Chapter 1059: Time passes like the speed of day and month _2
Lonco bought Magic Scrolls worth 10 million points of energy strength, which could be enhanced through the injection of Thunder and Lightning Energy, increasing the might of the Thundercloud.
The Magic Scrolls sold by Noland Lee previously were all of 100 million Thunder and Lightning Energy.
In this exchange, there was a huge difference of 90 million energy points, which meant that Noland Lee would earn a lot fewer gold coins.
Upon closer consideration, Lonco’s actions were probing the cost of Noland Lee using Wild Magic.
A Magic Scroll of 10 million Thunder and Lightning Energy is one price.
One of 100 million points is another price.
...
After factoring out the influence of the varying amounts of Thunder and Lightning Energy on the cost, the remaining part of the cost which does not change with the amount of energy is the price Noland Lee must pay when he casts Wild Magic.
This was equivalent to figuring out some of the details of the “Thundercloud Technique.”
Noland Lee would not let Lonco and his backer, Mingwaq Pomida, get rid of him so easily.
“I’ll handle Lonco,” he said.
After thinking, Noland Lee asked,
“Is there anything unusual in the Pollution Zone?”
“This is the fourth matter I want to discuss with you, Sir,”
Nolin said,
“In the month you were out of touch, the number of monsters in the Pollution Zone multiplied, but about five days ago, all of the monsters mysteriously disappeared. Moreover, the appearance of the Pollution Zone is transforming into a stony exterior. If you leave the Pollution Zone now, you can see the veins slowly turning into rock. In about one more month, the appearance of the Pollution Zone will be nothing but stone, with no traces of veins.”
It seems the vascular appearance of the Pollution Zone is related to the Binder of Blood… Noland Lee slightly lowered his head, scanning the ground and the walls on either side.
At some point, the dry black bloodstains had already started to crack.
They were fragmented like cracked tree bark, scattered on the ground, or barely clinging to the walls.
A slight gust of wind would scatter the bloodstains, whipping up fine red sand and gravel.
Noland Lee cast Deconstruction, nodding slowly.
Blood Binder Zudak was dead.
The Deconstruction Results showed that the consumption for deconstructing these bloodstains had plummeted, turning them into ordinary bloodstains without any Extraordinary Traits.
On their panel information, the entries related to the “Binder of Blood” were all tagged by the system as “invalid” or “terminated.”
This meant that although Noland Lee intentionally left a small portion of corpse essence for Nabby, it did not impact the final outcome of the Task significantly.
Blood Binder Zudak was already dead and didn’t survive because a portion of his corpse essence had been absorbed by Nabby.
“Just not sure if my act of dividing the corpse essence will affect the remuneration from the Assassin Angel…”
Noland Lee pondered secretly, continuing to listen to Nolin’s words.
The mutations inside the Pollution Zone had attracted the attention of both Ulnas Circle and the Grey Wizards.
The monsters within the Pollution Zone attacked the wizards from both sides indiscriminately, a vast difference from the previous immunity the Grey Wizards had from the monsters’ hostility.
Ulnas Circle thought the increase in monsters was the Grey Wizards’ doing, while the Grey Wizards believed that the monsters’ indiscriminate attacks on everyone indicated Ulnas Circle was causing trouble.
Both sides engaged in fierce combat inside the Pollution Zone.
While brutal fights were raging on the front lines, intelligence activities were thriving behind the scenes.
Both sides had planted spies within the other’s ranks.
Spies stole secrets, sending them back to their main camps.
This gave birth to intense exchanges of information, with many leads being unearthed by the spies of both sides.
First and foremost, it was confirmed that the mutations within the Pollution Zone had something to do with the Soul Shaping Society and the Shadow Death Magic Realm.
More precisely, it was the Soul Shaping Society’s doing.
This wizard force from Ulnas Circle secretly conspired with the Shadow Death Magic Realm to construct a ceremony that communicated with the Extraterrestrial Void, opening the Pollution Zone.
The Soul Shaping Society claimed they did all of this to help the Shadow Death Magic Realm solve their reproduction issue.
But in fact, they were backed by an Extraterrestrial Void Force known as the Dark Divine Cult.
Their true intention in opening the Pollution Zone was not to solve the Shadow Deathers’ propagation problems but to coordinate with the Dark Divine Cult to execute a secret plan.
What the specifics of this plan were is something both Ulnas Circle and the Grey Wizards were unaware of.
