Rudy was devastated, not because he had met an accident where he would have definitely lost his life if he was a normal human, where Eric would have lost his life if Rudy hadn't saved him immediately after the accident.
Rather, he was devastated because he couldn't get the dragon girl's name in order to call her when he wanted to have a fun time.
'Wait a minute, even if I knew her name… how was she supposed to know when I called her name? It's not like she can hear me from the other side of the planet. And if she could, I don't really need to know her name to call her out.'
Rudy would have considered the possibility of the dragon girl fooling him and running away after making a promise to get out of the situation— if she hadn't left her heart with him.
"Well, I gained nothing and lost nothing." Rudy walked back to the crash site and looked at Eric.
'I don't feel proud to have let go of the culprit just because she was hot. Even if the attack wasn't on purpose, I shouldn't have let her go. She basically got away after promising me something which I am not sure will happen.
She hated humans and would rather die. So if she left her heart with me, doesn't that mean her promise was genuine?'
Rudy was feeling conflicted and decided not to think too much of a missed opportunity. He picked up Eric's body in his arms and walked away from the car as the smoke coming out of it had increased.
"Should I teleport directly to Eric's house? What if Eleanor is there, though?" Rudy wondered. "Forget about that, what will I say when she and Eric ask about the car? What will I say if they ask how we survived the fall? I am sure Eric will look into this and eventually find the car."
The car was in no shape to even be recognized as a car, but if the car ended up in such a state, how in the world were Eric and Rudy without a scratch?
That was the question everyone would ask if they found the car. Hence, Rudy made a perfect decision and blew the car into bits. Then, he melted the remaining parts and shaped it into a ball— which was actually a case to safeguard the dragon's heart.
After putting the dragon heart into the case and placing it into his pocket using telekinesis, Rudy glanced around the surroundings for some reason— as though he was searching for something.
'What's this?' He raised his brow with a confused look on his face. 'Why are my ears ringing like this? It's a faint chime.'
Rudy carefully placed Eric on the ground and glanced around with super vision. He was sure that his powers were sensing something, but couldn't figure out the source.
'I would usually see something whenever my ears did that, but…' After a sudden realization, Rudy wondered, 'Could it be that my encounter with the dragon made my senses even more powerful?'
The chiming sound kept getting louder every second, so Rudy knew something was coming at him. Maybe the dragon girl was returning to tell her name to him? But if that was the case, his powers wouldn't have alerted him of the danger.
Rudy had already tested all the powers he had discovered, and he had worked around with them to master how they worked. The dragon girl was no longer a threat to Rudy, so his powers wouldn't have alerted him like that. Rather, his ears would have twitched a bit to analyze the pattern.
That is how he always knew who was approaching him by analyzing the unique patterns. 𝓃𝓸𝓋𝓅𝓾𝒷.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"I should move Eric out of here first." He picked Eric and teleported to his room. Then, he scanned around, expecting to see Eleanor in the house, but no one was in the house.
'That works too.'
He put Eric on the bed and teleported back to the crash site.
"Yeah, I didn't hear this chiming sound at Eric's house, so my guess was right." Muttering that, he jumped into the sky.
Instead of waiting for whatever was approaching him, Rudy decided to head towards it. Rudy still couldn't locate the source, but he used the intensity of the chiming sound to find the right direction. If it decreased, he changed his direction, and if it increased, he sped up.
A minute later, he caught a glimpse of something shining at a distance a few miles away from him. At first, he thought it could have been a star that just happened to twinkle, but his guts said otherwise.
Before he could see who or what it was, Rudy was struck by a lightning that came from above.
"...!"
Although it didn't hurt him in the slightest, he was unable to react in time. He was faster than light yet, and he heard the thunder after he began falling from the sky.
"To hell with it!"
Rudy was pissed, so he raised his hand towards the sky and a conjured violent clouds from which lightning crackled and thundered like a wild beast.
He aimed the lightning towards the shining object and landed on the ground.
'Wait… a minute…' Rudy broke a sweat while looking at the sky.
His intention was to fire a lightning bolt, but he had summoned a lightning thunderstorm into the sky which grew every passing second.
"I only raised my hand in the sky! How the fuck did it come to this?!"
Although the thunderstorm was in the sky, it was obvious that it would spread to the ground once it became unstoppable. The target of the thunderstorm was the shining object which was now heading in the other direction.
'Did it change its course after seeing the thunderstorm?' Rudy wondered.
"No shit! I would do the same."
Rudy thought the shining object was running away, but instead, it had changed its course. It was still coming towards Rudy, but from another direction.
"Whatever it is, I am going to pound it heartlessly! Oh, I am so angry right now!"
