Chapter 270: No venture, no gain.

Chapter 270: No venture, no gain.

Sometimes, when a person knows they are about to tread a perilous path, they have no option but to walk it.

Just like now, Song Qinghuan is aware that her actions might invite a multitude of dangers and troubles, but she cannot avoid it.

No risk, no reward.

Song Qinghuan, clutching a document, knocked on Tao Wenliang’s office door and gently pushed it open after getting permission.

“Mr. Tao, hello, this is a list of staff dispatched from the headquarters. Would you please sign it?” Song Qinghuan said casually with a slight smile, showing great composure.

Tao Wenliang reached out and quickly skimmed through it.

Song Qinghuan fixed her gaze on him, her mind racing with thoughts. Biting her lip, her eyes curved into a faint smile as she casually remarked, “Mr. Tao, I saw you outside the company this afternoon. Your silhouette seemed strangely familiar, as if I’ve seen it somewhere before.”

Upon hearing this, Tao Wenliang noticeably stiffened.

He glanced at Song Qinghuan, then smiled faintly, his expression unflustered. “Really?”

There were no further words. It seemed as if he merely thought of Song Qinghuan as a subordinate trying to build a rapport with him.

Song Qinghuan felt like she was punching a cotton pad, without getting the response she had anticipated.

But she wasn’t discouraged. Looking at Tao Wenliang’s reaction, it was clear he knew about the matter of his recognizable silhouette. Even though he had left Times Group’s headquarters, he must still have informants within the organization. The fact that she had the photographs would have been reported to him. 𝓃𝓸𝓿𝓹𝓾𝓫.𝓬ℴ𝓶

So, his reaction upon hearing her comment about his silhouette was thus understandable.

After Song Qinghuan left his office, Tao Wenliang’s pen hit the office desk with a thud, his facial expression as ghastly as if it had been struck by ice, and cold to the bone.

Shortly after, he got up and left his office.

As his car left the company’s underground car park, a black business vehicle followed him immediately.

Poor lighting filled the dim room.

A man sat on the sofa, looking displeasingly at Tao Wenliang. “Why are you here? Don’t you know that Shi Yuhuan is in Xiamen? You came all the way here. Do you want him to find any evidence against you or do you want me to find him?”

Tao Wenliang quickly waved his hand, frowned and said, “Of course not! Didn’t we say that once Yan Pingdan disappeared there was no cause for worry anymore? Why has another woman appeared now, and how did she get the pictures? Have you investigated who this woman is? Is she going to persist with this?”

The man looked at him with an emotionless face and didn’t say anything, but just lit a cigarette.

Tao Wenliang continued: “She is also in Xiaman now, and boldly came to tell me that I look like someone else. Does this woman know something? I think this woman could become troublesome; perhaps we should get rid of her.”

The man shook his head. “No, the command from the top is that we can’t touch that woman.”

Tao Wenliang asked, “Why?”

The man asked, “Do you know who Shi Yuhuan’s new wife is?”

Tao Wenliang furrowed his brow as he thought about it, then with a shocked look widened his eyes and asked the man, “It’s not this woman, is it?”

The man nodded. “Exactly! We don’t know whether Shi Yuhuan knows she is investigating Yan Pingdan or not, so we shouldn’t act rashly; otherwise, they may discover something. They will be leaving here in seven days, and then everything will be fine. Right now, she just suspects you but doesn’t dare to confirm anything.”
