Chapter 607: 607, Obsession, Darkness Before Dawn 1

The hospital was eerily silent with only one patient on the VIP floor.

Shi Yuhuan gently pushed open the door of the ward. There were two beds in the spacious ward, but Shi Annuo was curled up on a sofa in the corner with a blanket over him, looking extremely weary, as though he had just awakened from a deep sleep.

Han Qianqian was sitting at the bedside, tightly holding the hand of the patient on the bed.

When she heard the door open, she instinctively looked back.

Seeing Shi Yuhuan, she immediately pouted, and started to quietly cry, “Brother.”

Shi Yuhuan tiptoed toward the bed, where he saw Han Wen unconscious.

Not even a month had passed, but Han Wen looked emaciated — the skin hanging loose on his skeletal frame. A pale, thin wrist was punctured by a tube, showing bulging veins. The tube was delivering nutritional fluids, maintaining a feeble life.

What had happened? How could he become like this?

Shi Annuo, who was not truly asleep, perceived that someone had entered the room and slowly opened his eyes.

When he saw Shi Yuhuan, he immediately tried to rise, “Brother!”

Shi Yuhuan gently kept him down with a hand on his shoulder, “You’ve been up all night, continue lying down for a bit.”

Shi Annuo shook his head, but he was unable to fall back asleep.

He stood up and said to Han Qianqian, “You’ve been up all night, go get some sleep. Brother and I will be here.”

Han Qianqian shook her head, then turned back to continuously stare at her father, Han Wen.

“I’ll go buy some breakfast, wait for me,” knowing that reasoning with her was futile, Shi Annuo eventually gave in.

As Shi Annuo’s footsteps gradually faded, Shi Yuhuan turned his gaze towards Han Qianqian, as if asking her what on Earth was happening.

Han Qianqian bit her lip, silently sobbing, while looking at her unresponsive father on the hospital bed.

It seemed as if she was gathering her thoughts, trying to make sense of what had happened so she could explain it to Shi Yuhuan. 𝖓𝔬𝔳𝔭𝖚𝖇.𝔠𝔬𝖒

Shortly after, Shi Annuo returned, holding a cup of milk, a sandwich, and a bowl of hot porridge.

“I didn’t know what you might want, so I got some things from both Chinese and Western, take a look and eat what you like,” Shi Annuo said, placing the breakfast on the bedside table.

Han Qianqian, devoid of appetite, shook her head, not wanting to eat anything.

“If you don’t eat, how could you sustain yourself to take care of Dad,” Shi Annuo worriedly pressed.

Han Qianqian considered this, realizing it made sense, and so she decided to eat a little.

Just as she was about to take a sip of her milk, Han Wen, who was lying in bed, suddenly woke up.

“Dad,” Han Qianqian called out in surprise and joy, setting down her cup and leaning over the bed to look at her dad attentively.

Han Wen’s blank gaze slowly moved, eventually resting on Shi Yuhuan.

It was as if someone in dire straits had seen a Sky God — a flicker of light passed through his eyes. He seemed to want to say something to Shi Yuhuan. His lips quivered for a long time but could only utter indistinct, “Eh eh eh eh~eh eh eh eh…”

After a short while, he began to pant heavily. As he gasped for breath, tears started to flow, streaming down his cheeks and soaking the pillow.

Simultaneously, Han Qianqian’s own tears fell furiously, “Dad, don’t talk, don’t talk any more.”

She gently cleaned his tear-streaked face with a towel, soothing him in a soft, childlike voice, “Dad, the Emperor is here, he is here, don’t worry. Take your time to tell us what you want to say.”
