Chapter 56: 023: Biological Transformation Expert and Magic Little Expert
During these three years, Lynch completed all apprentice-level biological transformation knowledge available in the Tower: aquatic organisms, terrestrial organisms, amphibians, mammals, oviparous creatures, avians, elemental beings... He dived into every biological transformation topic he could access.
Upon mastering this knowledge, a specific entry appeared on his data list.
Trait: Biological Transformation Expert.
Biological Transformation Expert: You have accumulated vast amounts of knowledge in the field of biological transformation. Now, you possess profound expertise in transforming any creature with ease. Congratulations, you are a bona fide Biological Transformation Expert.
Trait Effect: As a Biological Transformation Expert, you demonstrate extraordinary comprehension when studying materials related to biological transformation, allowing you to swiftly grasp any knowledge in this field.
This was the first knowledge-based trait Lynch had achieved through relentless effort, and he could deeply sense the benefits it brought him. Previously, learning materials in this category took him half a day to fully understand, with skill level merely increasing by 1 or 2 points.
But now, he could easily understand any biological transformation book placed in front of him. A single reading session would effortlessly increase his skill level by tens of points, sometimes even by dozens.
Think about it, it makes sense—"Practice makes perfect."
No matter what the task is, the more you do it, the better you grasp its underlying principles and logic, making similar tasks much more efficient afterward.
"I wonder if similar traits exist for other knowledge categories once mastered? They probably do," he mused.
Apart from his main specialty, over these three years, Lynch hadn’t neglected other fields of magic knowledge. If you want to know how much he mastered in total... Just take a glance at his data panel:
[Fire Element Control: From Basics to Mastery—Max]
[Elemental Studies: Basic Concepts and Interaction Rules—Max]
[Formation of Wind Element...]
This was the Elemental category.
[Bloodline Fusion Basics—Max]

This was the Bloodline category.
[Soul Study—Max]

This was the Spiritual category.
From spells to body refinement, all the way to spiritual topics—the three major Wizard categories; from Elemental Studies to Bloodline Analysis to Soul Hypnosis, and dozens of other magical disciplines, Lynch has dabbled across them all.
Even Lynch himself wasn’t clear on the exact number of books he had read, but he maintained a process of completing one book within three days to a week, consistently borrowing a new book after mastering the knowledge of the previous one. For three years, he had never stopped.
In the Copper Key archives, Lynch had gone through over half of the books. Among the remaining ones, excluding repetitive content, there weren’t many left to tackle.
Besides self-studying these topics privately, Lynch frequently attended lectures across various fields of magic.
Elemental, biological, spiritual.
Regardless of the category or magical discipline, as long as there was an open class listed on the schedule, Lynch would guarantee he’d secure his seat early in the classroom.
Some open classes were scheduled during inconvenient hours—either too early or too late—and barely had any apprentices attending, even from the relevant discipline. Nevertheless, Lynch’s enthusiasm remained unwavering.
Even when some classes explored dense content, and the instructors gave dull lectures that left most apprentices dozing off midway, Lynch’s eyes flickered with passion as he diligently took notes.
Bear in mind, many nights beforehand, Lynch had already spent the entire evening grinding through lessons.
With such a near-maniacal devotion to learning, Lynch developed an astonishing mastery of apprentice-level knowledge. To put it simply: throw him into any academic subgroup under the three major categories, and he could seamlessly integrate, often ranking among the top students in the class.
When it came to mastery of apprentice-level knowledge, no one across the Shadow Tower could rival Lynch’s proficiency—not even some Wizards.
For Wizards, knowledge equates to power.
Such an immense foundation of magical knowledge ultimately resulted in a large repertoire of basic spells for Lynch.
[Fireball Technique—Max]
[Fire Element Control—Max]
[Wind Blade—Max]
[Wind Summon Skill—Max]
[Earth Sinking—Max]
[Water Control Skill—Level 1]

[Hypnosis]
[Spirit Resilience]

[Blood Boiling]
Beyond mastering spells in Elemental magic—excluding the Light attribute—Lynch delved into Spiritual and Refining Systems alike. Across the three major spell categories, Lynch had learned over twenty spells.
It’s worth noting that apprentices joining the Inner Ring around the same time as Lynch could only manage to learn one or two magic spells on average. Learning three spells already classified someone as a top student. Meanwhile, Lynch had acquired nearly ten times as many.
Even more frightening is that several of his spells had been honed to mastery level—something unparalleled even among the resource-abundant Inner Tower apprentices under the tutelage of skilled Wizards.
Such extensive spell-learning efforts culminated in a new spell-related trait.
Trait: Magic Little Expert.
Magic Little Expert: You’ve learned over 20 apprentice-level spells across different magical disciplines. Your proficiency spans the three major spell categories. Congratulations, you are a true Magic Little Expert.
Trait Effect: Studying any apprentice-level magic will grant a 5%–35% efficiency bonus.
This trait is remarkably powerful, though its efficacy varies depending on the type of magic learned. Simpler magic spells enjoy the full 35% bonus, with significant leaps in proficiency each time. However, more complex spells see smaller bonuses.
This disparity is most noticeable in Elemental magic.
When studying most spells, Lynch could ensure his trait’s bonus exceeded 20%. For Dark and Fire Elements, in particular, he almost consistently hit the full 35% bonus, seeing skill increases of multiple points—sometimes ten or even dozens per session.
Conversely, when dealing with Water Element and Light Element spells, progress was painfully slow, often yielding only 1 or 2 points of proficiency increase each time. For Water Element, he could only manage to learn Water Control Skill at Level 1 so far; for Light Element, proper mastery remained elusive.
This struggle stems from a common issue with opposite system elements. Constructing magic models for opposite elements is hampered by elemental clashes, complicating the process significantly.
Though Lynch thoroughly understood both Water Element and Light Element on a theoretical level, issues arose every time he attempted to build a spell model. The interference would disrupt his spiritual power, forcing him to stop.
"Take it slow, I’ll tackle this later," Lynch thought. 𝖓𝔬𝔳𝔭𝔲𝔟.𝖈𝖔𝔪
After several unsuccessful attempts, Lynch decided to leave the more challenging puzzles for the future. With so many other spells remaining to master, there was no need to get stuck on these for now.
Having covered knowledge and spells, let’s move on to the most critical aspect—perhaps the most direct indicator of a Wizard’s power: meditation level.
Thanks to three years of unrelenting effort, Lynch had long surpassed the stage of being a fledgling apprentice with merely one Basic Will Rune and feeble spiritual power. Now, he had truly grown...
