Chapter 673: Chapter 663 Education Failure
"Qian Yu said he would send his wife back to her hometown to look after the kids tomorrow, and he’ll just stay here to make money," Zhang Chunwang mentioned.
This meant Zhao Bingbing would leave, but Qian Yu would stay.
Shen Yunfang understood and nodded in agreement—she was quite pleased with this outcome. The crying and fussing from upstairs were probably because Zhao Bingbing didn’t want to go home and was making a scene with Qian Yu.
Indeed, the ruckus upstairs hadn’t subsided at this time.
After crying loudly, Zhao Bingbing felt extremely frustrated. Why was it that just after being praised, she was suddenly being fired? How could they do something so two-faced? Others might fear Shen Yunfang, but Zhao Bingbing didn’t. She was determined to confront her face to face and ask why she was the one getting fired when other daughters-in-law were allowed to work there. What had she done wrong? Was it just because she spoke a few truths? That wasn’t allowed either?
So she wiped the tears and snot from her face, stood up, and ran outside.
Seeing this wasn’t good, Qian Yu quickly darted out the door and dragged her back in. "Where are you off to?" he asked.
"I’m going to find Shen Yunfang. I really want to ask her why everyone else’s wife can work here, but she has to fire me? What’s so wrong with me? All I did was speak the truth, and that’s not allowed or what?" Zhao Bingbing demanded, with eyes full of resentment.
Qian Yu was truly at his wit’s end. His wife just wouldn’t listen to a thing and acted solely based on what she thought. He’d never realized before just how hard communication could be.
"Can you just calm down a bit, can you? I’ve told you, it’s not your sister-in-law who wanted to fire you, it’s me who wants you to go home," he said.
"Don’t lie to me. Why send me home when we’ve been working fine here?" Zhao Bingbing replied, not believing him and again trying to free herself from his grasp to head outside.
"Just chill out, will you? Do you really want me to quit my job too and go back home to farm just to satisfy you?" Qian Yu shouted in exasperation.
"And you say you’ve been working well! How can you have the nerve to say that? When you first got here, didn’t I ask you to watch your mouth, not to blabber about everything, not to go around offending people for me? All you needed to do was work quietly and we could save more money in a few years to renovate our house and afford our kids’ school fees. But what about you? You’ve pretty much fought with every sister and brother-in-law around here. Do you know how many apologies I’ve had to make for you, how much face I’ve lost following you around, huh?" he exclaimed.
"That wasn’t my fault. Why is it always blamed on me?" Zhao Bingbing yelled back, dissatisfied.
"If not you, then who? Were those nonsensical things you said forced upon you by others? Isn’t it all because you can’t hold your tongue and keep stabbing people where it hurts? I’ve told you so many times and you just don’t listen."
"Besides, having a dispute with one or two people might mean there are issues on both sides, but if you’re in conflict with everyone, can you still claim everyone else is at fault and you’re the only one who’s right?"
"Enough, just drop it. If you still want me to keep some dignity here and make some money, then quiet down and pack your things. You’d better hurry home to look after our kids tomorrow."
Both husband and wife turned their heads away from each other, faces filled with anger.
Seeing his wife had stopped causing a scene, Qian Yu then straightened his clothes and headed outside.
"Where are you going?" Still angry, Zhao Bingbing quickly asked, her anger temporarily forgotten.
"What are you off to do? To wipe your ass for you," she said, and then she was gone.
"Humph, I’m about to leave, what’s the point of wiping now. Ugh, it’s infuriating," Zhao Bingbing started ranting to herself in the room.
Meanwhile, Shen Yunfang was packing up her things in the office, getting ready to go home, when she saw Qian Yu at the door.
"Qian Yu, what’s up?" The tone of Shen Yunfang’s greeting was still as warm as ever.
Upon hearing this, Qian Yu breathed a sigh of relief, afraid that his sister-in-law would be angry.
"Sister-in-law, I came to apologize. It’s all my fault for not disciplining her properly. I’m sorry, Sister-in-law," Qian Yu said sincerely.
Shen Yunfang felt his sincerity and wanted to share a few heartfelt words with him. Impressed by his good temperament and nature, she replied, "Qian Yu, you don’t need to apologize to me. I’m not mad at you. You should know what kind of person I am after having spent half a year together. I’m definitely not one of those who cause trouble out of nothing."
"I’m well aware of your character, Sister-in-law, and I really can’t help but say a few words to you. Marriage isn’t just about shutting the door and being able to have children. As the head of the family, you have a responsibility to steer the home in the right direction. I won’t talk about anything else, just your wife’s temperament and that unlikable mouth of hers - if you had paid attention and guided her properly from the start of your marriage, things definitely wouldn’t be like this now. As a husband, you can’t just live comfortably by yourself and then ignore everything else, pretending that out of sight means out of mind. How will your family get along with others, mingle with relatives? When your children grow up, which family would want their daughter to marry into your home?"
"There’s a saying, ’Marrying a wife who is idle leads to the husband’s woes.’ Just think about it," she advised.
After saying this, Shen Yunfang left, leaving Qian Yu lost in thought as she headed home.
What she didn’t know was that her words had led to unintended consequences, and things didn’t follow the original script.
The next day, when Shen Yunfang arrived, Zhang Chunwang came to tell her that Qian Yu had decided not to send his wife back to her hometown. He said he wanted to heed his sister-in-law’s advice and take it upon himself to discipline his wife, determined to set her straight.
Shen Yunfang was speechless. Was it something she said, or was it that his comprehension was flawed? She had not meant that at all, and now he was acting in her name, leaving her wondering how to broach the subject of sending someone away.
Feeling somewhat stifled, she went home and told Li Hongjun about the whole affair, resulting in him laughing uproariously, teasing her that despite being a teacher and trying to educate someone earnestly, she had inadvertently led them astray. He joked that as a teacher, nobody could compete with her in that regard.
As December came, snow began to fall in Z Province, with temperatures dropping to around seven or eight degrees below zero. Those who had been out in the market now returned to the vegetable greenhouses, working hard to make the most of the final push, as the harvest was soon to arrive.
After a month of retail and group buying, most of the farm’s agricultural products from the past six months had been sold.
There was no need to mention the soybean oil. If she hadn’t distributed five kilos to each staff member in advance, even her own workers wouldn’t have seen a trace of it.
The remaining soybeans, except for the portion Shen Yunfang took claiming it was for seeding, were all sold. The same went for the sorghum and cornmeal: each staff member received a hundred kilos, and the rest was all sold out.
Now, the only things left in the warehouse were several thousand kilos of autumn vegetables, tens of thousands of kilos of soybean residue from making oil, and the husks sifted from grinding corn.
With the freeze setting in, any unfinished work on the farm also had to be halted. Zhang Bin led his construction crew out of the countryside. As he was leaving, he bought the remaining few thousand kilos of autumn vegetables from the warehouse at a discounted price, although it was puzzling what a countryman like him would want with all those vegetables.
