Chapter 1230: Chapter 1230: His First Regret, Marrying Too Late_1 Chapter 1230 -1230: His First Regret, Marrying Too Late_1 Peggy Lewis’s face flushed under Lyke Zhekova’s kiss, only able to weakly rest in his arms, unable to muster any strength.

In a daze, she vaguely felt herself being held by Lyke Zhekova, rapidly retreating.

With the small shred of consciousness she had left, Peggy silently thought that everything Lyke had just done must have been to lower her guard and ease her nerves, right?

She honestly felt that living with Lyke simply highlighted her intellectual shortcomings.

Always feeling like an idiot.

That was Peggy’s last coherent thought.

Afterward, she could not think of anything.

...

Lyke placed her on the bed, holding her tightly in his arms.

Just as Cindy Clarke had mentioned, Peggy didn’t even have the time to ponder whether she looked attractive, or if what she was wearing was suitable.

Before she even had the chance to react, Lyke had her all befuddled.

The only thing Peggy could remember was that Lyke’s stamina was remarkable.

She didn’t know how long they had been at it, she was completely exhausted, but Lyke still seemed fine.

The sound of Lyke’s heavy breathing was still in her ear, sounding strangely enticing to her.

His breath tickling her ear, neck, and shoulders.

Peggy never knew that such an intimate feeling with a man could be so sensational.

It felt as though she had fused with him into one, inseparable.

It was as if a part of him had delved deep into her body.

Their perfect harmony made Peggy lose control, she held Lyke tightly and started crying.

Lyke had never faced this before.

Seeing Peggy cry made him panic.

Hurriedly, he held her tighter, wiping away her tears.

“What’s wrong?

Why are you crying?”

“Did I do something wrong?” Lyke asked anxiously.

Peggy shook her head.

She looked so fragile in Lyke’s eyes.

“Did I hurt you?” Lyke tried to find fault within himself, “Did…did I act too rash without discussing it with you first?”

“It’s my fault, I shouldn’t have acted like that.” Lyke admitted.

“That’s not it.” Peggy heard Lyke’s increasing misunderstanding and quickly spoke up.

“I don’t know how to put it.” she also had not faced this feeling before, clueless about how to describe it, “It’s not resentment.

If I had to put it into words, perhaps it’s more akin to being touched?”

Peggy sniffled, at this point, she actually didn’t want to talk anymore.

Firstly, she had no energy.

Secondly, it was due to a certain indescribable feeling that she could only sense.

“Feels just! being with you, it’s great.” Peggy in Lyke’s arms, her cheek nuzzling against the sweat-slick surface of his chest.

Lyke heaved a sigh of relief.

As long as he didn’t do anything wrong, or make Peggy feel uncomfortable, or come to despise him, everything was fine.

“So…” Lyke’s finger lightly glided on Peggy’s shoulder blade, “You aren’t upset?”

Peggy felt lax, even wishing Lyke would stop talking and just continue.

“Upset about what?” she couldn’t think of any reason to be upset at him.

So what was Lyke worried about?

“It’s nothing.” Lyke sighed in relief.

So that means Peggy didn’t have any discontent towards his ploys tonight.

They could resume tomorrow.

Lyke gazed down at Peggy nestled in his arms.

Peggy’s cheeks were flushed a bright pink, even the tip of her nose looked slightly reddish.

Her eyes droopy from fatigue, her lashes wet from her tears.

Unconsciously, Lyke stole a quick, tender kiss on her half-closed eyes.

He could still taste the fading salty tears.

He then landed another kiss on her reddened nose.

“Are you exhausted?” If she wasn’t, he could continue.

Peggy quickly responded: “I’m tired!

I still have to wake up early for work tomorrow.”

Lyke wished he could ask for a leave for Peggy, so she could rest tomorrow.

However, he ended up not saying anything.

If Peggy wanted to, she would ask for it.

If she didn’t bring it up, that meant she didn’t want it.

Lyke then nestled against Peggy: “Alright, let’s sleep then.”

Last night, it all happened so suddenly that before Peggy had the chance to react, she was carried into the bedroom.

So, Peggy’s things were still left unpacked in her room.

For now, they were left untouched.

As long as Peggy was here, everything was fine.

Lyke lay there holding her in his arms contentedly, rubbing his cheek against the top of Peggy’s fluffy head: “Goodnight.”

“Goodnight.” Peggy’s voice steadily softened.

Then her voice gradually faded.

Even the coffee she had last night couldn’t fend off the exhaustion from Lyke’s wear.

She drifted into a deep sleep.

Lyke craned his neck to look at Peggy under the dim moonlight.

He also closed his eyes.

However, his drowsiness had yet to take over.

This was a perfect opportunity to savour the satisfaction of falling asleep with Peggy in his arms.

The silence of the night was only disturbed by the soft, yet long breathes of Peggy in deep sleep.

Lyke couldn’t hide his smile, his mouth curling up at the corners, a smile he couldn’t shake off.

For the first time, he regretted getting married so late.

If he had married at a younger age, it would have been better.

His energy certainly couldn’t compete with what he had a couple of years ago.

Lyke lamented in regret.

If only he had met Peggy two years earlier.

He currently knew Peggy through Cindy.

But if he had met Peggy two years earlier, it wouldn’t have affected Adrian Zhekova’s relationship with Cindy.

It could have even allowed Adrian Zhekova to meet Cindy two years earlier.

Regretfully, Lyke gazed at the beautifully sleeping Peggy.

She had been working at Ruishi for so long yet why hasn’t she thought of expanding the business to Majestic?

If she had developed the business in Majestic earlier, he could have met her sooner.

Like this, with feelings of regret, Lyke drifted into sleep.

Come morning, Peggy was woken up by the alarm on her mobile phone.

She was accustomed to placing her phone at her bedside, so she could reach for it every morning without opening her eyes.

So like every morning, she reached her arm out to find her phone.

Unexpectedly, her stretching arm felt an underlying strong force, her breath hitched as if something impeded her respiration.

Peggy was still in her sleep, unwilling to open her eyes.

But now, she had to wake up.

Peggy opened her eyes, her eyelids feeling sluggish, she even wanted to rub her eyes.

But her arm couldn’t move, she had to force herself to adjust for a while before finally opening her eyes fully.

To her surprise, what greeted her was a sturdy chest.

Peggy gasped, feeling a breath tickling her forehead, causing a tingling sensation.

Slowly, the memories of the previous night flooded back into her mind.

She was married, they had registered.

Her name was written alongside Lyke’s on the same Household Register.

Moreover, last night she and Lyke…
