Chapter 555: Chapter 545 I Kneel Before You
Shen Yunfang walked casually into the office and found an empty sofa to sit down on.
Teacher Zhu followed her and sat down beside her. He was responsible for the student he had brought in, and he was determined to ensure she wasn’t harmed. He had heard that these people were Shen Yunfang’s in-laws, who had, in front of many of her classmates, hit her the day they came.
"Yunfang, I didn’t expect we would meet again," Principal Wang still had the leisure to chat with Shen Yunfang.
Shen Yunfang smiled, "Indeed, Principal Wang, I didn’t expect to have the honor of visiting your office again."
"Haha, you have a very good attitude, and no matter what happens in the future, you should maintain it," Principal Wang laughed along as well.
"I’ll try my best." Shen Yunfang also wished she could, but with relatives like these, keeping an optimistic attitude was so difficult.
"Yunfang, Yunfang, Mom was wrong. Hit me twice to blow off steam, and don’t be angry with Mom anymore," Qiu Shuping, receiving a signal from her son, quickly squeezed out a sorrowful face and lowered her head to apologize to her daughter-in-law.
Shen Yunfang was surprised; she felt she knew her mother-in-law quite well. This person, especially toward her daughter-in-law and specifically her, had never bent over, been soft, or spoken a gentle word before, so why was she suddenly lowering her head today? It must be a grand scheme, that was the only thing Shen Yunfang could think of.
Seeing that Shen Yunfang remained silent, Zheng’s mother grew impatient and jumped in, "Second sister-in-law, your mother-in-law has already apologized so sincerely. You should have let go of any anger by now, shouldn’t you? Or do you really want your mother-in-law to kneel down and apologize to you?" As she spoke, she even poked Qiu Shuping in front of her.
Shen Yunfang just watched as Qiu Shuping lowered her head while grinding her teeth and glaring. In the end, Qiu Shuping even slipped under the sofa. Shen Yunfang wanted to reach out to help her, but it was too late; Qiu Shuping knelt down in front of so many people.
Shen Yunfang was furious. This old lady was just making things difficult for her. By kneeling, she was trying to completely ruin her reputation. Moreover, at her age, kneeling to her, wasn’t that shortening her own life?
Luckily, there was a coffee table by the side of the sofa, which made it look like Qiu Shuping was not kneeling directly to Shen Yunfang but rather seemed to be facing between Shen Yunfang and Zhu Zhengqi.
Shen Yunfang also moved her body at the first opportunity to avoid Qiu Shuping’s kneel.
"Second sister-in-law, murdering doesn’t go beyond the first blow. Now that Mom has knelt down to you, please stop dwelling on the misunderstanding from a few days ago, I beg you," Li Hongqi pleaded bitterly from behind.
"Wuwu, I kneel to you, I kowtow to you, please spare me. I’m not your mother-in-law, you can be my mother-in-law, okay? Please, for my son Hongjun’s sake, spare me," Qiu Shuping, as if that wasn’t enough, tried to lean forward and kowtow a few times to Shen Yunfang, but the coffee table was in the way, and she couldn’t complete the gesture. 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙥𝙪𝙗.𝒄𝙤𝙢
"Old lady, what are you doing? If you have something to say, you should stand up and speak properly. If you continue like this, I’ll have to take the student away," Zhu Zhengqi said coldly, without moving, as he looked at Qiu Shuping kneeling before him.
Qiu Shuping climbed up from the ground and turned to look at her son, waiting for his next instruction, as she had no idea what to do.
"Second sister-in-law, say something, please. Mom has already knelt down to you, forgive her," Li Hongqi didn’t look at Zhu Zhengqi but instead directly sought an answer from Shen Yunfang. In his mind, only if the second sister-in-law said she wasn’t angry could they move forward with the discussion.
"Don’t put it that way; I never made anyone kneel before me," Shen Yunfang refused to acknowledge such an incident, and even though she had already stepped aside, when Qiu Shuping insisted on kneeling, there was nothing she could do about it, "Besides, there’s nothing to forgive or not forgive. I said we were even after I kicked you that time."
"It’s good that you think that way, sister-in-law. Our mother and we just wanted to come to see you and the children. It’s been so many days, and because you were angry, we couldn’t even get a glimpse of you, nor could we find your house door," Li Hongqi made it very clear that they were there to see the children. Relatives like Shen Yunfang should have been hosting them well at home.
"That won’t be necessary. My mother-in-law and I do not get along, and I’ve certainly caused her plenty of anger since I got married. Even if I can’t show her the filial piety she deserves, I shouldn’t go out of my way to add to her troubles. It’s better to keep a distance so no one gets angry," Shen Yunfang spoke the truth. Time and again, there were only verbal fights, and this time it had escalated. She didn’t think future encounters would be any better, so it was better not to see each other at all.
"It’s not like that, sister-in-law. My mother loves children and wants to see Pangpang and..." Li Hongqi trailed off, realizing he had hit a snag. He knew his second brother had another daughter afterwards, but he honestly could not remember her name.
He looked at his own mother with his eyes, hoping she would take over the conversation since, as his uncle, not knowing his niece’s name while claiming to want to see the children seemed inappropriate.
However, he had overestimated Qiu Shuping; she didn’t know what the second son’s child was called either, as she had never seen the child.
If she didn’t know, then the remaining members of the Zheng family certainly didn’t.
Shen Yunfang laughed; such grandmother and uncle were indeed rare.
"No need to look anymore. If you really want to see the children, then wait until Li Hongjun comes back and he can take the children to your house for a visit," Shen Yunfang directly blocked Li Hongqi’s excuse. Trying to use seeing the children as a pretext to enter her home was out of the question.
"Whether it’s about seeing the children or not, our mother is here now, and as a daughter-in-law, you should at least take our mother in to stay at your house, shouldn’t you? Right now, you’re neglecting our mother like this, how are you going to explain it to my second brother when he comes back? Can you really live with your conscience?" Zheng Guilin suddenly spoke up.
Shen Yunfang knew everyone in the room was looking at her, but she acted as if she hadn’t heard what this sister-in-law said and directly addressed Li Hongqi: "We all know what sort of people we are, so I think we can skip the pretenses. Just speak frankly about why you’ve come to the Capital this time."
Li Hongqi hesitated upon seeing Shen Yunfang’s expression, wondering if it wasn’t the right moment to ask for money.
Zheng Guilin, seemingly provoked, became even more assertive than Li Hongqi, standing up and shouting at Shen Yunfang: "Why did we come? It’s all because of you. You made me lose my child, and I’m going to fight you for that." She then attempted to rush toward Shen Yunfang, ready for a physical confrontation.
Although Zheng’s mother also resented Shen Yunfang, she was clearheaded and aware that her daughter was not a match for her sister-in-law in terms of strength, so as she saw her daughter charging forward, she quickly grabbed her to pull her back.
"Mom, let go of me! I want to fight her to bring my child’s life back," Zheng Guilin cried out, distraught and wailing.
Shen Yunfang frowned at her sudden frenzied behavior. Although she was puzzled by these incomprehensible accusations, she would not admit to such things.
"Did you take the wrong medication?" she thought to herself.
