Chapter 751: 741
When Shen Yunfang cycled to the farm, Zhang Chunwang was already waiting for her in the office.
"Sister-in-law, you’ve arrived," Zhang Chunwang said, hastily standing up as he saw his sister-in-law enter the room.
Shen Yunfang noticed right away, "Oh, this guy must have not slept all night," she thought, noticing his listless spirit and the red blood vessels in his eyes.
"What happened, you didn’t sleep last night?"
"Heh, I really didn’t sleep much, I was quite worried." Zhang Chunwang didn’t hide the truth. It was the first time he had encountered such a situation; the vegetables were still piled up in the greenhouse. His heart was weighed down—how could he sleep? Well, except for the boss.
"You really, what’s the use of worrying after things have gone wrong? It’s more important to think of a solution and solve the problem," Shen Yunfang walked to her desk, placed her bag down, and sat down.
Zhang Chunwang hurriedly poured a cup of water for his sister-in-law and handed it over, "You’re right, that’s what I’ve been thinking too, but as soon as I close my eyes, all I can think about is this mess, and I can’t fall asleep no matter how I try." He knew he shouldn’t be like this, but it was his first time facing such a situation, and he just couldn’t control himself.
"You, you’re still lacking experience," Shen Yunfang took a sip from her cup, "Did you arrange everything we talked about yesterday? Are the sales staff already out there?"
"Last night I found Wang Anhua, and I told her about today’s matters. Early this morning, she went out with some people. They said they were going to check with acquaintances about the situation and also make rounds at other businesses, to ask if anyone else was backing out, so we know what to expect," Zhang Chunwang reported on the current situation.
"I see, then they probably won’t be back this morning. We can’t just sit around and rely solely on their efforts. I remember when the last batch of vegetables came in, there were a few vegetable wholesalers interested in sourcing from us, didn’t we keep their phone numbers? You should find those numbers and contact them quickly. Don’t say much, just let them know that our batch of vegetables before the new year is available for sale. If they want to buy, they should come early, or there won’t be any left," Shen Yunfang instructed.
Upon hearing his sister-in-law’s words, Zhang Chunwang’s eyes lit up; how could he have forgotten this detail, "Alright, I’m going to call and ask right away."
After saying this, he immediately took a small notebook from his pocket and began to search through it, quickly finding what he was looking for.
Shen Yunfang stood up from behind her desk and invited Zhang Chunwang to sit where she was; calling from her position was more comfortable.
"Remember, the attitude must be right," Shen Yunfang directed.
"Of course, sister-in-law, don’t worry," Zhang Chunwang said as he sat in the chair, coughed twice, and then picked up the phone and dialed.
There were eleven phone numbers in total, and Zhang Chunwang spent over an hour making calls while Shen Yunfang sat on the sofa, listening.
"It seems to be going quite well." Once Zhang Chunwang indicated he had finished the calls, Shen Yunfang finally spoke.
"Yeah, they all said they would come over as soon as possible," Zhang Chunwang was visibly pleased. Having people come for wholesale was much less troublesome than sending staff out to the markets.
"You need to stay calm. It’s not a big deal. Our vegetables are here; if they back out, it’s their loss. These vegetables can definitely be sold—we don’t need to worry. However, this incident has served as a reminder to us: no matter who we do business with in the future, we must sign a contract," Shen Yunfang said.
"Alright, I’ll let Wang Anhua know when she gets back," Zhang Chunwang nodded.
"Also, since this issue has arisen, it’s the responsibility of the sales department. Their work wasn’t thorough or careful enough, and they almost caused irreparable damage to the farm. This must be penalized. This year’s year-end bonus for all the sales department staff will be cut in half." Shen Yunfang primarily wanted to teach them a lesson; they needed to learn from their mistakes. This was the first time such a thing had happened, and she could help remedy it, but if such incidents kept recurring, as the boss, should she just abandon everything else and clean up after them? "And you, as the general manager, haven’t managed your subordinates properly; you have to take joint responsibility for that."
Shen Yunfang was right in the middle of scolding someone when the door to the office was suddenly flung open.
"Auntie! I heard those bastards cheated us, is that true? I’m going to find them and fight it out," Goudan burst in and angrily shouted upon seeing his aunt.
Zhang Chunwang secretly wiped the sweat from his forehead, feeling lucky to have dodged a bullet.
Shen Yunfang frowned upon seeing the young man before her, "What’s going on with you? Why aren’t you working properly at this hour? Who are you planning to fight with, and you even run here to brawl? You’ve got some nerve."
"I heard someone cheated us, and I just can’t swallow this insult. Auntie, just tell me who it is, and I’ll go settle the score," Goudan insisted with his neck stubbornly outstretched, acting as if he’d done no wrong.
Shen Yunfang grew even more frustrated seeing him like that. Here she was, busy with her own business, and he came running over without knowing anything, just causing a commotion.
"Calm down! Who told you I’ve been cheated?" This matter had only happened yesterday; news sure traveled fast—it was already known to the people in the breeding department first thing in the morning.
"It was Brother Wang and some others chatting about it; that’s what I overheard," Goudan noticed that his aunt did not seem too pleased, so his bluster started to subside.
"So that’s how it is," said Yunfang as she slapped him on the spot. "I pay you so you can gossip with others during work, is that it?"
A child of her own family, when it’s time to discipline, discipline must be given.
Goudan didn’t care about that smack from his aunt at all—it didn’t hurt one bit (silly child, that’s because your auntie didn’t use her strength).
"I wasn’t gossiping with anyone, I just overheard them," Goudan continued to defend himself.
"That’s even worse! So, you just heard a bit of gossip and threw your work aside to come here? Do you know why I asked you to work here? Did I ask you to listen to rumors? Did I ask you to come here shouting for a fight?" Shen Yunfang was also venting her own frustration as she spoke, punctuating her words by poking Goudan’s forehead with her finger.
"Just look at how big you are, can’t you be a bit smarter? Don’t just react to every little thing you hear, okay? Can’t you have some ability to judge for yourself..."
Rambling on, Shen Yunfang stood in the office, unleashing a tirade. Goudan’s once proud head gradually drooped, and eventually, he slouched, looking dejected and defeated.
"I guess you’re not tired enough, huh? Come home with me at lunchtime, and you can give your uncle a good report of your thoughts," Shen Yunfang finished her scolding, her throat dry and her anger vented, finally closing the subject.
Goudan looked at his aunt with a woeful expression, wondering why it had to be like this, why he was so unlucky.
"By the way, now that you’re here, who’s going to do your job?" Shen Yunfang only then remembered this matter.
You have to understand that the work positions on the farm are pretty much set—if you need to take leave, you have to report it many days in advance, so others can be arranged to cover for you. With Goudan having left abruptly like this, no one would be there to take over his original tasks.
"I asked Brother Wang to keep an eye on things for me," Goudan replied quietly.
Shen Yunfang looked at Zhang Chunwang, wondering which Brother Wang she was talking about—someone who could gossip and still help out with work; what a good comrade indeed.
