Chapter 709: 709, Shen, Yuhuan Shi who can’t be at peace

In the hushed atmosphere of the office, it was already ten o’clock at night. All the lights were still brightly lit. Shi Yuhuan turned on his computer, about to go through the files when Liu Yuandong knocked and walked in.

He placed a document gently onto the desk, “Boss, these are the papers you requested. The latest findings concerning the old man.”

Shi Yuhuan nodded but didn’t speak.

Liu Yuandong hesitated for a moment before saying, “If there are no other instructions, I’ll head out.”

“Wait a moment.” Shi Yuhuan stopped her, continuing, “If there’s something else, just say it.”

Liu Yuandong was taken aback – the boss’s sharp eyes caught even the briefest hesitation.

Knowing that he couldn’t hide anything, he told him, “The man from that day wasn’t sent by the old man; he was sent by Shi Guozheng. Also, after Si Jianan was discharged, he moved into madam’s villa.”

Noticing Shi Yuhuan’s sudden cold gaze, Liu Yuandong hastily added, “But Mr. Li, the second son of the Li family, is also staying in the villa.”

“Alright, I got it!” Shi Yuhuan’s mind was heavy, but he didn’t show it on his face, instead asking Liu Yuandong to leave. 𝓷ℴ𝓿𝓅𝓊𝒷.𝓬𝓸𝓂

Following this, whether it were the documents on the phone or the information Liu Yuandong brought in, he couldn’t bring himself to look at them any longer.

He swiveled his chair to look out of the window at the high-rises, his face cold and expression deep as the sea, as he stared into the distance, lost in thought.

Much later, he picked up his phone off the desk.

After a long hesitation, he finally dialed Song Qinghuan’s number.

As he was contemplating whether to call Song Qinghuan, she too was holding her phone, staring distractedly at the word “husband” shown on her screen.

She was also pondering whether she should call Shi Yuhuan. When she saw his incoming call, her excitement knew no bounds; had she not been heavily pregnant, she would probably have jumped out of bed.

“Huanhuan,” his low, magnetic voice made Song Qinghuan feel as if her whole body had turned to jelly.

“Shi Yuhuan, I’m here, do you miss me?” Song Qinghuan’s heart throbbed, her voice tinged with a soft charm.

Hearing her tender voice, it softened Shi Yuhuan’s icy demeanor, and his voice was as gentle as melting ice, “Mm.”

With a subtle joy in her heart, mist began to cloud Song Qinghuan’s eyes. Clutching her phone tightly, she murmured melodiously, “That’s good, Shi Yuhuan, I miss you too, so much… when will you come…”

She wanted to say, when will you come to take me home, but felt that saying so might put pressure on him.

She wouldn’t want to press him, especially in a precarious situation like this. Being hasty would only make things worse.

So, she changed her tone, “I mean… to visit me… I don’t want to talk to you over the phone. I miss you, I really, really want to see you!”

“I’m sorry, I can’t come see you now,” the words lodged in his throat, unable to come out.

“It’ll be soon. Once things are settled, I won’t just come to see you, I’ll take you home.” His low, soothing voice held a hint of enchantment.

Song Qinghuan shook her head, “I know it’s not that simple. Take your time; I don’t need you to rush home. I would be content if you just came to see me.”

“Then… okay, I’ll plan a visit.” Even though Shi Yuhuan agreed, he didn’t specify when.
