Chapter 670: Chapter 660 Again Entering the Police Station

Shen Yunfang hadn’t been happy for long when she received a phone call from a police station in Dongcheng District that afternoon, asking her to come pick someone up.
Shen Yunfang was somewhat bewildered. The person on the phone was vague and didn’t explain why, only that it was their farm’s worker, and just told her to come pick someone up before hanging up.
Ah, it left her in an awkward position, not knowing whether to go up or down, such a headache.
Since she had frequent interactions with Old Ma and his wife, she had some understanding of how things worked within the system, so she promptly called Li Hongjun to inform him about the situation and asked him to find someone to handle it.
Now was not the time to show off her abilities; if she couldn’t handle it, she couldn’t handle it. It wasn’t shameful to ask her own husband for help. Besides, what was the point of having a husband if not to be brought out at critical moments, heh heh!
Li Hongjun was very calm. After finding out which police station it was, he went to find someone to take care of it. In no time, he called his wife and told her to go directly to the police station to pick up the person.
Only then did Shen Yunfang feel relieved. She didn’t even bother with her bicycle, instead opting to take the bus straight to the police station.
By the time she arrived at the police station, it was already past three in the afternoon. After identifying herself, she was led by a female officer to an office inside.
She was received by a middle-aged male police officer, who was very kind to her, possibly because of the connections her husband had made. He explained the situation to her in detail.
The incident was quite simple, really. The buyer and seller had a disagreement about whether it was permissible to break off leaves from a cabbage, which escalated into an argument and then a fight.
The dispute originated between a woman in her sixties who was buying and Qian Yu’s wife Zhao Bingbing, who was selling. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the older woman had thrown the first punch, but after being taken to the police station, she claimed to have been severely injured and demanded hospital treatment, as well as medical expenses and compensation from Zhao Bingbing’s side.
Zhao Bingbing, of course, disagreed, leading to another war of words at the police station. After failing to mediate the dispute, the police decided to summon Shen Yunfang, the boss, for resolution.
As for the other woman, there was no need to find anyone to intervene, since all three of her sons were involved in the fight and had been detained.
After hearing the story, Shen Yunfang politely asked, "May I see my three employees?"
"Of course, I’ll have someone take you to them." It wasn’t a major or special case, so the officers didn’t take it very seriously, or else they wouldn’t have called Shen Yunfang in.
Shen Yunfang then saw the three individuals detained in the interrogation room – Qian Yu, his wife Zhao Bingbing, and Liu Zhiyuan’s wife He Danping.
"Sister-in-law," both Qian Yu and He Danping called out excitedly when they saw Shen Yunfang enter.
"Hmm, are you all okay?" asked Shen Yunfang as she looked at the three of them.
From what she could see, Qian Yu’s face had not been spared; his mouth was bruised a mix of blues and purples, and one eye was swollen shut into a narrow slit. The two women, Zhao Bingbing and He Danping, looked better. Although their hair was a bit disheveled--probably from being pulled during the fight--their clothes were fine. Zhao Bingbing’s face was marked with several scratches.
Shen Yunfang frowned as she looked them over.
"We’re fine," Qian Yu said with evident embarrassment.
"You call this fine?" Shen Yunfang lifted her chin, implying that if his face looking like a palette of bruises was considering fine, what would be considered as being hurt.
"My injury is on my face, it looks serious, but it’s really nothing. I got those three bastards where they have more flesh on their bodies, it doesn’t show on the surface, but it’s enough for them to suffer." Qian Yu had learned how to play dirty from Li Hongjun during their time in the army. The ways he fought were quite sneaky.
Shen Yunfang glared at him, then turned to the other two women, "How about you? What happened? Why did it get to a fight?" She had heard the official version, but she still wanted to hear what her own people had to say.
"It’s nothing, sister-in-law. It was just a case of words getting out of hand..." He Danping glanced slightly at Zhao Bingbing next to her; the whole mess had been stirred up by her, and now she was playing the innocent.
"I want to know the whole process, in detail." Shen Yunfang sat down seriously, waiting for them to explain.
Seeing that Zhao Bingbing had no intention of speaking, He Danping had no choice but to step forward and tell the story.
That morning, the three of them were assigned to a group, so they drove to Dongcheng District on a tractor, deciding to skip the market in hopes of selling more by targeting a residential area, cruising around in it.
Everything was fine that morning, and they sold quite a bit, but then came an old lady around noon, asking about cabbages.
Zhao Bingbing told her the price, but the old lady neither agreed to buy nor walked away. Instead, she started picking leaves off the cabbage on the truck.
And she wasn’t just picking a few outer leaves; by the time she was done, the cabbage was reduced to a third of its size.
He Danping, seeing the old lady wasting food like that, spoke up to stop her, but the old lady wouldn’t listen, cursing away and continuing to grab and tear at the cabbages.
Zhao Bingbing, known for her temper, got angry at the unreasonable old lady, and with a tone that was less than kind, snatched the cabbage from the old lady’s hands, complaining about how they could sell it if she kept ruining it.
The old lady was quite domineering and instantly grabbed the cabbage back from Zhao Bingbing, shouting that she wanted to buy it and would do so if she could clean it up nicely herself.
Then everyone understood her game: she would only buy the cabbage if she could rid it of leaves until it matched the amount in her hands. But that wouldn’t do at all; selling like that would mean they’d make a third less money. Besides, no one ever bought cabbages that way. If they let the old lady keep going, other customers would follow suit, and then how would they sell their cabbages?
So the group all tried to stop her and made it clear that they couldn’t sell her the cabbage if she carried on like this.
The old lady wouldn’t have any of it and kept on picking at the cabbages. Zhao Bingbing, unable to contain her anger at the old woman’s shamelessness, snatched the cabbage from her and gave her a piece of her mind.
One thing led to another, and before long, the bossy old lady and Zhao Bingbing were in a full-blown argument, hurling all manner of ugly words at each other. He Danping tried to intervene but couldn’t find an opening.
No one knows who was so keen on adding fuel to the fire, but someone ran back and called out all three of the old lady’s sons. Seeing her sons arriving, the old lady’s confidence surged; she hurled the cabbage in her hand right at Zhao Bingbing’s face. That wasn’t all; she grabbed Zhao Bingbing’s clothes, dragged her off the tractor, and right there, it turned into a full-scale brawl until the police from the station arrived.
The old lady seemed quite familiar with such incidents and, upon seeing the officers arrive, promptly threw herself to the ground, whining about being too hurt to get up and insisting on going to the hospital.
At that moment, Zhao Bingbing was indeed pinning down and beating up the old woman.
Caught in the act, everyone was hauled off to the police station.
At the station, the old lady and her three badly beaten sons were still making a fuss, demanding to be taken to the hospital and wanting Qian Yu and the other rural folks to go bankrupt and rot in jail.
