Chapter 271: 271, Quiet, with a hint of tenderness
Ever since Song Qinghuan concluded that Tao Wenliang might be the individual in the photograph, she had taken over all the work related to the running of the CEO’s office.
Occasionally, she would exchange a few words with Tao Wenliang, or subtly probe him.
Apart from the first time when she mentioned “the figure from behind,” and Tao Wenliang stiffened slightly, he had not shown any irregularities in his interactions with her subsequently.
Three days had passed, and Song Qinghuan had nothing to show for her efforts. She was deeply frustrated!
Similarly, she was starting to become a bit anxious. She felt the need for a big move. But how to make this move, she had no idea.
She pondered for a long time but still couldn’t come up with any clue.
Back at the hotel in the evening, lost in her thoughts, she stared blankly out the window while drying her hair.
Glancing at her from the corner of his eye while reviewing documents, Shi Yuhuan noted she’d been in this state for quite a while.
“Song Qinghuan!”
The detached voice of Shi Yuhuan brought her back to her senses. She turned to look at him and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Simultaneously, she walked over to him and stood beside him.
With a slight tug from Shi Yuhuan, she was pulled into a strong embrace.
He planted a light kiss on her lips and then on her neck, his slender fingers making their way into her nightgown.
Surprised, Song Qinghuan pulled back instinctively, timidly holding his hand in place: “I’m not feeling well today, it’s that time of the month!”
Embarrassed, her cheeks flushed.
Shi Yuhuan slightly arched an eyebrow, understanding her hint. However, he didn’t let go. He held her close, leaning against the couch, pretending to sleep.
Things had quieted down between them since that night’s confrontation, their interactions seemingly returning to the way they were before, profoundly peaceful.
However, this tranquility now held a touch more tenderness than before.
With her fair arm draped over Shi Yuhuan’s neck, Song Qinghuan looked at his strikingly handsome face, pondering whether or not to ask him about her strategy. He’s cleverer than her and would surely have better ideas.
However, she couldn’t directly ask him but had to do so indirectly.
Although she had always believed that Shi Yuhuan had nothing to do with her brother’s disappearance — he was the boss of the company, after all, and wouldn’t concoct such a crude excuse accusing her brother of embezzlement which would subject the company to a thorough investigation — she still couldn’t tell Shi Yuhuan that Yan Pingdan was her brother and why she joined the Times Group.
Just in case he had anything to do with her brother’s disappearance, right?
Right. How had she never considered this possibility?
If Shi Yuhuan were indeed implicated in her brother’s disappearance and she had developed feelings for him, wanting to be with him forever, she’d be letting her brother down terribly.
Shi Yuhuan had his eyes shut but seemed as aware of her as if they were wide open. Knowing she had been watching him intently, he finally opened his mouth: “You have something to say to me?”
Caught off guard, Song Qinghuan quickly shook her head: “Absolutely nothing!”
Nevertheless, it wasn’t a good idea to discuss this with Shi Yuhuan.
She could broach the subject indirectly but didn’t know how to do it in a way that a clever man like Shi Yuhuan wouldn’t identify her actual concerns. n𝚘𝚟𝚙u𝚋.co𝚖
Just then, the screen of Shi Yuhuan’s mobile phone lit up.
The screen read: “Call from Li Chengyun”.
Shi Yuhuan slowly opened his eyes, let go of Song Qinghuan, calmly took his mobile phone and answered the call.