The Soul Shaping Society didn’t reveal it to the Shadow Death Magic Realm, and after the opening of the Pollution Zone, all members of the Soul Shaping Society disappeared without a trace.
The person in control of the Soul Shaping Society, the Lecturer Professor, and the founder, Gilbert Winchester, had sealed off his Sub-Dimensional Plane, cutting off all roads to and from the Sub-Dimensional Plane.
All wizard apprentices and wizards under his command had entered his sub-dimensional plane, leaving no one behind in the natural world.
Not only that, but Gilbert Winchester seemed to also have mastered a method of hiding the entrance to the sub-dimensional plane—the stars in the sky.
Now, at this moment, the stars of the “Soul Shaping Secret Forest” sub-dimensional plane can no longer be observed in the night sky.
With such a reaction from the Soul Sculpting Society, coupled with the drastic increase in the number of monsters within the Pollution Zone, the Ulnas Circle and Grey Wizards naturally associated these factors with the imminent success of the Dark Divine Cult’s plan.
However, the massive change that followed left the Ulnas Circle and Grey Wizards at a loss.
The monsters inside the Pollution Zone had all vanished.
The creatures that would traverse through bloodstains, resurrecting through them, had perished overnight.
The bloodstains that covered every corner of the Pollution Zone had completely cracked and shattered, turning into dust.
It can be said that now the wizards of Ulnas Circle can move freely within the Pollution Zone.
Only the Grey Wizards guarding the Ceremony Site of the Pollution Zone could hinder them.
The Grey Wizards were initially hired by the Shadow Death Magic Realm and came to assist for that reason.
Now that the Shadow Death Magic Realm has been betrayed by the Soul Shaping Society, was there still a need to continue guarding the Ceremony Site?
The spies of Ulnas Circle sent back a worrisome secret letter.
This letter had just been made public a few days ago.
The letter stated:
There was internal strife among the Grey Wizard faction.
A small group of Grey Wizards, dissatisfied with the remuneration from the Shadow Death Magic Realm, plotted to seize the opportunity to sabotage the ceremony that communicates with the Extraterrestrial Void.
But the Dark Divine Cult stopped these Grey Wizards’ actions.
The Ceremony Site has been protected by the Dark Divine Cult for some time now, strictly forbidding anyone from approaching.
A strange force field enveloped the ritual array, preventing the Grey Wizards from causing any damage to it, no matter how furiously they bombarded it.
As long as the ritual array is not damaged, the Pollution Zone will continue to expand.
Although there were no longer bloodstains and blood creatures in the domain, the loud, noisy sounds that lingered around were still persistent.
Ulnas Circle came to a rather pessimistic conclusion:
The disappearance of the bloodstains and blood creatures does not mean the plan of the Dark Divine Cult has failed, their plan might still be in progress.
Well…
How should I put it?
Noland Lee, as an insider who had seen the solution, could only say that the reaction of Ulnas Circle was normal.
The “Dark Book” listed Blood Binder Zudak as the first deity to be revived.
The book did indeed say so.
But if Blood Binder Zudak failed to be resurrected successfully, there would necessarily be alternative emergency measures.
Surely, the failure of Blood Binder Zudak’s revival couldn’t affect the other 12 Dark Deities, right?
Therefore, the Dark Divine Cult preventing Grey Wizards and Ulnas Circle from destroying the ritual array must be preparations for reviving the other Dark Deities.
After all, it’s not easy to create a Pollution Zone within the Inner Cosmos, and it shouldn’t be allowed to close down so easily.
Noland Lee contemplated for a while, and his injuries healed as if they were never there, leaving no scars behind.
He established a mental connection with Denise Green, reported his safe return, and surveyed Island 33 with his Mental Magic.
Everything was normal, and all parties were safe and sound.
It was a good thing he always made sure to prepare thoroughly; no chaos arose during the month he was missing.
But, that being said.
Noland Lee slightly narrowed his eyes.
If the flow of time in that space far exceeded that of the natural world, wouldn’t that mean Omar Goddard’s transferring of soul and Extraordinary Traits could happen very swiftly?
Noland Lee looked down at the pendant on his chest, attempting to contact Omar Goddard.
The Titan Dusk Giants had left a small portion of their will within the pendant, and Noland could feel it.
After calling out several times, Noland did not receive a response from Omar Goddard but was instead unexpectedly surrounded by a tide of purple fog.
Noland Lee raised an eyebrow, advised Nolin to protect herself, and then his consciousness was dragged by the purple fog into the radiantly purple “Land of the Crownless.”
