Shen Roujia unexpectedly sneezed a few times in the kitchen. Just as she placed the soup bowl on the tray, a sudden wave of dizziness hit her. Her vision went black, and she collapsed on the spot.
Her body felt as if it were burning, and for a moment, Shen Roujia wondered if she had fallen into a furnace. She tried to open her eyes but was met with a sharp, stabbing pain.
Afraid to try again, she lay still, drenched in cold sweat, not daring to move. Strangely, though, she could clearly sense that someone was touching her. It felt as if she were lifted into the air, cradled in someone’s arms, bringing with it a coolness that contrasted sharply with her fevered state.
As Shen Roujia slipped into unconsciousness, she faintly heard Xiao Fu’s voice and the hurried sound of footsteps.
“How did she suddenly become so hot?”
…
When Shen Roujia passed out, Xu Zening immediately questioned Imperial Physician Zhao, “What’s wrong with her?” 𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙥𝒖𝒃.𝙘𝙤𝒎
Imperial Physician Zhao calmly withdrew his hand after checking her pulse. “After examining her pulse, I found no abnormalities. Her pulse is strong, indicating that she’s in good health. The fever may have been caused by exhaustion. She just needs rest.”
Xu Zening still frowned as he looked at Shen Roujia, but he nodded slightly. “Thank you. Gao Huaichang, see that Imperial Physician Zhao is escorted back.”
Xiao Fu continued to change the water and apply cool cloths to Shen Roujia’s forehead.
Xu Zening extended his hand towards her. “Give it to me.”
Xiao Fu hesitated. “Your Highness, please allow this servant to handle such menial tasks.”
Xu Zening, with an expressionless face, insisted, “Go check if the medicine is ready.”
