Chapter 101: 009: The Fall of Undead Castle
Lynch stood up and kicked over the table, and with a grasp of his right hand, the Fearless Great Sword appeared out of thin air in his hand.
"Bang!"
Fiery flames erupted from the sword blade, quickly engulfing the entire great sword in raging flames.
Lynch gripped the great sword with both hands and swung it forward forcefully, as if pronouncing judgment on evil, vowing to annihilate the repulsive scene before him.
"Boom!" A loud explosion.
The flames exploded in the dining room, bursting everywhere, engulfing everything, including tables, chairs, the dead girl, and the skeleton maids around them, all burning fiercely.
"Ah!!! My skin!!!"
A howl echoed from within the flames as William’s skin ignited under the onslaught of fire.
He hurriedly attempted to dodge and remedy the situation, but flames were everywhere, and he could only watch as his skin burned and seared away.
"No! No! No!"
William’s voice was filled with panic and heartbreak, as if he had lost something important after his last attempt at remedy failed.
"Ah!!!"
He let out an angry roar, his eyes filling with bloodshot veins and locking onto Lynch, as his skin had burned away, exposing the crimson muscles beneath, making for a gruesome sight.
"You’ve ruined my skin!" he shrieked sharply, raising his hand and causing a bone spear to appear in the distorted space.
"I will kill you!"
He spat the threat through gritted teeth, pointing towards Lynch.
"Whoosh!"
A sharp whistling sound erupted as the spinning bone spear shot robustly towards Lynch.
Lynch immediately opened the Elemental Shield, but just as the bone spear made contact, ripples suddenly spread across the shield, followed by a crack, and the shield shattered.
"Huh?" Lynch was taken aback; the damage from the bone spear was unexpected.
Meanwhile, the unimpeded bone spear shot towards him again, and Lynch quickly activated Elemental Voidification, allowing the spear to pass through his body and embed into the wall behind.
Lynch turned in shock to glance at the bone spear; his Elemental Shield was at level 2, infused with four elements, providing defense comparable to the peak level of Mid-level Apprentice Level Magic with a defense threshold of 25 degrees.
To pierce it would require at least a 25-degree or higher High-level Apprentice Magic; could this bone spear be such a magic?
No...
Though he felt strong mental fluctuations from William Heim, they weren’t at the High-level Apprentice level, so this bone spear’s spell must be special.
Spells are as numerous as stars in the sky, and wizards can only broadly classify them, but there are always some unique spells with energy levels mismatched to their category, like Lynch’s Multi-element Shield, whose learned effect rivals High-level Apprentice Magic in power.
’Why think so much? Kill him, scour this place, and find out!’
Lynch shook his head, leaving his thoughts behind to focus on the battle at hand.
"Attack!"
"Protect the master!"
At the same time, hordes of skeletons, zombies, and other undead creatures surged in from the corridor, resembling a tidal wave as they flooded into the dining room, with some protecting William’s retreat while others lunged at Lynch.
Lynch furrowed his brow, contemplating an AOE attack, but Avery acted faster.
She took out her magic wand and chanted a spell, a large phantom appearing behind her, a knight in golden armor wielding a golden treasure sword, with a pair of large white wings emanating a sacred aura.
Avery waved her magic wand forward, and the knight behind her also raised the treasure sword, casting a flood of golden light.
The golden brilliance rained down upon the skeletal horde like raindrops, as if dousing a red-hot iron with a bucket of ice water, producing a continuous sizzling sound as the undead fell amidst howls.
William Heim suddenly grew emotional, staring intensely at Avery, saying, "The chant of the Holy Light Knight, the Bloodline of Light, you are, you are Tavendish!"
Avery ignored him, saying to Lynch, "Leave the small fry to me, you go take him down..."
Before she finished, her face suddenly flushed unnaturally, her body swayed violently, and the Holy Light Knight behind her crumbled, turning into golden light spots that quickly faded away.
Lynch stepped forward to support her.
Avery managed a weak smile, "Sorry for holding you back."
"It’s okay."
Lynch shook his head, grabbed a chair from afar, and sat Avery down, "Just watch."
Then he turned again to face the enemies.
Meanwhile, another wave of undead re-entered the dining room, but above them a heavy cloud ten meters in diameter formed silently, followed by a loud boom as three bolts of lightning struck down.
A purple ferocious beast dived into the Sea of Bones; not as visibly effective as the Light Attribute, but its 20-degree damage was more than these skeleton undeads could withstand.
Lacking the enhancement of an opposing attribute, the beast tore through the surrounding undead purely with brute force.
"Crash!"
Fragments of undead flew everywhere as an explosion opened up an empty space in front of William Heim.
[Thunder Strike Skill Level +80.]
Milk-white fighting spirit emerged silently from Lynch’s body, his posture lowering as his leg muscles tensed abruptly. In the next second, he shot forward like a rocket.
Direct Death Without Advance: Charge!
Boosted by fighting spirit, Lynch’s speed became astonishing, crossing dozens of meters in an instant, appearing before William Heim before the skeletons could surround him.
Lynch slashed straight down at William Heim.
"Clang!"
An ethereal bone shield materialized before William Heim, blocking the deadly blow.
Can you block it?
Lynch kicked William Heim along with the shield, sending him flying. He then grabbed the great sword with both hands and slashed down hard, like hitting a ball, sending William Heim crashing heavily into the wall ahead.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"
The concentrated sound of arrows resonated as a group of skeleton archers appeared on both sides of the corridor, shooting a barrage of bone arrows towards Lynch.
Lynch didn’t dodge, expanding the Multi-element Shield to its maximum, his gaze fixed on William Heim ahead.
These necromancy creatures possessed the undying trait, meaning they would endlessly respawn unless the necromancer himself was eliminated.
In understanding necromancy, Lynch was no less knowledgeable than William Heim.
"Boom!"
Lynch charged out again.
Covering several dozen meters instantaneously, Lynch wielded his great sword once more before William Heim.
Now cornered by Lynch, William Heim’s undead servants stood at a distance around him, relying solely on the surrounding bone shield for protection.
Lynch wasted no words, raising the great sword to launch a ferocious attack on William Heim.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
Flashes of sword light flickered repeatedly as the great sword hacked fiercely at the bone shield, causing it to tremble unsteadily.
William Heim’s undead servants swarmed from behind, attacking Lynch, but were all blocked by Lynch’s Elemental Shield.
The undead attacked Lynch while Lynch assaulted William Heim.
No fancy strategizing, just a pure contest of spell power, a straightforward duel of attack versus defense.
Will the Elemental Shield shatter first, or will Lynch sever William Heim’s head first; this would decide victory!
Finally!
After several minutes of stalemate, with a cracking sound, the bone shield shattered.
In this contest of magical energy, ultimately the Multi-element Shield, infused with four elements, surpassed William Heim’s bone shield.
The Cross Sword glimmered coldly before William Heim, yet this monster showed no fear or regret.
His gruesome face, with exposed bloody muscles where skin had burned away, still eyed Lynch with spinning pupils.
The mouth kept repeating, "Perfect, perfect body, wonderful, wonderful!"
Lunatic!
Lynch wondered if this world had any system for scrutinizing people like in some kind of political examination; he certainly hoped so.
Because such madmen were indeed terrifying.
More frightening was...
Entrusting such power to a madman like this.
"Puh!" A sound.
The great sword plunged firmly into the madman’s chest, piercing straight through his heart.
The next second.
A torrent of flames burst from the sword blade, surging towards the madman, like a cold, merciless maw that swallowed him whole.
