Chapter 1229: Chapter 1229: Lyke Zhekova Is About To Start Hunting_1 Chapter 1229 -1229: Lyke Zhekova Is About To Start Hunting_1 Old Madam: “…”

Oh dear, she hadn’t thought this through!

For a moment, Old Madam felt especially weary.

She wanted to just let it all go, to get back to being a tough old woman and abandon her dreams of being a gentle matriarch.

But when she looked at Victoria Wheeler, and then at the little one, she found she couldn’t bear to let either of them get hurt.

She turned to Victoria Wheeler and whispered, “I was comparing Morgan to his yet-to-be-born uncle.

But of all of them, Morgan is my favorite.”

Victoria Wheeler seemed to slightly regain her color and then asked, “And what about me and Morgan?”

Old Madam glanced at Morgan and whispered even quieter, “You…you’re still you.”

Afterward, she looked at the little one, offering a soothing glance.

Peggy Lewis>: “…”

Was this how the Zhekova family usually interacted?

...

Peggy looked at Lyke Zhekova.

Lyke shook his head.

Don’t ask him; he didn’t know.

He wasn’t usually coming here that often.

So, Peggy turned to look at Cindy Clarke.

Cindy, with a loving smile, nodded.

Yes, this was how they interacted.

If it were only Victoria Wheeler or Morgan, any one of them alone, everything could have been resolved.

But once they were together, Old Madam was under a tremendous amount of pressure, with no chance for relaxation.

Peggy mused that even Old Madam has it tough.

As for this kind of scene, Well, Cindy had got used to it.

Even though one was her mother-in-law, and the other was her son.

Cindy didn’t feel the least pressure.

All the pressure was on Old Madam.

Cindy, entirely at ease, turned to Peggy, “How is the taste of the cake?”

“It’s delicious,” said Peggy.

Cindy smiled and said, “Alright, I’ll stick to this recipe from now on.”

Old Madam managed to weather this storm, barely making it through.

She didn’t dare to keep them any longer.

She wished she could send them away immediately, to give herself a break.

Unless necessary, she couldn’t bear having Victoria Wheeler and the little one appearing before her eyes at the same time.

Seeing how tired Old Madam looked, Old Master sneered, “If you knew it’d be like this, why bother in the first place?”

“You don’t understand,” Old Madam looked superior, “you can never truly grasp such dilemma.”

“Thank you, but I don’t wish to understand,” stated Old Master, declining the unnecessary enlightenment.

At night, everyone went home.

Lyke and Peggy also returned home.

Now, Lyke’s place had indeed become her home.

She felt a true sense of belonging today.

Reminded of the upcoming event unavoidable tonight, Peggy felt nervous.

But remembering her remaining workload, she, fortunately, managed to calm down her nervousness.

As they walked through the door, Lyke casually asked, “Would you like to take a shower first?”

Hitting the shower then comfortably getting to work came to Peggy’s mind.

“Sure.” Peggy nodded in agreement.

Just as Lyke was wondering why Peggy, who would typically be shy, agreed so readily, he heard her saying, “I can finish the remaining work after a shower.”

Only then did Lyke remember the pending work issue.

Peggy hurriedly took a quick shower, brushed her teeth, changed to her pajamas, and let Lyke go take his bath while she went to the study with her laptop.

Lyke didn’t expect his long-awaited wedding night to turn out this way.

Before going to take his shower, Lyke stopped by the study and asked, “How long do you expect to work?”

Looking at the workload, she estimated she would need around an hour.

But feeling nervous, she purposely postponed it, “Roughly, around one and a half to two hours.”

Lyke nodded and said, “It’s late already, don’t stay up too late.”

Peggy: “…”

Seeing Peggy’s blushing face, Lyke couldn’t help but laugh, “I didn’t mean to…you know…that thing!”.

“Although, I do look forward to it, my main concern is that we returned late tonight, and tomorrow morning you have to go to work.

I’m afraid if you stay up too late, your lack of sleep and insufficient rest may wear you out.”

Upon hearing that, Peggy realized she had misunderstood.

It seemed as if she had portrayed Lyke as a person who could only think of that kind of thing, which made her feel particularly embarrassed.

“I’ll work as fast as I can,” Peggy promised after hearing Lyke’s explanation, immediately abandoning her plan to procrastinate.

Lyke was such a gentleman.

Even at this moment, he was still thinking about her rest needs.

Why would he be impatient for that kind of thing?

Peggy even chastised herself for misconstruing Lyke’s intentions.

This was not fair to him at all.

Lyke gave a gentle smile, “Would you like a cup of coffee?”

“Can I?” Peggy asked excitedly.

“I’m afraid it might affect your sleep, so you can only have a little, not as much as you’d usually have during the daytime,” Lyke replied.

“Alright,” Peggy quickly agreed.

About ten minutes later, Lyke brought her half a cup of coffee.

“This much is all you get.

Just drink a little to stay alert,” Lyke advised.

“Okay,” Peggy nodded, took a small sip and felt instantly refreshed.

“I’ll finish it with the highest efficiency.

Don’t worry,” she always demonstrated a high productivity at work.

“Alright, I am going to go take a shower then,” said Lyke with a smile.

“Go then,” At this point, Peggy felt genuinely relaxed.

She even innocently thought that maybe Lyke doesn’t have that in his plan for tonight.

With absolutely no pressure, Peggy’s work efficiency was surprisingly high.

It was even higher than when she was working in the company.

Office tasks were always interrupted by phone calls and meetings with colleagues.

Now, peaceful and quiet, she was undisturbed.

The job, initially projecting to take over an hour, was completed in just 50 minutes.

Having accomplished her work, she was relieved.

Peggy stretched her body languorously, picked up the empty coffee cup and walked out of the study.

Lyke was in the living room.

“All done?” Lyke asked.

Efforts were made to hide his anticipation from his eyes.

He had managed to put Peggy at ease; he shouldn’t stir up her nerves again.

Completely unaware of Lyke’s hidden motives, Peggy cheerfully nodded, “Yes, it’s done.

I’m quite efficient.”

As she spoke, she took her coffee cup to the kitchen and put it in the dishwasher intending to wash it with the other dishes the next morning.

As soon as she closed the dishwasher, she turned around, only to bump right into Lyke.

His chest felt considerably firmer than she remembered.

The impact made Peggy’s head spin.

Even her heart started to race.

Before she could make sense of it, she found herself lifted off the ground by Lyke.

Not in a bridal carry.

In an act of harboring her around her waist, Lyke lifted her straight up.

Peggy uttered a gasp, just to be cut off by a kiss from Lyke.
