, and if insults didn’t make them cry, then he should physically fight, and if that didn’t subdue them, then it was time to use a tool.
Everyone else at the table fell silent. Is this how you’re supposed to teach a child? Any good child could turn out wrong with this kind of education.
After chatting and laughing for a while, everyone returned to the main topic.
Ma Liguo mentioned that the investigation found the report groundless. In other words, it was a false accusation, and the two reporters had no case. Moreover, Ma Liguo detained them and gave them a political lesson.
Shen Yunfang then went over the day’s accounts. Aside from the ten yuan in compensation, they made nine yuan and sixty cents today, an improvement from the first day.
She believed that the coming days would be even better, one day after another.
